Wake Up
“Baby, please wake up,” I heard the familiar soothing, yet, worried voice of Matt saying to me as he lightly slapped my cheek. My eyes fluttered open and I was instantly looking into his amazing hazel eyes. I tried to speak but nothing came out.
“Don’t speak baby doll, he had rope tied around your neck for a while, it was pretty tight and you’re a bit bruised,” Jimmy spoke from beside Matt and I smiled weakly at the two.
“Jim, we need to move her, she needs to get to the hospital, now, Johnny, call her dad and tell him to meet us there,” Matt said as he untied my wrists carefully. I had a dull ache all over my body, but my head was pounding and all I wanted to do was throw up and then sleep, and throw up I did. As soon as Matt had untied my wrists I hung over the arm of the chair and emptied my stomach all over the floor, Matt held my hair and rubbed my back, telling me to let it all out and I would feel somewhat better, he was right.
“Mattie, I’m sleepy,” I sighed as he lifted me bridal style and started to walk out of the building.
“I know baby, but you have to stay awake for a little while longer, just until we get you to the hospital,” He said, sliding me into the back of his car, I heard one of the other guys getting into my car, maybe they were taking it home for me. That was nice. I imagined Zacky driving my car and how funny he probably looked in it. That made me giggle a little, man I was as high as a kite right now.
“Dad…” I whispered as my eyes fluttered shut.
“Your dad’s gonna meet us at the hospital baby, just stay awake,” I head Jimmy telling him that I was asleep and I felt the car speed up quickly so I let sleep consume me, if just for a little while.
“Riley…” I heard my dad’s voice saying from beside me, I could hear beeping and something else that sounded as if it was breathing, I was still aching, but my head wasn’t so bad, I opened my eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the brightness of the room, dad was sitting at my side, my small hand in his larger one, Matt was on my other side with his forehead pressed to the mattress beside my thigh, which was really painful, I thought for a minute before remembering I was stabbed. I looked around the rest of the room and saw all the other guys sitting on chairs and the floor, half asleep, Amy dozing off in jimmy’s lap like a baby as he played with her hair and she sucked on her thumb like a baby even though she was fourteen. Sally was on Johnny’s lap, I could see her body shaking as though she were crying silently into Johnny’s chest.
“Dad…” I croaked quietly, I’d tried to speak normally but barely anything came out.
“Riley!” He exclaimed, his head snapping up to look at me “Thank god you’re awake, we’re going to get the bastard who did this to you.”
“Why…” I tried to speak but Matt cut me off.
“Why didn’t he kill you like he did the others?” I nodded my head “We don’t know, we were thinking the same thing, but we’re almost 100% sure it’s the same guy who committed those murders,” I closed my eyes for a second before opening them again to see everyone looking at me with relieved looks on their faces, they remained unchanged when a nurse came in to give me some painkillers which put me right back to sleep.
