Chapter 31: Take it Down
Erin’s P.O.V
The sun was bright and my eyes didn’t see things the same as they did while being an angel. We stood on the beach and the sand was coarse and cold. I stood there in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt which was not what I came in. There was honestly a huge chill in the air and I just rubbed my arms and Jake let go.
“I am going to leave you now” He said and I just sat there.
“But, it is freezing out and I have no powers?” I said and before I knew it he disappeared. Some help Jake was to me right now. I walked making my way through the beachy area and then up Main street. It was getting really dark out and I was just tired. I finally made it home and sat down on the steps of my porch. I looked around literally I didn’t know what to do. I got up and went inside and I saw Zack lying on the couch. I tip toed over towards him and sat on the coffee table just happy to see him but at the same time I wondered how the hell he was going to be able to love me since all I am now is human. I rubbed his cheek crying a little.
“Oh Zack what have I done…” I whispered softly and he opened his eyes and shot up and hugged me and I gasped because he was squeezing so hard.
“Zack” I said letting go of him and he broke from the hug.
“You seem different; what happened? I can’t feel you at all since there was a huge stab to the heart in feelings” He said holding both sides of my cheek.
“You can’t feel me because I am not a vampire or angel anymore… I am…. Human” I said and he closed his eyes and I could see that he was a little distant now. I backed off because I felt like he wasn’t going to love me the same anymore.
“I think that you should go” I said and he opened his eyes and looked sad.
“Why do I need to go” He asked.
“Now that I am a human you don’t love me the same; I can tell that you are distant from me” I said and he pushed his lips to mine. I sat there taking it in.
“I love you the same no matter what Erin; I am still with you” He said looking me right in the eyes while on centimeters from my face. I put my hand in the back of his hair and kissed him again. We sat there making out until there was a knock on the door. Zack got up and I just sat there and saw that it was Val and Matt that were at the door. They came in with Zack and they were about to hug me but he halted them.
“There is something that you should know before you hug her” He said and they just looked at him really confused and eager to hug me.
“Take it easy with hugging her; she is human and breakable” He said and they were in pure shock and they came over and hugged me tightly but not enough to crush my bones. When they let go Val just stared at me.
“It is going to take some getting used to seeing you like this” She said and I sighed because I missed the way I looked before. I felt a mess.
“So the question is why did he take her, change her and then let her go?” Matt asked. Just then thinking of Papa Gates I remembered what I had done… The flashbacks shook my mind and it nearly blinded me and I dropped and cried.
“What the hell happened?” Zack said and he and Matt rushed down to my side. I just pushed everyone off.
“I… he made me… I killed my mom” I said and they just stood there shocked. After a moment we all heard a noise and then we Jake in the kitchen. I shot up and he smiled.
“How are you holding up? Sorry I had to leave you there” He said and came over and hugged me. He pulled away pretty fast probably because he knew Zack wasn’t happy that he was touching me. Zack wrapped his arm around me waist and Jake stepped back.
“I am not here to come between you and Erin; I have just come to say that all of this is Papa Gates new plan” Jake said.
“Why should we believe you though?” Val asked taking control. I stepped forward.
“Because he just wiped out my mother, Jimmy is missing, I am powerless and he led me back up here as human. This isn’t for nothing” I said and Val came over and hugged me.
“What if you turned her again Zack?” Val asked and Jake shook his head.
“You can’t” He said taking Val off guard.
“Why not?” Zack asked still cold towards Jake.
“Because the second you do that Papa Gates will be back to collect again… He is watching her every move and he won’t stop” He said.
“Why don’t you two go and get the rest of the group” Jake said to Matt and Val and they nodded and left. I sat down catching my breath from taking in the sudden realization that I was stuck being a human and suddenly I had a thought.
“Omg” I said loudly and Zack just looked down at me.
“Jake… don’t lie to me right now… did Papa Gates take Jimmy down to Hell?” I asked and he put his head down… I got up and slapped him as hard as I possibly could. He just stared at me and I knew he wasn’t affected at all but I was pissed. Zack grabbed me and hugged me but I pulled loose.
“THEN WHO IS RUNNING HEAVEN?” I asked horrified.
Jimmy was in hell…. I killed my mother….
Just then the plan became clear…
He was going to use me to take down Heaven
