Strange Places
Rebecca's POV
I woke up slowly in a strange bed. I opened my eyes slowly and looked around the room. The room had white walls, a big window in the middle of one of the walls with white curtins. I rolled onto my back slowly and looked down at myself. A thin gray blanket was covering my body, there were two lamp posts on each side of the bed and a painting on the wall above my head. I was laying on a white bed, white pillows with one red one and I felt very out of place. This isn't the hospital. Or Matt's house. I lifted the blanket to make sure that I was covered up. I still had the hospital gown on.
I pushed the blanket back and slowly got out of bed. I had a major headache and reached up to touch my head. I felt the baldness of my head and remembered that I had to get my head shaved for my surgery. I felt the stitches in my head and walked over to the door. The floor was cold on my feet, the air was cold in the room and my teeth started to chatter. Oh this is just a great place to be. NOT. I wrapped my arms around myself and opened the door. I stuck my head out and looked both ways down the hallway. When the coast was clear, I took a right and headed down that part of the hallway. I heard some noise coming from the way that I was going.
At the end of the hall, there was a doorway. When I reached the doorway, I stuck my head a little way inside the doorway and saw that it was a kitchen. It was gray, with a chrome countertop that was rounded. It was hard to describe everything, but it was pretty cool looking. I saw someone standing over the counter, but I couldn't see their face. Their back was too me. I could tell just by the build that the person was a man. I took a couple steps closer and hoped that the floorboards didn't creak. I was happy that they didn't and I stepped closer to try and get a look at who this person was. I was about to take another step closer-
"If you're gonna sneak up on someone, make sure they can't hear you breathing when you do." The person said. I've heard that voice before. The mand turned around and I was standing face-to-face with the one person I thought that I would never see again.
"Dr. James?" I asked confusedly.
"Good morning Rebecca. How are you feeling?" He asked with a smile. "And please call me Carlos."
"Why?"
"Why what?" He turned back around to the thing in front of him.
"Why am I here?" I looked around the room.
"Come closer babe. I don't bite." There was a pause. "Most of the time."
"Don't call me babe." I said, growing pissed.
"Awe. Why not? I like calling you babe. It feels good." I could hear to smile in his voice. I walked around the corner to look at him.
"Because I said not too. Only a few people close to me and who I care about can call me that. And you are [i][b]soooo[/b][/i] not one of those people." I said and headed out of the room.
"You'll want me. Eventually. You will." Carlos called after me.
