Zacky’s pov

Sitting in this hospital room, just sitting is enough to bring any sane person to their knees. It’s really quiet and the only think you hear is Brice’s heart beats through the monitor and the breathing venerator.
“Brice baby I need you to wake up. You’re going to be a grandma soon.” I said
Months had passed since Ava showed up at our door and told Jimmy she was pregnant, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked because I was. I don’t know how Jimmy took it as well as he did, on a normal day he would have ran to Brice but he knew exactly what to say. He’s so grown up, but I think we’ve all had to grow up a little more. Jimmy, Ava, Blaze, and Zayleigh are all back in school, Ava being eight and a half months pregnant makes it hard for her to walk around without people staring. Jimmy has already been suspended twice for fighting but I’m not mad, he fought to defend his girlfriend from bullies, I couldn’t be mad at him for that. Mine and Brice’s baby is doing well, he’s still in the NICU because one of his lungs keeps collapsing and he can’t breathe on his own. Brice loves the name Greyson Hunter so that’s his name; Greyson Hunter Baker, yeah it doesn’t slide well together but I liked it.
“I don’t know if I’m going to make it through life without you baby, you are my life, my soul and my heart. We miss you, Blaze, Zayleigh, Jimmy, Brian, Matt, Cassandra, Johnny, and Mandy. You name it we’re all lost without you.” I said
“Zack?” I heard
I looked up at the door and Cassandra was waving me to her.
“Yeah?” I asked
“Greyson is awake; do you want to see him?” She asked
“Please?” I asked
She took my hand and led me into the NICU and to my son. He was so little at eight months old. I couldn’t believe Brice has been in a coma for eight months with no change. I looked down at our son and he looked up at me, his eyes were big and brown just like his mom.
“Hi little guy, I’m your daddy. I can’t wait to hold you for the first time.” I said
He just stared at me.
“He’s so cute.” Cassandra said
“He looks like Brice.” I said
She nodded and we walked back to Brice’s room and Jimmy was sitting there holding her hand.
“Hi mom, I just came to tell you that Ava and I are naming our daughter after you somewhat. Her name is going to be Bryson Olivia, I know Bryson is more of a boy name but Ava really liked it for a girl and when you wake up we don’t want you to be answering when we’re talking to our daughter.” Jimmy said
“I like the name.” I said
He smiled.
“She will too.” I added.
“Jim don’t you think you should get downstairs?” Cassandra asked
“Yeah, I wanted to talk to mom first.” He said
“Why? What’s going on?” I asked
“Ava is in labor.” He said
“Shit boy get down there!” I said
He laughed and sprinted out of the room.
“I’m a grandparent at forty.” I said
“Be happy it’s the older one and not one of the girls.” She said
“Fuck off.” I smiled
The twins came in and we all sat with Brice.
As we were about to leave and go see Jimmy and Ava’s daughter the unthinkable happened and Brice’s heart monitor flat lined.
“Cassandra!” I yelled
She came rushing in and she rushed the girls and I out.
“Did mommy just die?” Blaze asked
I just looked at her.
