Katie’s P.O.V.
“Sis calm down,” Ruby said gently. She was rubbing my back being a good friend. I just came out of the bathroom and totally freaked out. I was pregnant with a rockstars kid. I knew I was, there was no doubt about it since I hadn’t had a boyfriend for a year and then I slept with Brian and now, I have a child growing inside of me.
Everything in the room felt like it was closing in on me and it was making me panic. I didn’t want to be a single mom! That was the last thing on my mind! My mom had to raise me on my own and I saw how bad of an idea it was and I didn’t want to go through what my mom did.
“You know I am going to be here every step of the way Katie, and Jimmy. He’s talking to Brian right now about this,” She told me. Hearing this made me feel a little bit better but I was still panicking inside. Slowly though, I did calm down. I needed to get my act together and be there for the baby. I couldn’t get an abortion, that’s just mean and it was murder. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I did that to a baby.
“Are you alright now?” Ruby asked me. I nodded and she came and sat down beside me, “Good, a man named Luke called you, said that he would like to see you,” She explained to me. I nodded and thanked her again and she left out of my room and I grabbed my cell phone and got to my feet and looked out the window calling him to see what he needed.
Luke was the guy that wanted to hire me to work at a music store that was a few miles away since I had answered his ad on Craigslist. I called him back and he asked me a series of questions and I was thrilled to hear that I was now hired at Richard’s Music Shop.
Maybe being a single mother wasn’t as bad as it sounded. I was going to get my feet pointing to the right direction and I knew that it was going to be a start for something new and probably a step towards my dream. I thanked him and hung up the phone and went and told Ruby about new job and we went out to celebrate only to come to trouble.
Brian’s P.O.V.
“Your going to see her whether you like it or not,” Jimmy told me. We were coming home tonight and he asked his girl to go out and she texted back saying that it was the perfect timing since Katie just got a job and they were going to celebrate. We were going to be the surprise to them. Katie is going to be surprised alright.
“No! I ain’t going to go!” I exclaimed at him. I didn’t want to see her, I didn’t want to be a father! This was just going to make hell for the both of us and because I was afraid I was going to hurt her or something, which I was bound to do anyways.
“Yes you are Brian! Be a man and take a step!” Jimmy explained to me.
“I can’t lose another baby!” I cried out to him. He looked at me in shock just like the rest of my friends. It was true, I lost a baby with Michelle only because I forced her to kill it. I told her to go and get an abortion and having another kid scared me. I was young and I was scared I wouldn’t be a good father. I was always gone and I wasn’t the best role model too.
“Bri…” Jimmy began. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair and Matt stood up from the couch and put a hand on my shoulder.
“Man…you need to do something, it’s your fault anyways but I just want to let you know that we are there for you no matter what,” he said gently and I smiled to him and thanked him and all my friends. It was nice to know that I had someone by my side for this. I just hope I was going to have Katie at my side.
