Charlie’s P.O.V
I got home an hour ago and Rosie instantly knew I’d been crying and the fact that I was home two hours early was never a good sign, she asked what was wrong and I had broken down telling her everything but she understood, she didn’t judge because she was a teen mom too, she was 20 now but she’d given birth to Ava at 18, right out of high school. She told me that everything was going to be okay and that she would be here to help me, I was currently trying to stop crying as she held me in the middle of the kitchen.
“Cha!” Ava called out the name she used for me because she hadn’t learned how to say Charlie yet, holding out her arms for me to lift her, I bent down and picked the adorable, rosy cheeked, red haired little girl
“Yes angel?” I asked her as he used a chubby little hand to wipe a tear from my cheek
“Cha no cry,” She demanded “Cha gonna have a baby like me?” She asked, we hadn’t realised she had been awake and listening to everything Rosie and I had been saying.
“Yeah baby that’s right, auntie Charlie is going to have a baby, like you used to be,” Rosie said, as she played with her daughters hair as she sat on my hip “I’ll go call the doctors just now,” She smiled at me and I nodded okay, before playing with Ava
The front door opened and Emmet walked in, Ave wriggled out of my grip and ran do him
“Daddy Emmet, Cha gonna have a baby like me!” She squealed excitedly, my heart stopped, my stomach sank and my jaw dropped. Emmet’s face was emotionless, I hated when he looked like that, it meant he was either going to cry or explode.
“Ava baby, go play in the other room,” Emmet said calmly, putting Ava back on her feet as she ran awkwardly into the living room
“What was Ava talking about Charlie?” He asked me firmly
“I’m uh…” I looked at my feet, and Rosie walked into the room
“Hey baby how was-“ She stopped mid-sentence and came to stand beside me with her arm wrapped around my shoulder “She told you huh?”
“No, Ava did,” Emmet said flatly
“Fuck,” Rosie hissed “We didn’t think about her telling,” She looked at me apologetically but I told her it was alright, that I was going to have to tell him eventually.
“What the fuck were you thinking?!” He yelled at me with a booming voice that made me jump back “You’re so fucking stupid! Did you even think about what you were doing?! Who’s the father?!”
“It’s uh… Jimmy,” I choked out as a single tear ran down my face
“JIMMY?!” He screamed “Your best friend Jimmy?” He asked, his voice suddenly calm again
“Uh, yeah…” I looked down at my feet again
“Fucking hell Charlie, you’ve ruined your life, you’re never going to get anywhere!” He yelled again
“Never going to get anywhere? Excuse me but I was once in her position too, only Ava’s dad didn’t want anything to do with either of us, Jimmy’s a good kid and I know for a fact that he’s going to do right by Charlie!” Rosie screamed at him, I knew where this was going, they were going to have their first big fight in almost a year.
“Babe, I didn’t mean it like that, you know I think you’re amazing for everything that you’ve done and I love Ava as if she were my own daughter,” Emmet was calm again, but almost pleading Rosie at the same time as he tried to convince her.
“And you’re not going to be proud of your sister if she does the same? You’re not going to love your actual niece of nephew?!”
“Well… I…”
“Exactly,”
I walked out of the room and scooped Ava up into my arms and carried her to the front door put on her coat and clipped her into her pushchair and walked out the front door knowing that a child shouldn’t be around that. I took her to the store and bought her any toy she picked out which happened to be a baby doll, I smiled at her as she cradled her new baby in her pushchair with her. Next we went for ice cream and then Ava decided she wanted to sleep so I walked around Huntington until she fell asleep. I walked into central park and sat down on one of the many benches and made Ava face me as I pushed her back and forth with my foot, she was adorable all the time but she was especially cute when she slept.
“I’m not going to forget about it you know,” The voice of my best friend said from along the path as he walked towards the bench
“What do you want Jimmy?” I asked with a sigh as I covered Ava with the blanket I brought for her
“I want to talk to you about… this,” He said pointing to my stomach which I immediately covered with my hand, I hadn’t done that yet, I knew they were in there but I’d never protected it. I smiled down at my flat stomach, my eyes filling with tears, I knew then what I wanted.
“I want to keep the baby Jimmy,” I told him with a smile still on my face as I looked at him and saw that he was staring at my hand on my stomach, he looked like he was about to cry.
“Me too…” He whispered as he placed his hand over mine and looked into my eyes “I’m so sorry,” He breathed as a tear slid town his face
“What are you sorry for?” I asked with a laugh
“A few things, this is my fault, I didn’t think about using a condom, for what I said earlier and for already starting out as a shitty dad,” I looked into his eyes and saw the sorrow and regret
“Jimmy, you’re not a shitty dad and you’re never going to be, you’re going to be great at this, we’ll come on tour with you and the guys make it big, this baby is going to love you no matter what and I’m going to do whatever I can to keep things simple while the band takes off,” I said with a reassuring smile and he smiled back “I have the doctor tomorrow before school, wanna come?”
“I’d love to,” He smiled and pulled me into his side and kissed my forehead, something about this felt right, like it was meant to happen
