I'll Just Run Away Again
We had just finished dinner when there was a knock at the door.
"Aerial will you please get the door for me?" Michelle asked and I went to the door and opened it. 2 police officers stood there and I knew I was caught.
"Are you Aerial Raine?" the pudgy officer asked.
"Yeah why?"
"We just got word that ran away from your foster home and now you need to come with us." he said. I backed up away from him. I didn't want to leave.
"I ain't going anywhere! I left that damn place for a fucking reason!" I yelled and Michelle came out of the kitchen and Brian came inside. They both stood there confused.
"May I help you officer? Brian asked.
"Are you aware that this child ran away from her foster home in Georgia." the officer said.
"No I wasn't. Michelle do you know anything about this?"
"She told me she left but I didn't know where she left from." Michelle said looking at Brian.
"I'm going to have to take the child and place her in another foster home until she is adopted or turns 18." the officer explained.
"I'm not going to no foster home! I hate it! No one fucking listens to me there and I'm either getting beat or some other bullshit and I ain't doing it anymore! You put me in another foster home I'll run again!" I yelled with tears running down my face.
"What if Michelle and I adopted her?" Brian said as we stared at him in shock.
"Are you sure that's what you want to do?" Michelle asked bringing me closer to her.
"Yes. I want a daughter and since we have been trying with no luck we should adopt her." Brian explained.
"You guys will have to come with us to sign papers with DHS and she'll be able to come back here." the officer said smiling. I couldn't help but be shocked at what Brian had just said. He wanted to adopt me! I now know he really likes me and wants me in the bands life and his as well.
''Alright. Michelle go tell the guys that we will be back in a minute. We went to sign the adoption papers on Aerial." Brian said and she just smiled and walked to the back yard to tell the guys. A few seconds later she came back and we all got in the car and left. I still couldn't believe that he said that! I am so happy and Michelle is too!
Now I get to see Matt all the time! I'm so fucking excited to be moving into a permanent home with a real supportive family. While Michelle and Brian signed the papers, I was outside the door just looking around the place thinking to myself and how to tell the rest of the gang of my past. Thank God I won't have to be abused anymore! Thank God I'm not going to be called 'a worthless piece of fucking shit', just to quote my dead beat father. I laid my head back in the chair and before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
