Brian ended up staying for a few hours before Michelle called for him home. We didn’t do much other than talk about everything and cuddle. It wasn’t anything really spectacular, but it was nice. Today, however, was my first day back at work and I couldn’t be any more excited. Ian still kept it a secret from Zoe, so she has no idea that I’m even coming. No one does and I love it. I got up early and dressed in my favorite outfit and actually put effort in doing my hair. It was a simple look, but cute and I couldn’t complain. I looked at the time on my phone and realized that it was close to time for me to leave so I hurried and grabbed some breakfast, which consisted of just some butter toast and I headed out the door.

The drive didn’t take long, but I was more than anxious and I actually started to feel nervous. I pulled into the parking lot and made my way out of the car. I slowly walked up to the door and opened it. Zoe’s eyes just glanced up from behind the desk she always sat at. She looked down again, but looked back up almost instantly. Her eyes widened.

“Lex, what are you doing here?”

“What do you mean what am I doing here?” I smiled.

“Do you have an appointment or something?”

“I have an appointment with my tattooing station and my best friend.”

“You’re here to stay?” She asked.

“Yes.”

“What happened to your so-called “new life”.”

“It fell through. Just like all my plans do.”

“Are you back with Zack?”

“Yes.”

“He actually took you back?”

“Yes, he did.”

“I’m surprised.”

“Why?”

“Well you cheated on him numerous times.”

“Does that matter?”

“Just a little.”

“Well thanks for my kind welcome, Zoe.” I sped walk to the room I used to tattoo in.

“I’m just saying. What else would you want me to say?” She said behind me and I just ignored her. That didn’t go as planned. Not at all.

I set my stuff all up again and got situated. I assumed I wasn’t going to have any clients today unless they were walk-ins, so I just relaxed a bit. I was avoiding going to the front as much as I can, because I just didn’t want to deal with Zoe. My phone began to ring. It was Brian.

“I thought I told you no phone calls.”

“Oh, did I call you?” He laughed. “I meant to call Michelle. I mean she is my girlfriend after all.”

“Smart ass. Whatcha want?”

“Just wanted to see how your first day back is going.”

“Weird.” I laughed. “You called before Zack.”

“Doesn’t matter. How’s it going?”

“Not that great, but I don’t wanna discuss it.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, babe.” I felt my cheeks blush.

“It’s okay.” A knock came across my door.

“I gotta go.” I hurried and hung up before the person made his way inside. It was Zack. Whew close call.

“What are you doing here?” I smiled at him.

“I just wanted to drop by.” He leaned down and gave me a kiss. “How’s your first day going?”

“Shitty.”

“Why’s that?”

“Let’s just say my oh so anticipated welcome back from Zoe didn’t go so well.”

“How so?”

“Can we not talk about it?” I asked.

“She brought up the situation didn’t she?”

I sighed. “Yeah, she did. That’s all she brought up. I guess I really fucked it up with her.”

“You don’t understand.” I told him.

“What is there to understand? You came back hopeful to get your best friend back, but she shot you down. You didn’t fuck up, she did.”

“That doesn’t make me feel any better.”

“I don’t know what else to say. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine.” I shook my head. “It’s not your fault. I shouldn’t be so pissy towards you because of it. You didn’t do anything.”

“Just let it go and leave her be. She’ll come around.”

“Yeah, we’ll see.”

“Well I was just on my way home from a meeting and figured I’d stop by.”

“Thank you.” I smiled at him. “It was nice seeing you.”

“Can I squeeze in a little date after work?”

“I think so.” I smiled at him and he bent down and pecked me on the lips.

“Call me after work and I’ll come by.”

“Okay.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.” He kissed me one more time and then left. I smiled at myself before my door opened once again.

“Jesus aren’t I popular?” I laughed to myself. I looked up and it was Val. “Val, what are you doing here?” I laughed. “You never come to work.”

“Well that was before I decided I wanted to get a tattoo and I figured I could come today and get details.” She smiled at me.

“Oooo, first client of the day.” I laughed. “What are you wanting to get?”

“Something simple. I’m leaning towards simple like black and gray and something like a raven, but I don’t want ton of detail and I want it small.”

“So why don’t we do a simple shadowed raven on your hip?”

“That sound perfect.” She smiled.

“Okay, let me get everything set up. I actually already have something similar drawn up, so let me trace it onto the stencil paper and we can get started. You can go ahead and just stay in here.”

“Okay.” She set all her stuff down and laid back in the chair. "So how's things going?"

I laughed. "It's only been one day. How do you expect them to be going?"

“Well are you and Brian all oogling over each other or what?”

“We’re starting off as if we don’t have a past. It’s lessen the tension a lot.”

"That's smart."

“Yeah, I thought so to.”

“Is it weird dating the both of them?”

“Not yet, no. But they both thought about me today.” I smiled.

“How so?”

“Brian called and Zack came in.”

“That’s cool. Why didn’t Brian come in?”

“I told him he couldn’t just show up at work. It’s too risky, especially since Zoe is still here. She'd automatically start assuming something was going on.”

“Did you ever talk to her?”

“Yeah, it didn't go to well.”

“Screw her then. You tried.”

“Yeah, oh well.”

“So when are you going to see Brian next?”

“Well Zack and I have a date tonight so it won't be tonight. It might be tomorrow though.”

Zoe's P.O.V.

I felt kind of bad for treating Lex the way I did when she came in today, but how did she expect me to treat her? She took my boyfriend away from me. She cheated on her husband. But yet she still seems to get everything she wants. It's not fair. I sound like a teenager all over again, but I just don't understand. I want to hate her for everything she has done to me, but I just can't. I love her to pieces. I stood from my chair and decided to go and talk to her. I knew Val was in there, but surely they won't care.

I walked back to her station and I heard them talking and it sounded kind of serious, so I put my ear to the door.

“So how long do you plan on doing this?” Val asked.

“For however long it takes.” Lex replied. I wonder what she's up to?

“Well it shouldn't take long for you to figure out exactly who you want.”

“Yeah, but I don't know if I could have the balls to break it off with the one I don't want.”

That. Bitch. I knew exactly what she was talking about. She's cheating on Zack... again.

“You'll figure it out.”

I grabbed the door knob, but decided against opening the door. I'm going to wait and see how this unfolds. She's going to fuck up her life by herself again and she's not going to have anybody. She's cheating on Zack and god knows who with. She probably had a boyfriend before she came back to Zack. I'm just going to sit back and laugh in her face with her “perfect” life comes crumbling down once again. She'll never learn.
