Chapter Five

***Matt's POV***

I quickly ran to Ann's side, looking out the front window to see one of the Erasers fly off, holding a gun. "Ann!" I heard Lorie screech, still holding onto her grand-daughter Wait, that means I'm a Grandpa, my head spun. Kurt quickly picked Ann up and walked out the door as blood spread farther on her outfit. Lorie, looked after Kurt as he took Ann out of the house and walked down the sidewalk. "He's taking her to the hospital," Lorie stated, still in shock. She was holding onto her grand-daughter as if she was about to lose her.

"Where's the hospital?" I asked, my throat dry, as everything that just happened finally sank in.

"To the right, not even a block away," she whispered. "Do you need anything to drink?"

I looked towards Lorie, to see she was attempting to take her mind off of everything. I nodded my head. "Coffee would be great."

She nodded her head, then walked into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. I turned to the rest of the guys, who looked ashen faced. Johnny collapsed onto the couch, holding his head, exhausted. "You okay, Johnny?" I asked, sitting next to him, the rest of the guys sitting where ever there was space.

"I'll be fine," Johnny closed his eyes, leaning his head against the couch.

"Everyone else okay?" I got a few muttered yes's out of a few of the guys, along with nods from the rest. Lorie came into the room a few minutes later and handed me a cup of coffee while offering the rest of the guys some. She had put Hazel to bed. "Are you okay?"

Lorie nodded, "It hasn't happened in a while, but I'll be okay." She glanced at the clock, "We'll need to go to the hospital in a couple hours...Ann will be up by then."

"What I don't understand," Brian started, making everyone's attention turn to him. "Is why they had left you alone for so long if they hadn't wanted anything,"

"They don't just want Ann," Lorie started, looking around, her eyes looking tired. "They want Hazel too. They want to know how much avian DNA Ann transferred to her since the father is a normal human being. It's a medical mystery to them."

We sat in silence for a little while, before I got the balls to ask the next difficult question. "So what now?"

Lorie sat on the couch next to me, deliberating as to what she was going to say next. "Now, we wait and see what happens," she started out hesitantly. "It's not like we can just get up and leave. Kurt and I have the mortgage to pay for the house, and we have Celia to think of..."

The worry in Lorie's eyes were almost too much for me. "What if we took Ann and Hazel on tour with us?" I asked, making her look at me. "She'd constantly be moving so it'd be harder for them to find her."

"I couldn't ask that of you," Lorie whispered, looking down, then at the clock that was hanging above their box TV. Seriously that TV was old, it looked like it had wood lamination around the edging of it.

"I wouldn't mind doing it...guys?"

Johnny shrugged his shoulders in response. Brian nodded his head in approval, as Zacky looked uncertain about it. I looked towards Jimmy who looked like he could care less. "Well, it's decided. We'll take care of her during the tour."

Lorie smiled a little, "Just make sure you take it up with Ann before you leave."

I nodded, then glanced at the clock, "Did you want to go to the hospital?"

"Let me just tell Celia, we'll be gone for a bit," Lorie walked up the stairs to talk to her youngest daughter Celia, explaining what had happened. She arrived downstairs a couple minutes later. Soon we were off to the hospital. The receptionist told us which room Ann was in, then we got to go see how she was.

It broke my heart to see all the tubes in her. The doctor walked in and saw Lorie and started to discuss something with her. I looked towards Ann again this time noticing she had an oxygen mask on as well as a heart monitor. A couple minutes after we arrived her heart rate started to go up, setting off alarms. I saw her eyes fly open, and then hell broke loose.

***Ann's POV***

My eyes flew open as I took in my surroundings. I was in a hospital. Crap. The oxygen mask came off instantly along with the wires that I ripped out of my arms. I stood in a ready stance, my wings outstretched as I got myself ready to fly away from the slightest sign of danger. I calmed down slowly at the sight of my mom, who was attempting to get me to sit on the bed.

Slowly beginning to relax, I sat on the edge of the bed as I took in who had come to the hospital. I saw the Avenged guys still looking at me like I had two heads, which made me more annoyed than it should have. "What?" I snapped, glancing out the door to my room in time to see a doctor peeking in. I started when I thought I recognized them, making me jump off the bed, in a rage, and run towards the door, snarling.

"Ann, get back in here," my mom quietly told me, making me shut the door, as I sat down, still in a bad mood. I crossed my arms, as my mom handed me my cell phone. "Do what you have to," she sighed, letting me stand up, and walk a couple feet out of the room, wincing a little from my fast healing wounds.

I quickly dialed my friend, Karla's, number.

"Hey what's up?" Karla's always perky voice asked, slightly worried. She knew I was never up this late unless something happened.

"I'm at the ER, come here. Bring Alex too if you want,"

"Okay?" I heard the alarm in Karla's voice.

"I'm fine...for now. Just come here,"

"Alright," Karla's voice sounded uncertain, but she knew enough to not argue when I was in this kind of mood.

I hung up my phone and walked back into the hospital room, waiting for my discharge papers.

Matt looked at me weird as I laid on the bed waiting for my friends to meet me here. Nobody else knew it but my friends had also been taken with me to the testing facility. I had escaped before them. I'm still not exactly sure how they had escaped, but was I ever glad that they had. Before I knew what was going on I had Karla with her arms around me, and Alex watching over me protectively .

"Guys, relax, I'm fine," I attempted to say as Karla tried to smother me.

"No you're not, now explain," Karla said in her no-nonsense-or-die tone.

I rolled my eyes, then sighed. "Fine."
