*3Hrs Later*
April POV
Looking over at Emma who has both of her hands on the steering wheel tapping and singing along to Shinedown’s 45 a verse that I love and I can relate to gets stuck in my head “I am focused on what I am after, The key to the next open chapter, Cause I found a way to steal the sun from the sky, Long live that day that I decided to fly from the inside” I slowly start to drift off to sleep.
So after waking up, I only slept for an hour or two that last image in my mind was seeing the car in the rearview and see it still engulfed in flames which looked fucking badass by the way, I have my right elbow are on the side panel on the window just thinking about how my life has come to this… Then I looked over at Emma who was driving her noticing that I’m looking at her she asks “Are you hungry? Cause I sure as hell am.” I answer her with a small yawn and smile “Yeah I’m starving. Where are we by the way??” I ask curiously because I have no damn clue where we are... We both look out of our windows and see a sign that says ‘Welcome to New Mexico’ then we both look at each other with a knowing look then Emma says in a sarcastic tone “I think we are in New Mexico.” I just look at her and say “I guess we are in New Mexico...” We both look in front to see any places to eat. We find a small place called ‘Ellen’s Diner’ so we drive for about 10-20mins to find the dang place, one of my personal favorite songs come on the radio, and I can’t help but sing along to it, Emma notices and I see that it’s her fave song to so we both just go in full sing-along mode and start tapping on the dashboard and steering wheel…

After about another 10mins and after our awesome jam session we find the place called ‘Ellen’s’ she pulls off to the right side of the road to get to the parking lot finding a parking spot, parking the car in park we find a booth in the back corner of the place that looked a lot like all those small kitchens from the like the 1950’s or something.. The waitress with the name tag ‘Carsen’ walks over to us and says “Welcome to Ellen’s, What can I get you to ladies to drink?” she says in the most annoying high-pitched voice almost like it’s rehearsed or something.. I look at her and say “Sweet Tea.” and Emma “Coke please..’ the woman writes the orders down “Ok, I’ll be right back..” She walks away leaving me and Emma with our menus trying to decide what we want.. I have no clue maybe a burger or chicken strips.. Yeah I know chicken strips I maybe 24 but chicken strips are fuckin awesome.. “Have any clue what you want?” I say to Emma while she still stares at her menu, I haven’t noticed that our waitress walked back with our drinks “Here You go ladies, ready to order?.. “Yeah im going to get the Double Bacon Burger with extra bacon and curly fries please..” Emma says while putting her menu down.. Then Carsen looks over at me with her pen ready to write “I’ll have the Chicken strips with fries please.” She writes down and says “Ok, I’ll go put these orders in and I’ll be back.”
Then after 20 mins our food arrives and she refills our drinks.. I look at Emma before she could pick up her burger I clear my throat debating to tell her about my past I decide to clear my throat causing Emma to look at me, I say while looking at her with an uncertain look knowing that I can trust her “I need to tell you about my story..”
