Scream

Nightmare

It was a rough night. I didn't feel safe not having my razors in my room. Plus it took me an hour to fall asleep with my thinking of going to a pyshch ward. By the time I did get to sleep, my clock said 3:48am. When I woke up, it said 11:36am. I got up and walked downstairs where I saw Matt and Brian sitting at the table with my guitar. All six of my blades were sitting in the middle of the table.

"Hey, how'd you sleep," Brian asked, stopping whatever new riff he was playing.

"Fine, you," I asked, going into the kitchen for a drink.

"We didn't," Matt said. I looked at them.

"Why not?"

"Just didn't." I opened the fridge door and noticed five Monsters were gone.

"You purposely stayed up." They didn't say anything so I just poured some orange juice and joined them at the table. Papers with scirbbled words were everywhere. "You stayed up to write?"

"No, we stayed up to stay up. We needed something to do," Brian said.

"Dude, I feel like we've been distancing ourselves from the guys," Matt said, sounding a little guilty.

"Do they have any idea what's going on," I asked. Matt looked at me and nodded somberly but didn't say a word. Then I muttered, "great."

"Maybe they can come over and we can work on stuff. I mean we want the new album to come out some time next summer, right? Let's start really working," Brian said.

"Synyster Gates is coming up with some new riffs," Matt said, smiling.

"Yeah, which means M. Shadows should be writing some lyrics," Brian replied with the same devious grin. Today will be fun.

Matt called up the other guys and they were all here within an hour of me being awake. Jimmy tackled me as he always did the second he walked in the door. Johnny and Zack just gave my hugs and tried to act like everything was okay. Of course, we all knew that was a lie.

"So this one will be a mix of our last one and City Of Evil, correct," Matt said. Everyone either said yeah or nodded. "Now what are we supposed to write about?" No one responded for several seconds.

"It needs to be darkas hell," Zacky said. More yeahs. Matt stared at me for about ten seconds until he jumped and his eyes got huge.

"Oh my god, I got it," he said, scribbling down whatever he was thinking. Once he was done, he sat back with a huge smile. "This is fucking perfect."

"What'd you get," Brian asked, glancing at me.

"You should've known the price of evil, and it hurts to know that you belong here, yeah. No one to call, everybody to fear. This tragic fate is looking so clear, yeah, it's your fucking nightmare," Matt read. Everyone smiled the same way.

Then the planning truly began.

"Dragged you down below..." Matt trailed off.

"Down to the devil's show," Johnny interjected.

"To be his guest forever," Matt continued.

"Peace of mind is less than never," Brian questioned. Matt write it down.

"We got this guys, we got this," Zacky said. He was so happy to be writing again iin a group like this.

"Hate to twist your mind, but god ain't on your side," Brian said.

"Too late to find a place to hide," Matt said. He hesitated.

"We're sticking with couplets, aren't we," Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, that's why I'm not writing it down."

"An old acquintance severed," Brian spoke.

"Burn the world your last endeavor," Johnny said all excitedly.

"What the hell does that mean," Zack said laughing.

"It's all I could think of that rhymes with 'severed'!"

"It's good, though," Matt said, writing. "What's next?"

"Flesh is burning, you can smell it in the air," Jimmy said.

"Ew," Brian said, causing Matt to stifle a laugh.

" 'Cause men like you have such an easy soul to steal," Matt finished. "So stand iin line while they burn numbers in your head..."

"You're now a slave until the end of time here," Brian said. No one responded. They were stuck.

"Should we just go to the chorus after that," Johnny asked.

"That doesn't sound right if we do that, like we need something extra," Matt replied. They looked at each other with confused looks on their faces.

"Nothing stops the madness turning, haunting, yearning, pull the trigger," I said. All five men looked at me.

"That's perfect," Matt toldme, writing it down.

"Way to go, Courtneyt," Jimmy said, high fiving me. Brian smiled at me before looking back at the paper.

By eight o' clock, they had a song; the lyrics with some riff ideas, drum patterns, bass lines, and vocals. They were really happy with themselves. I decided to leave them alone and hang in my room reading or something for the rest of the night. That was until I heard Zacky mention my name only minutes after I retreated to my domain.

"What made you come up with those lyrics after staring at Courtney," he asked. Someone cleared their throat.

"We decided," Matt started, "that it's best if Courtney stayed at the Huntington Institutional Facility." What was he talking about? As in, who the hell is "we"?

"Wait, who decided," Zacky asked. Thanks.

"Me," Brian answered.

"At first, I wasn't sure ifI liked that, but after thinnking about it for a while, it's the only way we can be sure she's safe," Matt said. A couple seconds of silence.

"How does she feel about it," Johnny asked quietly.

"All she said was that she's not crazy and she's perfectly safe here."

"We know she's not crazy," Jimmy said. More silence. Someone must've given him a look, because then he said, "well she's not. Yes, there's something wrong, but she's certainly not crazy." No one else said anything until Jimmy walked up the stairs and said, "I'm gonna talk to her." I scrambled to my bed and just sat there. Jimmy knocked on the doorframe seconds later.

"Can we talk," he asked. I nodded. He walked in and shut the door. He sat in front of me and my words rushed out.

"I'm not crazy, Jimmy, I'm really not," I said.

"I know, kiddo," he said softly.

"I don't want to go to that place."

"I don't want you to go either, Courtney, but..." My heart sank.

"You agree with them, don't you?"

"I want you safe. Just like the rest of the guys." I looked down.

"How long will I have to stay there," I whispered.

"As long as it takes to get better," he stated.

"How long will it take, though?" I hesitantly met his gaze. He sighed.

"I don't know."

I can't believe this is over :(
While reading this, I fell in love with the characters :D
I loved Brian and Courtney from the very beginning, and the way their relationship came out to the world and the fact that everyone accepted them (even Matt :D) was just perfect. The times when Courtney was gone and Brian used to feel terrible truly touched my heart.

But at last, they came together and they had this very happy ending. This was all I wanted to happen :)
And now I'm waiting for the sequel because it is hard for me as well to go on without reading this story :p
