No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 41

Tammy’s POV: Two months later:
It’s been a year since Avenged Sevenfold saved me. I don’t look at it as being sold to them anymore. They saved me, gave me a home, a family, and I couldn’t be happier. Well except for the Disturbed cloud hanging over everyone’s heads right now. We still don’t know where they are, and haven’t heard anything from them. Matt decided after a month that we would start picking up new jobs again, not as many as we usually do, its not like we’re in need of the cash.
I haven’t had a nightmare since that last one. It gave me such a clear view of the person I was, and the person I am now. I’m not afraid of him anymore. I’ve seen the face behind the monster, and he doesn’t scare me. He won’t break me again. I’m done cowering to my past. It ends now.
We were on a routine collection job right now. My part was over, and I was hanging out with the Berrys, waiting for the rest of the guys to get back to the bar. They’ve been getting more involved too. Mostly as back up. We’re still not allowed to go anywhere alone, not till we at least get some kind of lead on Disturbed.
“There are like no hot chicks in this place.” I heard JB whine. “You’re so shallow.” I chuckled at him. “I’m not shallow. I just have standards.” he said defensively. “What standards? Must have fake boobs, a fat ass, weigh a buck 0 five, and can’t recite the alphabet.” I asked trying to hold back my smile. “Exactly.” he said with a smirk. I chuckled and shook my head. “I’m going to get another drink. Do you want one?” I asked standing. “Yes please.” they both said simultaneously. I nodded and made my way to the bar. I ordered three beers from the bartender, and waited patiently for them. “Tammy?” I heard a voice behind me that made my blood boil. I turned to face the man. “Jeff.” I said flatly. “Can I talk to you?” he asked nervously scratching the back of his neck. “I don’t want to hear anything you have to say.” I spat at him. I paid the bartender, and grabbed the drinks. “Please.” he pleaded grabbing my arm as I went to walk away. I pulled my arm out of his grasp. “You have five seconds.” I said glaring at him. “Is there a problem here?” JB asked as him and Matt came over to us. “This doesn’t concern you.” Jeff said to them. “Yea it kind of does.” Matt said getting in his face. “Guys.” I said getting between Matt and Jeff, and pushing Matt away a little. “What the fuck are you doing here?” JB asked not backing off. “I came to talk to my daughter. Alone.” he spat. “That’s not going to happen.” Matt told him. “Guys its okay.” I said handing them the beers. I wasn’t afraid of him anymore. Besides all these years of drug use has not been kind to him, and he wasn’t the same intimidating man he use to be. “Please just give us a minute.” I said to them. They didn’t budge, not taking their eyes off of him. “Guys.” I said again before they finally looked at me. “Give us a minute.” I repeated. They let out sighs, and nodded before heading back to the table. “Can we go outside?” he asked. I narrowed my eyes at him. “What is this about?” I asked. “I’m trying to get clean.” he started, “my counselor said it might help if I talked to you about things.” he said looking down at his feet. “Fine.” I sighed out.
I followed him out the back door, and lit up a joint once outside. I looked at him, and cocked a brow. “I’m waiting.” I said as he met my eyes. “I’m sorry.” he said simply with almost no emotion. Sorry? That’s it? “Sorry for what Jeff?” I asked showing my irritation with him. He didn’t respond, and something snapped inside of me. “Sorry for what Jeff?!” I repeated raising my voice, “Sorry for selling my virginity to that fat slob of a friend of yours?! Sorry for beating me anytime I refused, or tried to get away?! Sorry for hooking me on heroine?! Sorry for almost killing me…twice?! Sorry for making the last two years of my childhood a living hell?!” I went off on him, “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SORRY FOR?!” He ran a frustrated hand down his face. “For this.” he said looking over my shoulder. “Hello Angel.” I heard the voice laced with venom.
I whipped around to the sneering faces of Disturbed. “Thank you Jeff. Your debt is forgiven.” Dave said to him. It wasn’t fear that flowed through me when I seen them. Rage filled my veins as I turned back to Jeff. “YOU SON OF A BITCH!” I yelled catching him off guard when I speared him. We crashed to the concrete, and I grabbed his shirt in my hand as punched him repeatedly in the face. “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE?!” I continued to yell as I hit him. I heard the laughter of Disturbed behind me as I continued to hit him. “YOU JUST SIGNED YOUR FUCKING DEATH CERTIFICATE!” I spat at him as I gripped his shirt in both hands. “I won’t fucking stop them this time.” I hissed at him. “You know that right?” I asked slamming his head to the concrete. “I’m,” slam, “The,” slam, “Only,” slam, “Reason,” slam, “You’re,” slam, “Alive.” I finished just before a rag was placed over my mouth and nose. “That’s enough of that.” I heard Dave hiss in my ear as he held the rag to my face. I knew what was on it, but my blind rage towards Jeff was causing me to breath heavy as I fought against Dave to get to him. Soon darkness took me.

Brian’s POV:
I was driving back to the bar with the guys. We just finished up a routine collection, and we were going to hang out for a bit. I heard Shadz phone go off, and he pulled it out of his pocket, a confused look coming across his face. “What’s wrong?” I asked glancing at him quickly. “A message from an unknown number.” he said opening it. I slammed on the breaks as soon as I heard Tammy’s voice come through his phone. “What the fuck?” Shadz breathed out as he looked at his phone. He looked at me with horror on his face. “What?” I asked as worry started to fill me. He turned his phone for me to see. The color drained from my face, and my blood ran cold. That motherfucker had a video camera rigged to his goggles, and there playing out on Shadz phone was Dave’s view of that night.
I slammed on the gas, and squealed tires as I sped to the bar. Shadz stopped the video, and called the Berrys. “Where’s Tammy?” he asked with his phone on speaker. “She’s talking to Jeff outside. Why?” JB asked. “Her fucking dad is there?” I asked as panic filled me. Shadz didn’t give him a chance to answer. “Get outside now.” he ordered. There was a long pause on the other line before we heard JB again. “She’s fucking gone.” he said in a panic. “What do you mean she’s gone?” I asked as I sped to the bar. “Jeff’s unconscious on the ground, and she’s gone. There’s a rag with chloroform on it.” he explained. “FUCK!” I yelled turning down the back alley of the bar. “We’ll be there in a minute.” Shadz said before he hung up.
Not a minute later his phone went off again. “It’s Jacoby.” he said just before answering. “Is Tammy okay?” I heard his panicked voice come through. Why was he wondering. “I think Disturbed has her.” Shadz told him as I pulled up next to the Berrys. “Wait. Why?” Shadz asked as we got out. “I got a video from an unknown number.” he said sadly. “I got it too.” Shadz said. “Get that piece of shit in the back.” Shadz ordered the Berrys as he came around the vehicle. “Who?” I heard Jacoby on the phone. “Looks like Jeff sold her out again.” he told him. “Are you fucking serious?!” he yelled causing the speaker on the phone to vibrate. “Shit I gotta go. Corey’s beeping through.” Shadz said looking at his screen. “I’ll meet you at your house.” Jacoby said before hanging up. “Did you get it too?” Shadz asked answering Corey’s call. “I did. What’s going on?” he asked. “Jacoby got it too,” Shadz explained to him, “They have her.” he said. “How?” Corey asked worry filling his voice. “That piece of shit father of hers.” I spat as drove towards the house. “Adam’s calling meet us at ours.” Shadz said before hanging up. “I’m assuming you got the video?” he asked answering Adam’s call. “Yes.” he replied. “Fuck that means he knows we were all involved.” Shadz said shaking his head. “How?” Adam asked. “I don’t fucking know, but they have her. Meet us at the house.” he told him. “On my way.” Adam said before hanging up. “Jimmy I want you to see if you can trace where this message came from when we get home.” Shadz said glancing back at him. Jimmy nodded, and Shadz handed him his phone.
Jacoby was already waiting outside the gate when we pulled up. I opened the gate with the remote, and followed his car down the drive, leaving the gate open for Corey, and Adam. “Where is that fucker!” Jacoby spat as we got out of our vehicles. “He’s unconscious in the back,” Shadz explained opening the hatch, “Looks like someone beat the shit out of him.” he finished. “Good the fucker deserves it.” he sneered looking at the unconscious man in the back. Matt and JB lifted him out, and carried him in. “Strap him to one of the beds in the infirmary,” Johnny told them as we entered the house, “Gotta make sure he doesn’t die before we get any information from him.” he said leading the Berrys to the infirmary. Jimmy headed for his computer room to trace the message, and I heard a knock on the door. Zack answered it revealing Corey behind it. I seen the headlights of Adams car pull up as Corey stepped inside. “Did everyone get it?” Jacoby asked when he seen Adam walk in. Shadz nodded to him. “So what are we going to do?” Corey asked as we made our way to Shadz office. “I don’t know yet. Jimmy is trying to trace the message, but right now that’s all we have until Jeff wakes up.” Shadz explained as he opened his office door.
I stood next to Shadz as he sat in his chair behind his desk. The three leaders took seats in the chairs in front of his desk. There was a knock on the door, and Shadz told them to come in. Jimmy opened the door, an unreadable expression on his face. “Dave wants to talk to you.” he said softly. The four bolted from their seats, and we all headed to the computer room. Jimmy opened the door, and there on the biggest monitor was Dave’s smiling face. “Good you’re all there.” he sneered as we entered the room. “Where the fuck is she Draiman?” I demanded from him. “Oh don’t worry she’s right here.” he said stepping out of camera view.
There she was, gaged and bound to a chair. I noticed the lack of fear in her eyes as she glared at Dave. “What do you want?” Shadz asked him. “I want my 300 mill.” he said getting back into frame. “Done. Name the place and time.” Shadz said. Dave laughed, and shook his head. “I’ll give you that information when the time comes.” he said. “The time is now Dave.” Shadz said getting irritated. Dave shook his head again. “I’ll let you know in 72 hours.” he said. “No Dave you know the fucking rules,” Shadz spat getting closer to the computer monitor, “If ransom can be paid, exchange is to be made.” he said reciting the rule. Yea it rhymes. “Fuck you and the rules.” Dave barked back. “I have an old friend to get reacquainted with,” he said with a sinister smirk looking back a Tammy, “Something tells me it’s going to take longer to break her this time.” he said before the monitor went black, and the call ended.

Notes

Maybe she shouldn't have went outside with him

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
