1 - A Little Piece of Heaven
Alexandria's POV
Fuck, fuck, fuck. Darn it. Damn. I'm late for the first day of work. Shit. I turned over to my alarm clock, it's 8:30 and i am supposed to be at work at 9.
Agh.
So i hurried into the bathroom, comb my naturally brown wavy hair, put on some make-up and make myself look presentable. Lucky me, the new place that i am working at is about 10 minutes away but i don't want to make a shitty first impression.
Once i got to my car, i hurried to go to work. Within a record time, i finally arrived at work. This is my new job where i am working as a music lab technician. I used to work as a touring technician for lots of bands before so getting this job has been nothing but an easy job for me.
Once i got to the floor of where my new office will be, i was greeted by a middle-aged man. That's my boss, Peter.
"Welcome to work, Alexandria." He said while extending his hand. I shook it firmly.
"It's great to work." That is so cheesy.
"How should i address you?" I asked.
"Peter will do." He said as he was leading me into the office. I followed him until he reached to a room.
"That's your own room since you are the 'Advance' tech."
Damn, I get my own room. Fantastic. I already love this job so much because of it's pay and now i got a room to top it off.
I looked out from my room and i saw that inside the office, there are approximately 10 other staffs which are all probably technicians. This is a recording studio, after all.
I was paying close attention to those people in the office that when Peter spoke, it startled me.
"Fuck." Damn, I cursed. There goes the good impression.
"Haha." He just laughed.
I can feel that my cheeks are slowly burning up.
"It's alright." He replied. "I just wanted to inform you that we got a band here that is going to work on their new album."
"Which band?"
"Avenged Sevenfold. Heard of them?"
"Of course." I said confidently, "I actually toured with them once and i was the guitar tech for them, but that was like in 2006."
"Great then. I can trust you right?"
"Yep."
"I will tell you when they are here. Enjoy your day!" My boss said to me as he leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
After he left, i organized my things, putting them on the desk and arranging the furniture until the phone on my desk rang.
I picked up.
"Hey, Ms Brennan. I am your secretary, Amanda. The band is here so would you mind to head to Studio 1 as soon as possible?" HOLY SHIT, i have my own secretary? This is awesome.
"No problem and don't call me Ms Brennan. Alexandria will do." I said and end the phone call. I hated when people call me Ms Brennan and Alex too.
After that phone call, I quickly head to Studio 1. I heard that's the biggest studio with the best equipment.
Once i walked in, all five guys of the band sat on the couch. I guess they were waiting for me.
"Hi. My name is Alexandria Brennan and I am your technician. Nice to meet you all." I introduced myself as i am walking towards the guys at the couch.
"Hey there. Matt here." and slowly each of them introduced themselves and one of them specifically, Jimmy, pulled me into a hug.
"You're gorgeous!" He said.
"Thanks!" i blushed and took my seat.
"Let's get working."
Three and a half hours later, Peter walked into a studio full of random rhythm and guitar sound. He looked at me and ask,
"How are you doing?"
"Great! These guys are fun to work with." I said as I was tuning Zacky's guitar.
"Alright. Just saying, you can go for lunch. It's 12:30, just don't come back too late." and he walked out.
Upon hearing the word lunch, the goofy guy, Jimmy jumped up from his set of drums and started running around. All of us burst out into laughter and we all agreed to have lunch.
Just when i was heading back to the office, Zacky walked towards me. Man, he got those stunning green eyes. Sexy.
"Alex?" I turned around.
"Hey Zack. Sup? I thought you're going to lunch."
"Yeah I am. Where are you going?" He said, scratching his head. Is he asking me out?
"I am actually just going to the KFC across the street. Why?"
"Well, i was wondering if you want to eat with me since the guys wanted to eat at some fancy italian restaurants and i don't."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
"Alright!" i agreed and went to my office to pick up my purse and off we went.
We decided unanimously to visit the KFC. We bought our food and sat down and began devouring our meal.
"You know what, you fascinate me. You are actually one of the few girls i knew that loves fried chicken. I mean, they are fatty food and you don't seemed like you care if you gain weight."
I laughed. "Am i supposed to get offended by this? You basically called me fat."
He dropped his chicken and put his hands up like he was going to surrender. "No, i didn't mean that. I mean that's very cool."
"Cool? Really?"
"Yep!" He replied and we both returned back to our meal.
Once we're done, we throw away our garbage and decided to return to our table since lunch time isn't over.
"Alex. Can i call you that?"
"You already called me that a million times."
"I mean your name is Alexandria, Alex for short."
"I hate being called Alex." I replied, trying not to think about the painful past. It's over, i told myself.
"Why?" I knew he will wanted to know why.
I sighed. "Long story."
"We got plenty of time."
"My abusive mother used to called me Alex."
"Oh," his face fell into a sad look.
"It reminds me of those painful things that happened when i was living with her. You know, my parents were divorced since i was four and my brother was six. The custody were given to her and at the beginning, everything was happy and great, until she got into drugs." I paused."On drugs, she would always abuse my brother Jeremy and I. Hit us, yell at us." I let out a sad smile. "Finally, when i was sixteen and my brother was eighteen, he obtained legal guardianship over me and we began living with my dad."
"I'm sorry to hear this."
"No, it's fine. I am happy now." saying this changed the atmosphere.
"What about you?" I asked.
"Me? Nothing interesting. Grew up here. Last name's Baker not Vengeance."
"That's it?"
"I have an ex-wife." I paused. Why would a woman divorce someone like him? He seemed like a nice dude.
"What happened?"
"We didn't get along so we separated, but we are still friends. I am single now."
Single. That sounded tempting.
"Me too. I just got out of an engagement. Don't even start talking about it cause my ex cheated on me while i was touring with one of the band."
"Hey, i heard from Pete that you toured with us before."
"Yeah, back when you guys were doing the tour for City of Evil. I was the guitar tech but i guess you don't remember me."
"No wonder you look fairly familiar."
Our chat was nice and friendly. I don't know much about Zacky but he seemed like a charismatic man. Not to mentioned he is hot too. I can feel, already feel, some feelings for him. Oh god, stop it Alexandria! He is not going to be interested in you.
Zacky's POV
When that beauty walked past the door, i was stunned. She looked like an angel. Then i realized, i've seen her before. One of the guitar tech for City of Evil tour. Her name....i just don't remember.
She is about 5 foot 2, petite brunette. The first thing i noticed was not her assets though, but her eyes. They are honey brown. It's like looking at her eyes made me feel warm.
When she introduced herself, i was glad she is the technician. I can sooooo imagine her being Mrs Baker. Her name is Alexandria. Beautiful name.
While we are working on our new album, i had some trouble with my guitar's sound so i asked her for help. As she was trying to fix the problem, i eyed her beautiful features. I wanted to ask her out.
That perfect opportunity came. The fuckers ditched me since they think going to an Italian restaurant will be nice for lunch. I just want something simple but i don't want to go along so i asked her. She agreed. Yes.
Throughout lunch, i got to learn more about her. She is currently 25 years old who just got out of an engagement and is single -> i got a chance baby! But one thought kept spinning in my mind. I wanted to ask her out, but it's our first day meeting each other and i am already advancing? What the fuck, Vengeance?
When it turned 2 on my watch, i informed her that we must return to the studio. Our walk back to the studio was full of talk, which was great! I already felt sooo connected with her.
Before we walked through the main door to the studio, i stopped her. She turned to look at me and i knew i got to do what i want.
"Would you go out with me?"
She frozed, eye widen.
"What?"
"I said, would you go on a date with me, tonight?"
She blinked a couple of times. "Why me?"
"Cause i like you."
She didn't reply for about three seconds.
Is she happy or is she angry or is she getting creeped out.
She smiled. "yes. Cause i like you too."
