My Super Scary Sweet Sixteen
Summary
Lydia Mesa and Matt Sanders were best friends for as long as they could remember. Lydia came from a semi broken home, with parents who were divorced and lived separately, but were still friends. Matt grew up in a good home, with both of his parents and his sister. When eighth grade rolled around Lydia began developing feelings for Matt, but it was just a small crush. Through ninth and half of tenth grade those feelings grew and after one scary but amazing night her and Matt were together. A month and a half later she found out she was pregnant. Lydia was scared and didn't tell Matt until she was around six months. When she did tell him, he was upset she didn't tell him when she found out, but supported her decision to keep it.
When Lydia had Coveyn life was ok for her, she stayed at her mom's most of the time to be close to Matt and teen mom-hood was going great. Matt became busy with his possible band and Lydia got upset he wasn't spending time with her. This led to a big fight on the night of graduation that ended their relationship. Lydia graduated and took Coveyn and moved to New York City for college and never talked to or about Matt again.
Coveyn grew up with just her mom for the first three years of life, but when she turned four her mom got into a serious relationship with Damond and a year later the two were married. Damond was a good guy for her mom, even though her mom was only 21. They moved into a slightly larger home and life was normal for a year or so, her mom went to school for Political Science. Then when Coveyn was six her mom got pregnant with her little brother Tristen. When Tristen was born he had a learning disability, he was normal but learned at a very slow rate and had a stutter. Damond was a perfectionist and when Tristen was born 'not perfect', Damond was upset about it and stayed at work late, he was working at a business firm and in the works of creating his own business. About two years after Tristen was born, her mom and Damond tried again for a 'perfect' child, and then came Cadence, she was perfect in Damond's eyes.
Damond never once tried to even consider calling Coveyn his daughter or adopting her, he just shoved her aside because she was the product of a teen pregnancy and temporarily halted her mothers plans for school. She was an outcast in her family, except for Tristen, Tristen was an outcast of the family too and was extremely close to Coveyn.
Now that Coveyn is 16 she begins to ask questions of her own father, and her mom is upset she is asking questions. When her mom doesn't answer her questions, Coveyn starts snooping on her own and discovers her mom's diary from high school. Inside was her adventures with Matt and Brian and Jimmy and the entire Avenged Sevenfold band. She finds Matt's number some how and calls him. He answers and is surprised it is Coveyn, his daughter he hasn't seen in 15 years. When Coveyn asks Matt if she can come out and live with him because she isn't even a part of the family, he immediately says yes. But her mom was listening to the conversation and confronts her.
Now Coveyn is in the middle of a battle between her parents on where she should live and all the while, Damond is beginning to hurt Tristen and Lydia, and even Coveyn sometimes. But not Candence. Coveyn just wants out.
Characters
Cadence Clyde
Coveyn's little sister. Is 'perfect' according to her father. Is the spoiled one of the family and gets anything she wants. Can be a brat when she doesn't get her way. Doesn't like Tristen at all. 7 years old
Coveyn Sanders-Mesa
Main character. She is the daughter of Matt and Lydia. Is an outcast in her family because of her step dad. Loves her brother Tristen with all of her heart.
Damond Clyde
Lydia's husband and father to her two children. Is a successful businessman with a lot of money. Is somewhat of a perfectionist that wants everything his way. When Tristen was born with a learning disability and hormone imbalance, he wasn't happy and got angry at everyone.
Gannon Wade
Coveyn's love interest in California. Goes to Huntington Beach High School and is known to be more of a player at the school. He keeps a lot of his home life secret from everyone because he doesn't like it. Is Gavin's twin brother.
Gavin Wade
Gannon's twin brother who is more of the philosophical and joking one of the group. He can make anyone's day better by just talking or saying one of his older quotes. Doesn't like his home life so he keeps it secret and covered with jokes and being smart.
Lydia Mesa-Clyde
Coveyn's mother. Was a teen mom who left with her daughter at 18 and moved to New York. She is a successful member of the government in New York and takes her role as a mother seriously and loves all of her children. Is Damond's wife.
Tristen Clyde
Was born with a slight learning disability and a growth hormone deficiency. He is small and an outcast in his family. Takes most of the beatings from his father and stays quiet about it because he is scared. Wishes Coveyn would take him with to California.
