Chapter 33: Normal
Erin’s P.O.V
I rubbed my face as I slowly opened my eyes. I felt weaker today and then I remembered my encounter last night with Papa Gates. I looked at the marks on my wrist and went upstairs getting in the shower making sure after to cover it up with a few bracelets. When I got dressed and went downstairs I found Iz in the kitchen flipping pancakes and had Avenged Sevenfold on full blast. I danced a little hearing the song Lost and came in and got some coffee and we just laughed and danced together. She honestly was the only one who was able to actually get my mind off of the current situation. She finished up setting everything on the table and walked out the front door.
“COME AND GET BREAKFAST FUCKFACES!” She yelled and I spat some of my coffee out after hearing her yell that. She came back in turning down the music and smiled.
“Well you sure how to make the mornings a party!” I said and she smiled. Everyone literally ran inside and Brian nearly knocked down Johnny on his way in. The last person to come in was Zack. I motioned for him to come over and sit next to me. He came over and kissed my forehead grabbing a plate of food. I only had one pancake and sat there sipping coffee while all the girls watched the guys eat…. It was horrifying the amount of food that was going into their mouths.
“So what the hell are we going to do about the fact that Erin has no powers? I mean we…” Brian said and Izzy just put her hand in Brian’s face and shook her head.
“No no, we will not be talking about anything dealing with the situation today; we are going to enjoy the beautiful day and we will figure it out tomorrow. For Erin’s sake we really need to let her get used to being a human and just let her live for once” She said and Brian just sat there. She always did have a way of getting what she wanted.
“But what happens when Papa Gates, Jake or Meaghan shows up?” Matt asked and Iz just shot him a glare and I just started laughing really hard making them all look at me.
“I am sorry but I just remembered something from the old days” I said and Iz just looked at me and I raised my eyebrows smiling at her and she started cracking up. I got up taking the empty plates to the dishwasher loading up and grabbing more coffee.
“So what are we doing today?” I asked walking into the living room and picking up a guitar and strumming it. It felt good to just strum and feel the guitar in my hands. She grabbed a guitar as well and just sat there strumming as well.
“I would love to get Erin on stage one of our shows!” Matt said and I was just so focused on playing. I stopped for a moment. I could feel that they all were just staring at me. I ran down to the basement searching for one of me pedals for the guitar and I ran back upstairs after finding. I plugged it in and sat there recreating Brian’s part for Hail to the King. I sat there jamming and Iz was just strumming along with me. After we finished I sat there feeling relieved.
“See that is what she needed! To be herself and let everything out in her own way! Erin will be fine, just let her do what she needs to do. I learned that the hard way years ago” She said laughing. I put my guitar down and grabbed Izzy running outside.
Matt’s P.O.V
We all watched Erin run outside lighting up while playing with her best friend. She thought it was a curse being human but I have never seen her happier. Izzy was right that we needed to just let her be for once. I ran over to Erin and threw her on my shoulder and spun her around and she just kept laughing.
“Put me down” She said beating at my back. I put her down and she moved the hair out of her face smiling really big. She ran over to Zack and jumped on him kissing him and I walked over to Izzy nudging her a little.
“So you two have been friends for a really long time” I said making conversation with her.
“Umm yeah; her mom took care of me for a really long time so Erin and I are really close” She said just watching Erin run around with everyone.
“She seems so calm around you, she has been through so much that I didn’t think she would ever smile like that” I said and she just stared at me.
“So you married Jimmy?” I asked her and she lit up at the thought of him.
“I met him once or twice a long time ago and then when he came up to heaven I watched over him along with Maria and then 6 months later I don’t know we just decided to tie the knot. He is a crazy and awesome and just all out amazing man and he can totally rock those drums” She said. He was still the same Jimmy for sure. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Papa Gates across the street and tensed up making Izzy look over confused.
“Who is that?” She asked.
“That would be Papa Gates… Erin’s worst nightmare” I said and he started walking across the street. I looked at Johnny and he swung Erin behind him and to Lacy and Izzy walked over to Erin on the other side.
“What the hell do you want now?” I asked and he walked over to me.
“I just want a trade for right now” He said and I just watched him motion for someone to come out. All of the sudden I saw both Jake and Meaghan drag an unconscious Jimmy into the area and we all freaked out.
“What’s the trade?” I asked and he came closer to me.
“Another taste of Erin for Jimmy; that is a really fair trade” He said and I just looked at Erin and I saw her step forward.
Erin’s P.O.V
I stepped forward knowing that right now I would do anything for Jimmy. He stirred and then
woke up in their arms and I smiled and then looked over at Iz and I could see the two beaming at one another. I walked over to Papa Gates.
“Let him go now” I said and he let Jimmy go and he ran to Izzy stumbling a little.
“Take him inside Iz” I said and she nodded and then went inside. I stood there with Papa Gates wondering where he was going to take blood from me this time.
“Where do you want it from” I asked and he motioned over my shoulder. I moved straps of my shirt down and he came up behind me and bit slowly so I didn’t scream. I fell backwards into him after a moment as he kept going and then stopped. I sat there in his arms and he walked over and dropped me with Zacky and he took me inside and I once again passed out.
Matt’s P.O.V
“Gates what the hell was the point of that visit??” I asked.
“Oh ya know just trying to weaken my little play toy; I will be back tomorrow he said and disappeared. Izzy came running out and she hugged me.
“Is Erin okay? She asked. I didn’t even know what to say to anyone. We took everyone inside so that we could put Erin and Jimmy to bed.
Boy was this just a great day…..
