Jimmy’s P.O.V
I woke early the next morning, we had the doctors at 9am so I woke at 7am, I’d give Charlie another half an hour before waking her to go back to her place so she could get ready and we could pick Rosie up.
“Morning Ma,” I yawned as I walked into the kitchen to find my mom cooking breakfast
“Morning James, sleep well?” She asked as she shuffled around in her slippers and fluffy robe
“Yeah, Charlie’s still asleep, I’ll wake her soon, I’m taking her to the doctor with Rosie,” She stopped in her tracks, turning to face me with confusion on her face
“Why are you going too James, is everything alright?” She asked, sounding worried about Charlie
“Mom… uh, she’s… I… I got Charlie pregnant ma,” I looked over to her, she looked sad but slightly happy at the same time but when a tear slid down her face I grew confused
“Oh my baby’s gonna be a daddy,” She cried with a smile “Come here baby,” She held out her arms and I walked into them, she was much shorter than me so I held her to me as she rubbed my lower back
“I’m sorry momma,” I whispered into her hair
“Don’t be sorry baby, I knew something happened between you two, the living room smelled like sex when we came back from my parent’s house,” She chuckled with a sniff as she pulled away from me and wiped a tear from her face “Now go wake her up so I can give her a big hug,” She said, pushing me out of the kitchen and I walked towards my bedroom.
Charlie’s P.O.V
I woke up to an empty bed and an empty room, I liked it at Jimmy’s place, his family was the complete family I never got to have, he had both parents and two sisters. My family fell apart when I was 15, my dad moved too far away and my mom turned to the booze, things got too hard and I became depressed until Emmet took me in almost two years ago. I sat up in Jimmy’s bed and stretched with a big yawn when the door opened.
“Morning pretty lady, I was just coming to wake you,” Jimmy smiled, sitting at the foot of the bed “Get up, mom wants to give you a hug, she’s gonna tell the girls and my dad about the baby,”
I was slightly shocked that Jimmy’s mom wasn’t mad so I climbed out of bed and slipping my pants from yesterday back on under Jimmy’s t-shirt that I wore to bed and left my t-shirt on the back of his desk chair and made my way to the kitchen where the smell of bacon was coming from.
“Morning Mrs S,” I chirped as I walked into the kitchen, before I could compliment how good the bacon smelled she had her arms wrapped around my torso and was hugging me tightly, I could tell where Jimmy got his vice like grip, when she let me go she sat me down at the table next to Jimmy and shoved a plate loaded with eggs and bacon under my nose
“Mrs S you didn’t need to make me so much food, I don’t know if I’ll eat all of this,” I said with a chuckle, picking up a piece of bacon and shoving it into my mouth along with Jimmy.
“Of course you will, you’re carrying my grandbaby, you’ll eat more than your own body weight,”
15 minutes later and I was finished eating we decided it was time to head back over to my place so I could shower. Jimmy’s mom told me to visit again soon, which wouldn’t be a problem seeing as I was always there anyway and I was bound to be spending even more time there.
We got to my place and walked through the front door to find Emmet feeding Ava but she had more of it on her face than she had actually eaten, he told us that Rosie was in the shower. Jimmy and I walked upstairs and into my bedroom, I liked my room, Emmet had let me decorate it whichever way I wanted and I had. I’d painted it a deep teal colour on all four walls, my double bed was against one of the walls with a large dream catcher pinned behind it, for some reason all of the bedrooms in this house had bay windows, I’d covered the sill of the window in cushions with a blanked and put up a curtain rail above it so that when I sat in the window to read I could close myself in and read with the light coming in from the street light outside. I had a corner desk in the furthest corner of the room cluttered with school work, sketch books, notepads and my computer and the door beside it lead into my bathroom which had blue tiled walls to add some colour.
Jimmy sat on my bed while I showered quickly to wash off all sweat from yesterday. After I washed I climbed back out and dressed in a dark blue dress which was loose around my stomach, I knew I was gaining weight already from eating so much since I was always hungry but it wasn’t a baby bump yet so I didn’t mind. I took a blue ribbon the same colour as my dress and tied it around the top of my head before slipping dark blue Vans on my feet and heading back out to see Jimmy laying back on my bed staring at the ceiling, drumming out a random beat on his knees.
“You ready to go Jim?” I asked, snapping him out of his little daydream
“Yeah,”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” I teased, letting him know that I noticed him dreaming
“Sorry, I was just wondering if the baby’s stuff is going to fit in here,”
“Well, I guess the crib will, I have room for a changing table in the bathroom, so I think I have enough space until they get a little bigger,” I shrugged
“I guess you’re right, I have space in my room for a crib too for when the baby sleeps at my place,” I nodded and lead us out of the room and downstairs where Rosie was waiting by the door
“Alright kids, let’s go!” She chirped and headed outside, we took my car because I’d have to drive Jimmy and I to school afterwards.
At the doctor’s office
“Alright Miss Day, this is going to be uncomfortable but because you’re so early on we won’t be able to see anything from the outside so we have to use this,” Dr Simms said as she held up a probe covered in jelly “To go in and see your baby,” I swallowed hard and got comfortable on the table, I’d already removed my pants and been covered once I lifted my dress, Rosie and Jimmy were on my left, both of them holding my hand while I gripped the side of the table with my right hand, my nails digging into the sponge.
“Oh geez, that’s cold,” I groaned as the probe was inserted into me, it had been a long time since my first time so it did hurt quite a bit but Jimmy squeezed my wrist while rubbing circles onto it with his thumb, making me relax.
“There’s your baby,” She said with a smile, turning the screen around where I could see a little tiny blob
“What’s that blip?” I asked
“That, is your baby’s heartbeat, would you like to hear?” I nodded, she took out the fetal Doppler and pressed it around my stomach until she found the heartbeat and we could hear it loud and clear
“It’s strong,” Dr Simms said and I nodded, I couldn’t take my eyes off of the screen, I gripped Jimmy’s hand tighter
“That’s our baby,” He whispered
“Yeah,” I said in a quick breath as tears of happiness ran down my cheeks “That’s my second heartbeat,” Rosie looked at me with a look of disbelief on her face
“What? I’m not made of stone Rosie,” I chuckled
“How many copies of the photo would you like?” Dr Simms asked
“12” I said quickly, I’d already counted how many we would need “And can I have this on a DVD too?” She nodded and left the room
“12?” Jimmy asked
“Yeah, you, me, your parents, Rosie, Emmet, Matt, Brian, Zacky, Johnny, Val, my mom and my dad,” I said counting them out on my fingers “12”
