Chapter 38: Stumbling Aimlessly
Erin’s P.O.V
For the past hour we have been talking about the recent events from last night. Everyone was so excited that Zack and I were married but I felt off about the way Zack was acting right now. He seemed distracted and that something was really really bothering him which bothered me. My phone rang loudly pulling me from my thoughts. I got up and answered it not knowing what to expect.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Ah hello there Erin; didn’t expect me did you” Papa Gates said. At least he was talking over the phone and not busting any doors off the hinges.
“I knew I would hear from you sometime, it just takes me off guard that you are taking a break from being a moronic asshole of a demon and calling me instead of destroying Zack’s house” I said and he scoffed at me.
“There is no need for you to be a little bitch about this Erin” He said and I rolled my eyes pacing back and forth.
“And there is no need for you to be calling me a bitch Papa Gates; ya know, I am usually a really sweet person but you just really seem to hit a fucking nerve with me. OH WAIT! Maybe it is the fact that you hurt me and you took everything from me and you think that it’s okay. Reality check SIR! It is NOT okay for you to do that” I said starting to get really loud making everyone look at me. Brian came over trying to listen in on the conversation.
“You need to learn about respect little girl! Did I not teach you that the last time you were with me? Maybe I should come and remind you of why you shouldn’t say things like that to me” He said getting really pissy. Brian was trying to take the phone from me but I pushed him off glaring at him. I covered the phone with my hand.
“What the fuck are you still talking to him for Erin! Hang up the god damn phone” Brian said still trying to grab it from me.
“Stop Brian” I said but since he was taller than me he took the phone and put it to his ear.
“Dad I am serious you need to leave her alone” He said to his father and I just sat there with my hand on my forehead. He paused listening to his father speak.
“Do you really think that I am going to believe you about this? You have betrayed me so many times and hurt the people that I loved” He said replying and he walked into the other room.
“Fine; I will look into it…. ALRIGHT BYE” He said loudly and then hung up and walked back out to the living room. He handed me the phone like nothing was going on at all. I just gave him a really confused look.
“What?” He asked and I just sat there.
“Tell me what he said” I said to him sternly.
“It was nothing that you need to be concerned with Erin, just drop it” He said and I just rolled my eyes.
“I am not stupid; anything that is said by your father affects me so you should not be hiding things from me. The last time that you all made a deal without me I flipped shit and I do not wish to go back down that road” I said and he stormed out of the house. I followed after him and he turned around taking me off guard making me nearly bump right into him.
“Don’t follow me Erin” He said and turned back around. I pulled him by the shirt forcing him back around.
“What is the deal with you Brian? You need to tell me… I need to know!” I said starting to get a little upset that he was hiding valuable information from me.
“Erin please if you are going to get mad at least come inside the house” He said motioning towards his door and he went inside and I followed if it meant that I was going to get answers out of him. I sat down on his couch while he paced around his huge living room.
“Okay so have you been noticing anything weird about Zack today?” He asked me and I thought of how jumpy he was earlier.
“He was acting really weird earlier after I got out of the shower; he was really jumpy and he was really just acting off” I said trailing off knowing that on the phone Papa Gates must have said something about Zack. I gave Brian a really sad look and he stopped pacing.
“He said that he had a vision…. And it was of Zack” He said and I didn’t know what to say or do or how to even mentally prepare myself for the bomb that I thought was going to drop on me.
“Please just tell me Brian; I am going out of my mind just thinking and wondering about what could come after that statement” I said and he sat down next to me and held my hand.
“The vision was of Zack changing you into a vampire…. But in that time he loses control from the taste and he ends up taking your powers as well leaving you as only a vampire” He said and I was in pure shock. I felt like I was almost flat lining in my brain. I rubbed my head trying to breathe through the fact that the man that I just married could be thinking about just wanting me as a vampire. I felt sick to my stomach and ran to the bathroom and emptied the contents of my stomach. When I came back out Matt was with Brian and they both just turned and stared at me. Matt walked up to me and I looked up at him.
“Somethings not right Matt” I said and then fainted falling into Matt.
Matt’s P.O.V
Erin fell into my arms after I saw her come out from the bathroom. I had no clue what was going on with her but whatever it was…. It wasn’t good.
“Oh my god is she okay?” Brian asked and I lied her down on the couch and went and grabbed a glass of water knowing that she would wake up sometime.
“Dude what the heck did you say to her? She hasn’t freaked out this much since Jake called her the first time” I said and he ran his hands through his hair a little trying to keep his cool.
“Alright so there is a chance that Zack may make Erin a full on vamp and lose control with her. My father told me that he had a vision about it. But it was just a possibility; he lies all the time. He could just be messing with our heads” Brian said and he was right. This could all happen or it could just be a lie…. But it still wouldn’t throw her into shock this much. I saw her move and groan a little and her eyes fluttered open and she looked a little frightened but we sat her up and then she hugged me tightly. I sat there and hugged her back but was still unsure why she was hugging me. She broke from the hug.
“Sorry I just really needed a big hug and you were the closest person” She said and Brian put his hand on her forehead.
“Are you feeling alright?” He asked and then felt her cheeks.
“I am fine, just a little on the dizzy side” She said picking herself up off the couch. I guided her up and she smiled.
“I should probably get back over to Zack now” She said and we both smiled and she went back to her house. I turned to Brian.
“Do you think something is off with Erin?” I asked him and he nodded.
“I think that something is off with the both of them” He said. He was right; there seemed to be more issues than just Papa Gates right now…
