Promises Broken and Words Left Unspoken
It Doesn't Look Good

Jimmy, Johnny, Matt, Val and I made it to the hospital in record time after getting a call. They had called one of the top in case of emergency contacts on Brian’s phone to try and get a hold of someone. Apparently, they couldn’t get through to Papa Gates or Suzy, so they called me, (Surprisingly I'm his third 'in case of emergency' contact.) …and I called the guys. I walked up to the desk and spoke quickly. “Is Brian Haner and Madison James here? I got a call because they couldn’t reach their parents,” I stated in one big run on sentence. The nurse checked her books and nodded before biting her lip and speaking softly.
“I can’t give information to anyone whose not family,” She stated and I bit down on my snakebites to come up with a plan. The first thing that came to my mind was acting as a boyfriend or something.
“But um…Madi is my..,” I cut off realizing girlfriend wouldn’t be strong enough. “Fiancée,” I stated hoping it would work. She looked at me skeptically as I moved a gold band that used to belong to my grandfather to the right finger to make the statement believable. I held up my hand and made my expression a little more pained. “Please…I need to see her,” I whimpered quietly, praying that it was believable. The nurse sighed but agreed as Jimmy whispered in my ear.
“Brian is going to kill you,” I nodded but followed after the nurse whispering about how they need to find a way to get to Brian. I walked into the hospital room and bit my lip at the sight. Madison was unconscious, but was hooked up to what looked to be like five different machines.
I swallowed before asking, “What’s wrong with her?”
“She may fall into a coma. She had a lot of internal bleeding, which the doctor fixed. She has a few cracked ribs, what isn’t cracked is bruised. She needed stitches on her left arm, her right wrist is broken. She also has a mild concussion and a punctured lung, which we’re going to try and fix later after we finish replacing the blood that was lost,” The nurse explained while gesturing to the bag of blood next to the medicine that was hooked up to her IV. Madi had a machine breathing for her, a heartrate monitor hooked up to her, and another machine that I wasn’t sure of. All I knew for sure, was that, she was lucky to be alive.
I told the nurse I was going to try and call her father and walked out to where Val and the guys were. Val had convinced the new lady behind the desk that she was Brian’s sister and had said it was fine for the guys to come with. When we walked into Brian’s room…it was a different story completely. He had some scratches, his left wrist was in a brace because it was sprained, and he had a few stitches here and there. How he managed to get out like that while Madi came out so mangled…I don’t think I will ever fully understand.
Brian was awake and spoke quietly when the nurse left. “The light was green…I don’t know what happened…they told me I have a concussion…did they tell you guys how Madi is? They barely told me that she was still alive” He sounded beyond depressed. All of the eyes in the room went to me.
“Ask her fiancé,” Jimmy told him with a slight smirk as I growled at him.
“I only said that so I could get in. She’s in bad shape bro," I paused and licked my lips. "She has some broken bones, stitches, a concussion, and they’re going to try and fix a puncture in her lung in a bit. They said they needed to replenish her blood first…I don’t know for sure but I think she had stitches on her forhead…her hair was hiding them though,” I stated honestly as he sighed.
“The cops came in and asked me about it. They wanted a description of the car that hit us but I couldn’t remember almost any of it,” He stated rubbing at his temple, looking frustrated with himself. “Did you guys call her dad?”
“We keep trying to but his voicemails full. We hope the hospital left a message for him,” I told him quietly. He nodded but didn’t look any more relieved. He put his head in his hands and sighed. “We should have just went home.”
