Chapter 10: New Found Glory
Brian’s P.O.V
“I can’t believe that she left to go with my father” I said trying to think of why she would want to do that.
“Brian she is angry and confused and she just didn’t think there was anything left to do; she will be back” Arin said trying to comfort him.
“You don’t know my father; he will do anything he wants to do down there. She is playing by their rules; she is gonna get herself hurt” I said trying to not think of what happens when she doesn’t call him sir or is rude to him.
“Brian is right we should have never let her go; Papa Gates is way too strong for her to take on by herself. Zack can you feel anything?” Matt said and asked Zack trying to make sure everything was okay. I knew this was the worst on him and whatever she felt could easily come back to Zack with how powerful their connection was.
“She is afraid mainly; she is calm but I can tell that at times she panics” He said and then grabbed a beer to numb the pain and fear of possibly losing her.
“I know this is an awful question to ask but what will Papa Gates do with her if she is rude to him or goes against him in any way Syn?” Johnny asked trying to tread lightly on the subject.
“Could be anything; he could slap her, bite her, rape her, torture her. The list of things is pretty endless because he is a very creative person” I said and saw Zack immediately cringe at the sound of Erin being raped by my own father. I put my hand on his shoulder trying to make him feel a little better.
“Dude she will be fine; he won’t rape her and he won’t kill her. She will be back; just hold on till then” I said trying to make him believe me even though I didn’t believe the words that just came out of my mouth. I knew that he would hurt her and make her realize the stupidity of coming down there.
Erin’s P.O.V
“Hayley; I am so sorry! I wasn’t thinking when I left; I never thought that they would bring you down here” I said hugging her as best that I could. I felt like I was going to break her with how terrible she looked.
“Erin you are my best friend and you mean the world to me; I am alive and I am okay just a little tired and sore but I promise you don’t need to worry about me” She said smiling and crying because we spent almost all of our lives together. She coughed a little and then brought me closer.
“I overheard Jake and his master talking about you Erin; if you want I can try and help you as best as I can” She said. I hugged her again and then Jake barged through the door and Hayley and I stayed holding on to each other.
“Let’s take you to see my new friend Erin; and maybe we will have a little fun” He said motioning for me to get up.
“I am not leaving Hayley alone you asshole” I said and he folded his arms across his chest.
“I am going to give you one more chance to come with me Erin” He said. I looked at Hayley and she just nodded and smiled a little and I got up and walked over to Jake. He took hold of the side of my arm and walked me out into the open. I saw Papa Gates and it looked like he was talking to a girl and getting her up to speed. When he moved I stopped seeing that it was Meaghan and I knew that she really hated me right now. Jake fiercely pulled my arm and kept me moving so that I could talk to her. Yeah right cause talking is really what she wants to do right now. She stood in front of me smiling.
“Bet you thought you would never see me again Erin” I said and just like that she swung her arm and slapped me right across the face making my skin burn a little. I sat there for a moment with my hair in my face and then I moved making my hair fall back down. I laughed a little.
“Is that all you’ve got” I said trying to not laugh too hard. She was getting ready to go again but Papa Gates stopped her.
“Now now; play time isn’t until later my dear. Right now we need to get Erin some information” Papa Gates said.
“I want to make you a deal sir” I said putting sir in air quotes because I really just wanted to get the hell out of here. His face turned dark but I really didn’t care at the moment.
“I’m listening” He said.
“You made a deal that you get access to me whenever you want it and in return I get a month before everything goes down” I said making sense of the deal.
“You are correct” He said waiting intrigued by me wanting to make a deal.
“I still want that month but I will add more than just access to me physically; if I also give you rights to my thoughts, no more than 2 minutes a day, well I want to make sure that I make it back up, that you teach me one piece of my power and Hayley goes with me” I said and they both just sat there acting like the price was too high. I sat there waiting for an answer.
“Hmm since you are keeping me waiting you are down to one minute a day” I said and they just glared at me and then at each other.
“You can’t know anything about what you are or what you are capable of doing” Papa Gates said to me.
“Yeah yeah yeah; I have heard that before but realize that you can either teach me one or I will figure it out on my own and when I do; I will show no mercy on you” I said walking towards Papa Gates and getting in his face.
“You are walking a fine line Erin; don’t cross it” He said and just stayed where I was standing my ground because I didn’t want to leave without Hayley or a little of my power.
“That is just too high of a price Erin” He said and I slapped him and then turned to walk away but he grabbed my arm really tight and threw me to the ground. He followed me and tried to pin me down and I kicked him in the stomach making him fall to the side and I got up and Jake grabbed me from behind and I threw my arms back trying to break from his hold. All I could think about was being with Hayley right now. I saw Papa Gates get up and walked towards me and I closed my eyes only thinking about Hayley and all of the sudden it was quiet and nobody was holding me. I opened my eyes and looked around and saw Hayley with wide eyes. I grabbed her and threw her arm over my shoulder and grabbed my bag. I sat there thinking about being in my neighborhood. I heard a loud boom and the door swung open. Jake, Papa Gates and Meaghan were standing in the doorway.
“Change in plans, access to me once a week physically and I get 2 weeks and that is it” I said and Papa Gates came closer.
“Don’t you dare leave you fucking bitch” He said.
“Come and get me” I said and before I knew it Hayley and I were standing in the middle of the street right in front of my house. Hayley dropped a little out of breath from the ride up here and I put her on my lap and stroked her hair.
“ZACK!!” I called out hoping that they were all around and someone would be here but nobody came and I noticed that their cars were gone. I grabbed my cell phone out and called Zack and waited and waited but there was no answer. I looked down at her and pulled her up and took her inside my house trying to make her more comfortable.
“Let me get you something to eat and then you can have one of my bedrooms to get some rest in” I said and made her some soup. I sat there making sure that she ate it all.
“I have so much to tell you Erin” She said softly dozing in and out. I smiled and held her hand.
“And you can tell me..After you sleep” I said and picked her up and carried her up to the bedroom and lied her in bed. She quickly pulled the blankets up and passed out. I went into my bathroom and took a long shower and then changed into some black silk shorts and a black camisole and walked downstairs watching out the window. After a moment I closed my eyes and just thought of Zack and just locked onto him and the fact that he felt worried yet he felt happy and then next thing I know its loud and bright and I heard a mass amount of gasps and I opened my eyes and I was in front of Zack and he was playing with his eyes shut and when he opened them he dropped his guitar pick. I so did not have the hang of doing this. I smiled and then kissed him gently and then ended up back at my house. I ran upstairs and Hayley was still sleeping soundly which was nice. I went to my bedroom and sat at the edge of the bed trying to breathe; trying to grasp the fact that my power is starting to show. I went downstairs and lied down on the couch going over what has been happening and then my doorbell rang and when I opened the door there was a letter taped to the door.
I sat there with it in my hands debating whether I wanted to read it or not.
“Oh Erin just suck it up and read it” I said to myself and then opened the letter.
Erin,
You ran away so fast that we didn’t even get time to talk about you and your powers.
Meet me at that coffee shop tomorrow at noon and we will talk alone again.
You surprised me figuring out one of your gifts so fast.

Papa Gates
I sat there and decided that I would go and see him tomorrow to see if he was actually going to talk to me or whether he was just playing me. He knew now that I could leave in an instant if I really wanted to and it was in a public place so I am sure that I will be okay. After a moment of silence Zack barged through the door and came over and picked me up hugging me tightly.
“I missed you so much that I thought I saw you on stage while we were doing the song Afterlife” He said into my neck.
“You didn’t imagine it; I was really there” I said and he put me down and backed up a little.
“So wait; you were actually there?” He asked and looked me up and down realizing that I was wearing the clothes that he saw me in.
“Yes I was there; new found gift of mine that I haven’t quite gotten the hang of; we need to be quiet, my best friend Hayley is upstairs asleep. I grabbed her before I left” I said. He came back over and hugged me tightly and kissed the top of my head.
“I am so glad that you are back” He said.
“You aren’t going to be too happy with me once I tell you that tomorrow I am meeting up with Papa Gates again” I said and his facial expression grew cold as he broke from the hug. He sat down on the couch.
“I don’t like the idea of you doing things on your own with the fact that they are most likely going to try and kill you one of these days” He said losing control a little. I sat down next to him and placed my head on his shoulder.
“You are just going to have to trust that I know what I am doing; I will need you when the time comes but as of right now he cannot do anything to me; now why don’t we go to bed and we will talk with the band tomorrow” I said trying to calm him down. He turned to me and just gazed at me.
“I love you Erin” He said and then and there my whole world felt different…
For once I felt as if there was someone to help me and make me feel whole again; I needed him because in two weeks time…The battle would begin.
