Scream

New Home?

I didn't know what to say. He knew. He didn't know everything, but his imagination could probably figure out what else was going on between Brian and me. I bit my lip and looked down.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about," he murmured. I kept my silence as he walked over and sat down on the bed in front of me. "Why didn't you tell me?" I still didn't say anything. He sighed. "I can help you out of this-"

"I don't need help," I said quickly, then thought for a second. "At least I don't think I do."

"Do you like what you and Brian have going on? I know you know it's wrong and against the law, but are you okay with it?" I took a shaky breath.

"I don't know," I whispered. He watched me for a few seconds. I wanted to say something, but nothing came out.

"What else has he done with you?" I caught his gaze and saw strain in his eyes. He hated Brian for this. Don't ask me how I knew this, I just did.

"I'm sure you could guess-" He cut me off.

"I want you to tell me the truth. No guessing, this is serious." I looked away again, but he tilted my head up with his index finger so I had to stare straight at him. "What else have you done with him, Courtney?" His rearranging of the words in that sentence made him sound more concerned for my well-being than he was for Brian's legal record. Did I want to get out of this? DId I want what I had going with Brian to end?

"I... we..." No. "Nothing else." He didn't believe me. It was obvious.

"Courtney, tell me. If you don't tell me, I will report him for suspected child abuse."

"Matt, stop," I said. "Nothing is going on-"

"That is not how a guy kisses his sister." I hit his hand away and hung my head in my hands.

"Can you please just forget about what you saw," I said in a begging/whining tone. "I can't deal with this right now."

"You have to, because I am not going to let this go." He didn't say anything for a few seconds until he stood up. "Get dressed, we're going to your house." My head snapped up to look at him.

"No we're not," I said lowly. He crossed his arms over his chest.

"Yes. We are. If you're not out there in five minutes, I'm coming back in and I will carry you." A wave of fear crashed over me as he walked out, shutting the door behind him. I stood up and threw on whatever shirt and pants I pulled out of my bag. I walked out as Matt started walking back toward the room I was just in.

"You're lucky, I was being serious," he muttered. I followed him out of the house and to his car. He sped to my house without passing a single cop and parked in the driveway without caring to check if the car was straight or anything. He was pissed. He got out and walked to the door, so I got out and ran after him. He was ready for a fight.

"Matt, please," I said, catching up to him. He stopped and looked down at me.

"I'm just going to talk to him, all right? Nothing else is going to happen." I didn't believe him. I was so screwed the next time I was alone with Brian. He turned the doorknob and the door was unlocked. He walked right in without knocking or anything.

"Courtney, baby, is that you," Brian called from his room. He walked to the living room where Matt was standing. I stayed by the door. He took one look at Matt and I saw the fear in his eyes. He hissed, "Shit." He looked to me with a shocked expression.

"Don't look at her," Matt demanded. Brian returned his gaze to his friend.

"I'll look at her all I damn well want-" Matt cut him off.

"Yeah, especially when you're fucking her!" I looked at Matt, eyes wide. I couldn't see his face, but I didn't think I wanted to. I felt Brian glance at me.

"What are you talking about, Matt?" He kept his voice low. He didn't want a fight, either.

"I saw you kiss her. I know what's going on." Brian stared at Matt, not sure what to say. He continued. "I need to hear from you exactly what you two have been doing and for how long... and why." It was over. Matt knew. Brian had no choice-

Next thing I saw was Brian lunge at Matt and tackled him to the ground, throwing a few punches.

"Courtney, run," Brian yelled at me, hitting Matt's jaw. I heard a crack.

"No! Courtney, don't," Matt protested, rolling Brian over so he could dodge his blows. I didn't know what to do, run or stay. Brian rolled Matt over onto his back again and caught my scared and torn gaze.

"I swear to God, fucking GO!" His growled-turned-to-yelled sentence sent me sprinting out the door. By the time I got to the driveway Brian was running after me. He grabbed my hand and quickly opened the passenger side door to the SUV. I climbed in as he rushed to the other side and got in the driver's seat. Matt was running out the door toward us. Brian locked the doors as he tried getting the key into the ignition. Matt tried pulling my door open.

"Courtney, get out of the car," he yelled. I heard the engine start and Brian backed out and drove away as fast as possible without hitting Matt or anything else. He sped down the street and I relaxed to the best of my ability against the seat.

***

I stared out the window and watched what passed by. We were driving in the middle of nowhere. Neither Brian nor I had spoken since we left our house. He turned his phone off only ten minutes after leaving town because Matt hadn't stopped calling.

He looked over at me every now and then with a regretful yet cautious expression, as if he was thinking of what to say but couldn't come up with anything. An estimated two hours of high speed driving went by before he decided to speak.

"Courtney, baby, are you okay," he murmured softly. I didn't do anything. Just kept staring. He tried again. "I know you didn't tell him anything. He won't find us-" He reached out toward me but I flinched away and looked at him. He let his hand drop.

"Where are we going," I said acidly. He focused his attention back on the road.

"The house Mom and Dad used to go to for a weekend every month." I remembered that. They would leave me home alone with Brian for three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The first time they were going to take me with them was when they died on the way there...

"I thought that was sold," I muttered.

"I've been looking after it," he said. "I couldn't just give it up." Nothing else was said until he pulled into the driveway of the large vacation house. He sighed. "Welcome to our new home." I looked at him, letting what he just said sink in. New home? By the look in his eyes, one thing became absolutely certain.

He's been planning for this.

I can't believe this is over :(
While reading this, I fell in love with the characters :D
I loved Brian and Courtney from the very beginning, and the way their relationship came out to the world and the fact that everyone accepted them (even Matt :D) was just perfect. The times when Courtney was gone and Brian used to feel terrible truly touched my heart.

But at last, they came together and they had this very happy ending. This was all I wanted to happen :)
And now I'm waiting for the sequel because it is hard for me as well to go on without reading this story :p
