“It’s so weird not being behind the drums.” I smiled as I got out of the shower in the hotel room.
“One more week and you’re back there.” Brian laughed
“Yep.” I said
“Are you having fun?” He asked
“Yeah. I miss Brayden and Payson though. You?” I asked
“I’m having a blast; I do miss Madison and Nate too.” He said
I nodded and his phone rang.
“Speaking of.” He said
I smiled.
“Hey baby.” He said
There was a pause
“What’s wrong?” He asked
I looked over at him, he dropped to his knees.
“Okay Brayden, tell her we’re on our way.” He said his voice cracking some.
He hung up and threw his phone across the hotel room.
“Brian?” I asked
He looked at me tears in his eyes, I got down onto my knees next to him and he just completely fell apart into my arms.
“What’s going on?” I asked
“Madison.” He cried
“What about Madison?” I asked
“She lost the baby.” He cried
“Oh shit.” I said
He hugged me and cried, we stayed like that for a while, I picked him up off the floor and helped him sit on the bed.
“I will be right back.” I said
He nodded and dropped his head into his hands and cried. I walked out of the room and next door to our manager’s room.
“What’s up Jimmy?” He asked
“Brian and I have to leave, his wife miscarried their daughter. We are going to leave our stuff can you please make sure it gets back to California.” I spit out so fast he looked confused.
“Okay. Get him home.” He said
I nodded and ran to our room and helped him up.
“If you walk on your own we can get to the airport and get to her faster.” I said
He nodded and stood up, we rushed out of the hotel and hailed a cab to the airport. When we got to the airport I bought tickets and we rushed through and onto the plane. We sat there in anticipation as Brian tried to hold in his sadness at the loss of his daughter. When the plane took off he laid his head on my shoulder.
“I hope Madison is okay.” He said
“Me too. Are you okay?” I asked
“No, I really want to drink myself silly right now but I know I can’t because I have to be there for her and all of this is driving my brain bonkers. This plane is going too god damn slow I just need to get home, I want to be with her, I don’t want her to be without me right now.” He blubbered
I nodded and side hugged him.
When the plane landed at our airport he pushed his way off of the plane dragging me behind him, we got into a cab and told him to gun it to my house, when we got there everyone’s car was there, we ran in and he busted through the door. Thankfully we were only eight hours away and Madison wasn’t without him long, when I looked at the scene in the living room Madison was curled up as best as she could on Brayden’s lap, Brayden was running her hands through her hair, Gena, Lacey, and Val were sitting around then and the guys were sitting there looking horrified at all of the crying.
“Madison.” Brian said
Madison looked up and carefully scrambled out of Brayden’s lap and into Brian’s arms.
“Daddy.” I heard
I looked over and Payson was standing there, I walked over and pulled her into my arms and kissed her.
“Guys give these two some space, let’s go outside.” Johnny said getting up
We all went outback and Brayden hugged me.
“I can’t even believe this happened to them. That baby girl was so healthy.” Gena said bouncing Angel.
I nodded and kissed Brayden.
“What happened?” Payson asked
“Well baby girl, Aunt Madison lost her baby.” I said
“How?” Payson asked
“Things just happen sometimes okay.” Brayden said
Payson nodded and the night went on. Everyone stayed at our house but Nathan, he was at Papa Gates house.
It’s been a month since Madison lost the baby and the funeral was about a week ago. Madison, Brian, and Nate have been staying at our house and Brian is working on just everything, Madison on the other hand just sitting looking lost all of the time. I knew it hurt them to be here because Brayden’s belly just kept growing, she only has two months until our son it born but I know Madison wouldn’t be able to function without Brayden.
“Jimmy where is Madison?” Brian asked me freaking out a bit.
“She’s out by the pool with Brayden.” I said
“I’m scared.” Brian said
We walked down to the music room where Payson and Nate were playing with their toys.
“About?” I asked
“I’m scared that she’s going to hurt herself.” He said
“She won’t I know Madison. She just needs time.” I said
“I was talking with Matt earlier and he thinks that she will come out of this funk soon because she’s getting more social.” Brian said
“She might. Madison is the strongest girl I know.” I said
He nodded and picked out his guitar and played a bit, I sat on the floor and laid back listening to the beautiful sound coming from the sad man.
“Baby.” I heard.
I looked up and Madison was standing in the doorway, I kicked Brain and he looked at her and smiled. She was actually dressed in clothes and not just sweatpants and a hoodie that belonged to Brayden, she had shoes on and everything.
“Hey beautiful.” Brian said
He put the guitar down and she walked over to him and sat on his lap and kissed him.
“MOMMY!” Nate yelled running to her.
She slid down to the floor and pulled her son into her arms
“I missed you two.” She cried pulled Brian down to the floor as well.
I felt someone sit in my lap and I hugged Brayden around her baby belly, Payson game up and sat on her lap.
“What are you doing?” Brian asked Madison
“Brayden and I were talking and I realized that just because I lost Scarlett doesn’t mean I lost everything. I still have the most amazing family ever; I have my loving, handsome husband and my adorable bouncing son. I have my sister, who is one of my rocks, I wouldn’t be anywhere without you Brayden. I didn’t lose you guys and that’s one of the best things right now.” Madison said
Nate kissed him mom, we had explained what happened to him and he was so upset it was heartbreaking.
“Baby, I think we should head back down the street.” Madison said
Brian nodded.
“And we can always try for another baby sometime in the future.” Brian said
Madison nodded and we all sat in a comfortable silence.
Brayden made dinner and Madison, Brian and Nate went home.
“Madison is doing so much better.” Brayden said as we laid in bed
“What did you say to her?” I asked
“Nothing. We were just talking and she said she woke up happy today because she had her family. I just told her to tell Brian that.” She said
“You are such a good friend.” I said
She smiled.
“I’m still worried about her though.” She said
“We all are.” I said
