The Final Decision
Chapter XXI
I woke up the next morning in my own bed at my apartment. The night before was a blur, but I did know I didn’t do anything stupid, for once. I do remember the ‘fight’ I had with Brian. It wasn’t really a fight. It was just me letting him know I’m not fucking up this time, which is true. My heart is starting to mend back together. I have my husband back. Well he’s not a husband anymore, but that doesn’t matter. After losing Avery and everything that happened before that, it’s nice to have someone you love back in your life after so long.
I smiled at myself and rolled out of bed. I threw my hair up in a messy bun on the top of my head and walked out of the room. Casey was passed out on my couch along with Brian. And they were both butt ass naked. I guess they had a fun time last night. Why they ended up sleeping here, I have no clue. I walked over to them and woke them both up.
“Get your clothes on and get out of here. I have work.” They both looked around rather confused. I’m pretty sure neither of them knew the other’s name, which I found very humorous for some reason. “Why do you both have that look?” I chuckled at myself.
“I don’t remember last night.” Casey said.
“Me either.” Brian followed.
“Well, I assumed that much.” I laughed. “Brian, that’s Casey.”
“Oh, why did I get so fucked up last night?”
“Because you were pissed off at me.”
“That makes sense.”
“Why you guys are here I don’t know. All I do know is that Brian, you and I got into it about Zack and I and then the rest pretty much was a blur. You probably intended to piss me off by sleeping with Casey because she came with me. That actually probably explains why you both are here.”
“One drunken night hook-up it is then.” Casey laughed.
“It happens.”
“A little too much for me.” Brian chuckled.
“You know I actually find this very humorous as bad as that sounds.”
“Well this is typical us.”
“Right? If one of us is pissed off, we go for their friends.”
“Yep, which actually led you to Zack.”
“Yeah, ironically.” I laughed. “Do you guys wanna go get coffee before I head off to work?”
“No, I better go. Band meeting today.” Brian jumped up and pulled his pants on.
“Yeah, I should probably head home too. I gotta feed my cat.” Casey stood up and wrapped the blanket around her.
“Alrighty then. I’ll see you guys later.” They both nodded and walked out.
After Casey and Brian left, I just sat down and thought. I thought about the things I said to Brian the night before and then everything else I could remember afterwards. I know I was going to end up regretting what I told him sometime in the future. At least he barely remembers it. I can’t wait until this shit is just done with. I wonder what Michelle is going to think. Where is she anyway? I shook off my thoughts and decided to go ahead and get ready for work. While I was walking out my door, I bumped into someone.
“Michelle? What are you doing here?” I asked, shocked.
“Is Brian here?” She looked panicked.
“No, he’s not. I’m just about to head off to work. What’s up?”
“He didn’t come home last night and this was the first place I figured to check.”
“Because we had a past doesn’t mean it’s happening again.” I snapped.
She sighed. “Well what the hell am I supposed to think? It’s happened how many times now.”
I rolled my eyes. “And you’re in the place to tell me that.”
“I’ve had my faults, I know, but you are in no fucking place to judge me.”
“And that’s why you’re here on MY doorstep judging me for the same actions you’ve done?”
“You stupid bitch. I know he’s in there.”
I opened my door. “Go ahead. Check for your goddamn self. Keep in mind that you’re going to look like a damn idiot when you don’t find anyone in there.” She narrowed her eyes at me and stormed passed me. I stood at the doorway as she looked in every place a person could be. She called his name multiple times, also. “I told you, he’s not here. I may have made mistakes before, but I changed. I’m with Zack and intend on staying with him and I made that point very clear. Now, if you’ll excuse me I have to go to work. I have some tattoos I have to get done and I would rather be there than standing in front of dumb insecure bitch. Get out of my apartment.” She stormed passed me and didn’t say a word. I could hear her heels clicking against the ground and eventually they faded and I got into my car and made my way to work.
When I pulled into the parking lot, I decided I should call Brian to let him know that she showed up looking for him.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Bri. It’s me. Michelle is looking for you.”
He sighed. “Why? I’m at Matt’s right now.”
“She showed up at my apartment completely pissed and searched my apartment for you because she thought you were with me last night.”
“You didn’t tell her about Casey, did you?”
“No, Brian. I didn’t. Quite frankly, she deserves it. I’m not out to hurt you Brian. I’m only here to help you. I would suggest that you concoct a lie to tell her so she can stop badgering me about how I’m supposedly cheating once again.”
“Okay, I’m sorry, Lex.”
“Don’t worry about it. Gotta go.” I hung up and walked inside the shop. I was really starting to miss my old job. I really wanted to go back. I missed Zoe, also. God I don’t know why I left everyone. I wonder if maybe I should go back? Would Ian even take me back?
“You have three appointments today, Lex.” Dylan told me.
“Okay, D. Thanks. Um, can I talk to you really quick about something?”
“Yeah, sure. What’s up?”
“Well you know how I came to this job to escape my old life?” He nodded. “Well I’m thinking that I’m going to go back to my old job. Well try and go back.”
“Really? Why’s that?”
“My best friend worked there. I had an amazing boss and I just miss it so much. Don’t get me wrong I love this job too, but I just want my old life back. I thought coming here was taking me away from what was hurting me, but in all honesty it killed me even more. I just think it is the best decision right now for me. I wish things were different, but I can’t change it.”
“Oh, Lex. I understand! Talk to Tyler about it and I’m sure he’ll understand also. We would rather you be happy at your job rather than miserable. If Sinister Body is where you want to be, so be it.” He smiled at me and I gave him a huge hug. It’s hard to think that a blossoming friendship will die because of this.
“I still have to call Ian and make sure it’s okay to come back, so I won’t talk to him yet. Thanks for understanding.”
“Well just let me know.” I agreed to letting him know and walked back to my station and got started for the day.
When I got off of work, I immediately called Ian. I was too excited to tell him, but I was nervous also. I was nervous that he had already replaced me and wouldn’t have room for me.
“Sinister Body, this is Ian.”
“Ian. Hi. It’s Lex.”
“Lex! How are you?”
“I’m doing okay. How are you?”
“Can’t complain. I haven’t heard from you in a while. How’s the new job?”
“It’s great. It really is, but actually I’m calling to talk to you about something.”
“Oh, gosh. What is it?” He chuckled a little bit.
“Well you know the drastic change I made really isn’t working for me. I’m already back with Zack and I’m just missing there more than anything. I just was wondering if maybe it would be possible if I could come back.”
“I’ll really have to think about it Lex.”
“Oh.” I sounded disappointed.
“You’re so gullible! Of course you can come back. We’d love to have you here.”
“Dammit, Ian! You scared me.” I laughed.
“You should know that we would take you back anytime. Zoe misses you even though she claims she hates you now for leaving.”
“That bitch.” I joked. “She’ll change her mind when I show up. Don’t tell her I’m coming back. I wanna surprise her.”
“Alrighty, will do. When will that be?”
“When do you want it to be?”
“Anytime you want. Just talk it over with your boss and see when you can leave.”
“Okay, I’ll let you know.”
“Okay. Bye, Lex.”
“Bye, Ian.” I hung the phone up and continued my drive back home. I was more than excited to tell Zack, even more excited that I have my job back. Things are finally falling back in place.
