No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 50

Third Person POV:
Tammy was grinning from ear to ear as she picked the locks on the basement door. A little skill Tobin taught her years ago. She just hasn’t had to use it till now, and she was no where near as good at as he is. Everyone was finally distracted enough for her to get down there. Jimmy and Johnny were complaining about being bored, and left to go play Tall Man at the mall. Matt and Brian were preoccupied in Matt’s office. The Berry’s were wrapped up in a video game. She didn’t know where Zacky was, just that he wasn’t home. They still wouldn’t let her have the keys. All she wanted to do was give him a piece of her mind. Matt doesn't want her snapping on him, and killing him there. He prefers it to be done else where. No evidence at home that way. She honestly doesn’t know if she would be able to kill him or not.

“Ready short-shit?” Jimmy asked Johnny crouching, so he could climb up on his shoulders. “Not going to be short in a second.” Johnny said as he made himself comfortable on Jimmy. “Yea well enjoy it while it lasts.” Jimmy said with a chuckle as he stood up. Jimmy closed the long trench coat Johnny was wearing around them. Tall Man was something they did when they got bored. Johnny would sit on Jimmy’s shoulders, and they would walk around terrorizing people. Jimmy would do all the talking from inside the coat while Johnny made facial expressions, and hand gestures like he was talking without moving his mouth. They discovered that kids find them more fascinating than scarey. There were a few that would stare at them, and then start crying after like five minutes, but they were never mean to the kids. The adults around were the ones they liked to fuck with. Jumping out at them from around a corner, or when they were coming out of the bathroom. Sometimes they would walk around the food court taking food off of random peoples plates and eating it. The mall wasn’t the only place they would play. There was a grocery store they were banded from. Jimmy lost his balance one day, and they fell into some shelves, it was just a domino affect after that. Luckily no one was seriously injured.

Tammy stood at the top of the steps, and closed the door behind her. She flicked the light switch on, and made her way down the stairs. Jeff sat in the center of the room, strapped to a chair. He opened and closed his eyes as they adjusted to the light. Their eyes met as she walked closer to him. Gabbing a chair, she placed it in front of him and sat down. He couldn’t read her face. The expression was calm, and it made him nervous. They sat like that for a moment. Neither of them saying a word. He didn’t want to say anything first. He didn’t know what she would do to him. She’s never attacked him before like she did that night. He’s always had the upper hand, and now he was afraid of her. Tammy let out a heavy sigh, and cocked her head to the side as she studied the man in front of her. She could see the fear in his eyes, and it made her smile a little. “You know I had so many things I wanted to say to you,” she started looking at the sad excuse of a man in front of her, “But now that I’m sitting here looking at the pathetic piece of shit you are,” she paused, “I almost pity you.” She stood, and walked closer to him. She placed her hands on his bound wrist, and got eye level. “Almost.” she whispered before standing abruptly, and sitting back down. “Do you have anything to say for yourself.” she asked him calmly, crossing her arms over her chest. He didn’t know what he could say. He could beg for forgiveness till he was blue in the face, but that didn’t mean she would give it to him.

“Well hello there little boy.” Jimmy said through the coat while Johnny looked down at the kid. “And what is your name?” he asked in an old man’s voice. The little boy stared up at the giant man in front of him with awe. “Jacob.” the boy said softly. “Nice to meet you Jacob.” Jimmy said couching a little so Johnny could shake the little boys hand. Jacob smiled at him, and shook his first finger before his mother scooped him away. “Don’t talk to them,” she said rushing away, Jimmy and Johnny hearing the word weirdos as she disappeared. They chuckled to each other, and moved on to find someone else to mess with. They rounded a corner that lead to the food court. Some people made obvious attempts to avoid them as they walked through the crowed mall. “Hey!” someone called out behind them. Johnny looked over his shoulder. “Oh shit it’s rent-a-cop.” he told Jimmy as he quickly lifted up the trench coat high enough to jump off his shoulders. The two took off with 4 mall cops on their asses. Johnny shook off the coat as they weaved through people. It was easier to run without holding it up, and they could always get another one. Jimmy looked back over his shoulder in time to see one of the mall cops slip on the coat. He busted out laughing making Johnny look to see the others stopping to help him up, and couldn’t help but laugh too. They took the opportunity to duck into a department store, and hide in some cluttered clothes racks. Hiding behind the clothes, they quietly caught their breath as they watched mall security look around half ass and leave. They peeked out their clothes rack, and glanced around to make sure the coast was clear, receiving some strange looks from passing people as they climbed out of the racks. Jimmy got into a fight with a clothes hanger that got caught on his collar, and it almost won. He yanked it off, and held it up in victory before spiking it like a football. Johnny laughed at him as they left the store in the opposite direction security went. “I gotta take a leak.” Johnny said as they made their way to the exit. “I’ll meet you in the car.” Jimmy said as Johnny headed to the bathroom by the doors. Johnny waved over his shoulder in acknowledgment as Jimmy walked out the doors.

“I’m sorry,” Jeff choked out finally, “I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I truly am sorry.” he said meeting the disbelieving eyes of his fist born. “For what? I want to hear it.” she hissed at him finally showing some anger. “For taking out my hatred for your mother on you,” he started looking down at his lap, “For lying, selling you out, hitting you,” he paused and looked at Tammy’s angry tear filled eyes, “I’m sorry for hooking you on heroin, and causing you to OD.” “Twice.” she spat interrupting him. “Twice.” he repeated. “But mostly I’m sorry for not being the father you needed the most, at a time when you needed it the most.” he said as a few tears escaped down her cheeks. She wiped them away, and composed herself. “I have never hated anyone more than I hate you.” she said her face expressionless. Jeff nodded, adverting his eyes from Tammy’s cold gaze. “But I forgive you.” she said being met with a shocked look from Jeff. “I have to if I’m ever going to be at peace with my past.” she explained further to him. She chuckled as she watched the relief wash over him. “But don’t think that means you’re off the hook,” she said standing, and moving the chair back to its original place. Jeff‘s face fell. “I may forgive you, but that doesn’t mean others will.” she said making her way to the stairs. She climbed the stairs, and paused turning to face the man. “I told you I won’t stop them this time.” she said before shutting off the light, and leaving him in the dark.

Jimmy walked through the parking lot of the mall to their SUV. He was inwardly cursing himself for parking so far away from the door, but Johnny was complaining about finding a close spot, so Jimmy made him walk. He didn’t notice the black Lincoln creep down the isle of the parking lot behind him. He was to busy fishing the keys out of his pocket. “Hello Jimmy.” the menacing voice sounded once he reached the back of the SUV. Jimmy’s eyes widened as he whipped around, and met the sinister smile on Dave’s face as he looked at him out the passenger window. “Give your boss a message for me.” he said pointing a gun out the window, and pulling the trigger. Johnny approached the start of the isle, freezing when he heard the gun shot. He looked down the parking lot in time to see Jimmy fly back, and collide with the back of the vehicle. He took off down the isle as the black car sped away. Jimmy slid down the back of the SUV placing a hand over his chest. Johnny pulled out his phone, and called two paramedics on the Avenged payroll. Sometimes a hospital was needed, and there were particular people paid to help them. Johnny ran up to Jimmy, and crouched down next to him. He quickly looked at the hole Jimmy covered with his hand as the blood poured through his fingers. Johnny stood, and threw open the passenger side door not caring that he hit the car next to him. He opened the glove box, and pulled out one of his first aid kits. Hearing sirens approaching, he crouch next to Jimmy, and ripped his shirt off. He fished some gauze out of the first aid and covered the wound as the ambulance pulled up next to him. “Hurry!” he yelled at Dan and Cam as they came around with a stretcher. They weren’t officially part of the gang, but they were long time friends, and forever Avenged Sevenfold employees. Matt even hired Cam to do the gang tattoos. They lifted Jimmy on to the stretcher, and strapped him down before lifting him into the ambulance. Dan drove as Cam helped Johnny in the back. Jimmy coughed up a little blood as he looked to Johnny. “D-Dave.” he choked out before slipping out of consciousness.

Tammy closed the door to the basement with a small satisfied smile on her face. For the first time she felt at peace. Truly happy. She heard a door slam making her jump a little. She turned to see the panicked faces of Matt and Brian. “What’s going on?” she asked once they reached her. “We just got a call from Johnny,” Brian said as the Berry’s came out of the game room to see what the commotion was about, “Jimmy’s been shot.” he finished rushing to the door with the others close behind. “Is he okay?” Tammy asked as she felt her heart hit her stomach. “We don’t know they were on their way to the hospital.” Shadz said as they climbed into a SUV. She just gave a nod in response as Brian sped off the property. Tammy was never a religious person. She could never understand how God could let someone suffer like she did, but for the first time she was praying to him, hoping Jimmy would be okay.

Notes

And enter Dan and Cam. Probably the only chapter you'll see them in, I haven't decided yet.
Probably not the confrontation you guys were looking for between Tammy and Jeff, but that's what I went with....He'll still get his the others won't be so forgiving. Matt doesn't take it lightly when you mess with his gang.

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
