Brian’s P.O.V.
I rushed into the hospital and went to go and find Katie but Ruby had stopped me and shoved me away.
“You a**hole!” She snarled.
“What?” I asked her totally not getting why she was so upset with me. I was here for Katie, the mother of our child, I was here for her. Sure I probably had feelings for her but I wasn’t even sure. I wanted to be with her but she was shoving me away. I knew that I should of went anyways, that it didn’t matter. But, now was the time that she needed me. Or so I thought.
“I can’t believe you!” She hollered, “She needed you! You should of went after her! Y-”
“Baby,” Jimmy came behind his girl and wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back from me. She started to calm down but her jaw stayed tight and streams of tears started to go down her face. Katie was her best friend, they were like sisters so Ruby was going to do anything to protect Katie.
“You better have a da*n good apology Brian,” Ruby said before her and Jimmy left. I sighed, running my fingers through my hair and looked inside the room seeing Katie laying on the bed with a white blanket placed over her body. I felt my heart beginning to go up to my throat. I didn’t want Katie here laying in a hospital bed! This was the last place I wanted her to be in.
I took a deep breath and came inside and pulled up a chair next to her and sat there. I didn’t know what to say right now, I never knew what to say. I was always so nervous around her and my mind going blank when she looked at me. Katie was so beautiful, I just choked last night. She didn’t want to be near me, that’s fine but I should of went after her. This was turning into being my fault. Then why am I here? It’s obvious that she didn’t want to be near me and it was obvious she didn’t need me.
“Hey cousin,” I heard Ryan say. I looked and saw that Ryan and Rikki just came into the room and I gave them a small smile and looked to Katie again. I didn’t know what I was doing here to begin with.
“Hey.” I said lightly. I came and grabbed Katie’s hand and squeezed it before getting up from my seat, “What are you two doing here?” I asked them.
“Just came to see how she was,” Ryan said and told me what had happened. I felt my heart fall, he saved her? I knew I asked him to watch out for her but to hear that he saved her made my stomach twist into knots and I don’t know why.
“Well,” I said standing. I held Katie’s hand one more time and squeezed it, “I guess you got it covered cuz,” I said with a small smile and let of out of the hospital room without saying another word.
Katie’s P.O.V.
I woke up with the smell of death inside the room that made me shutter.
“Your up,” I heard. For some reason, when I heard that it wasn’t Brian, my heart shattered. I opened my eyes and saw the savior from last night looking at me with a smile on his face. I smiled back at him, feeling warm and safe with his hand on top of mine. He was my savior, he is the one that saved me.
“Thank you Ryan,” I whispered. I felt better but my body still felt a little weird.
“Anything for a beautiful girl like you,” He smiled brightly at me and I felt my heart race inside my chest. His smile was bright and beautiful and looked so peaceful. He looked like one of those bad guys but then there was something about him that was sweet, really sweet.
“They said that the baby was safe and that you are going to be able to go home when you are up,” Ryan told me. I smiled at him and he helped me out of the bed since there was no one else here.
“I’ll go and find Ruby,” Rikki told me. I thanked him and he left to go find my best friend while Ryan carefully helped me out of the bed. My best friend came in with a bad of clothes and Ryan had left, letting me be able to change into my clothes.
“Where’s Brian?” I asked Ruby quietly. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.
“Sis you don’t need to be with someone like that. He doesn’t care about you, if he did he would of ran after you last night,” She said reassuringly. I knew that she was right and hearing it was reassuring for me.
Brian never cared, he was in fact using me. I guess I was just going to be a single mother, just like my mother. It was running in the family and I was hopeless.
I came out of the hospital feeling down and depressed but then when Ryan came up to me and asked me out on a date, all hope was back in me and of course, I couldn’t say no.
