When we got to the police station, me and Chase were settled into a room where we would stay until we had our foster home figured out. Jaeger was getting antsy, he doesn't like being confined in spaces, no matter the size.
I knelt down to pet him and try to calm him down, this worked and he fell asleep soon after.
"Chase?" I said.
"Yeah May?" He returned.
"Do you have any idea of who dad could be?"
"No Idea at all. He might have green eyes though. Since mom had blue. You're the only person in the family that I know that has green eyes, bud."
"Yeah, I like my eyes. They're different. Not many people have green eyes. "
"Not many at all."
"Where do you think he lives?"
"Mom talked to me a bit about him. She said somewhere in California. She didn't tell me what he looked like though."
"When did she tell you?"
"A couple nights ago. I was going to tell you tonight before we went to sleep. Obviously things have changed."
"Yeah..." I reached up and started to play with my necklace. It was the last thing I had left from my mom.
There was a knock on the door. Jaeger woke up immediately and growled quietly.
"Jaeger, heel. Come in!" I called.
Officer Dickens walked in and then closed the door.
"We found a temporary home for you guys. It's down in California though. You guys will end up being closer to where your father will be. We will have you guys flown out there immediately and have a group of investigators start their search for your father."
"Wait. We have to be flown out there?" I asked skeptically.
"Yeah, Jaeger will have to ride in the cargo. Sedated of course." He informed.
"No, he's not riding in cargo." I argued.
"Where would he ride then?" Dickens asked.
"The only other place he can ride is first class." Chase input.
"Then I guess we are riding first class seats then." I said stubbornly.
"Dustin, you're so stubborn. You know that?" Chase asked.
"I know. But I want Jaeger to be safe. And I don't trust the cargo hold." I said.
"Alright, I'll go get your tickets booked." Dickens said then left.
I sat down on the table and opened a can of monster and chugged half of it, earning a chuckle from Chase.
"What's so funny Mr. Giggles?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Just the fact you drink those like you are a sponge." He informed.
"What can I say? I don't want to sleep tonight. Not really feeling up to it."
"I know what you mean." He then grabbed the other can and downed most of it in one chug.
"Oh and I'm a sponge!" I exclaimed, throwing a pen at him.
"Hey! Watch it!"
The door opened revealing Officer Dickens.
"Grab your stuff and Jaeger. Your getting on a plane in 40 minutes." He told us and opened the door for us to go out.
We got into his patrol car and he sped off to the airport.
We got there, went through security, and waited for our plane to get called. That took about 10 minutes. Dickens argued with the flight attendant about Jaeger going on the plane. He made up some excuse that he can't be sedated or else he would have almost died. They have in and we went to our first class seats. The flight wasn't going to be long but, I decided I would try to get some sleep. Avenged Sevenfolds 'A Little Piece of Heaven' played in my ears as I drifted off to sleep.
