It’s been eleven years since we cleaned out Jimmy’s house. We use it for just random parties and hangouts with people we trust. I’m now thirty-four, Zacky is thirty-nine, Brian is also thirty-nine along with Matt, Val is thirty-eight, Cassandra is thirty-eight, Johnny is thirty-nine and Melody is thirty-seven. Melody and her husband have had a kid of their own and named him Max, she had found out she was pregnant a few days after we cleaned the house so he is eleven, their daughter Ava is Jimmy’s age. Brian and Cassandra had two more kids so Alice is eleven, and they have a son named Alexander and he’s nine and they have another daughter named Brianna and she’s seven. Johnny and his girlfriend Mandy who is two years older than I am finally got married and don’t have any kids. Matt and Val are not married but they have a daughter names Kayla, he never told Val about killing Beau and it never caught up with them. We don’t hear from McKenna ever but I know she has a different boyfriend named Tom. As for Zacky and I we’re still good and Jimmy is sixteen and the twins are eleven.
I was currently standing in Cassandra’s master bathroom waiting on a timer to go off to tell me if I was pregnant or not.
“Cassandra!” I yelled walking out of the bathroom.
“Yes my dear?” She asked
“What is Zack going to say?” I asked
“He’s going to be happy.” She said looking at me like I was fucking nuts.
“But he’s almost forty.” I said
“Oh my god are you serious? You two have been together forever and your still worried about this?” She asked
“It’s my nature.” I said
“So are you?” She asked
I walked back upstairs and into the bathroom and looked at the test.
“Yes!” I yelled
“Go to your man!” She yelled
I laughed and picked up the pregnancy test and put it in my hoodie pocked. I hugged Cassandra goodbye and walked out to my car. It was only about four-thirty in the afternoon so the kids are home from school and working on their homework. I got into my car and drove towards home, Zacky’s car was in the driveway as well as Jimmy’s. I parked behind Jimmy’s and walked into the house.
“Hey mom.” Jimmy said from the couch.
“Hey Jim how was school?” I asked
“Eh, it was alright I got some math homework that I may or may not need your help on but I’ll see later.” He said
“Well okay. Where are your sisters?” I asked
“In their room doing their reading for English.” He said
“Okay. Anything you want for dinner?” I asked
“Burgers?” He questioned
“I can do that.” I said
“Cool so hey I’ve got a question or two.” He said
“Shoot Hun.” I said
“Well I was wondering if Jack and Ava could come over.” He said
“Yeah sure. Wait… whose Jack?” I asked
“Her boyfriend.” He said
“Oh. Do we like Jack?” I asked
“Yeah he’s cool. Does after dinner work?” He asked
“Yep. What was your other question?” I asked
“Well I’ve been wondering this for a few years I just didn’t want to bring it up but why do I have the same name as Uncle Jimmy?” He asked “I mean I’ve been told a few things but I do not believe anything at the moment.” He added
“Well Hun what have you been told?” I asked
“That he’s my dad.” He said
“Well…… Jimmy he is your dad.” I said
“I sort of figured after seeing a picture of him and me looking exactly like him. Did he have this lisp thing too?” He asked
“Yes he did.” I said
“Well how did it happen?” He asked
I sat down on the couch and pushed the pregnancy test aside in my brain
“Well Jim I was eighteen and the entire band was older than me but I had an attachment to your dad and by that I mean Zack. But Jimmy lived next door and we were hanging out about a month before Zack asked me out and you know one thing led to another. I didn’t know I was pregnant until Jimmy was dead and it hit me like a rock when I realized you were his kid.” I said
“At least its better than what I’ve heard.” He said
“What have you heard?” I asked
“That you were dating dad and decided to sleep with Uncle Jimmy.” He said
“Who told you that?” I asked
“Chemistry teacher.” He said
“I’m not a whore you know that right?” I asked
He nodded.
“How’d he die?” He asked
“Accidental overdose on medicines an alcohol and he had an enlarged heart.” I said
“Do I have that?” He asked
“No you do not.” I said “You’ve had a few head injuries but other than that nothing’s wrong.” I added
“Head injuries?” He asked
“Well one time you were like three or four and you were running around yelling Avenged Sevenfold assemble and you tumbled down the staircase that leads to the basement and you slammed your head on the washer in the laundry room, you got a few stitches. Another time your dad was leaving for tour I think and you can running down the stairs and tripped and slammed your head into the base of the dishwasher, you skidded down the driveway that same day.” I said
“I was one crazy kid.” He said though his laughter
“Uncle Jimmy was like that too.” I said
“Well he is my dad.” He smiled
“Are you still going to call Zack your dad?” I asked
“Yeah, a dad is not the one who created but he’s the one who raised.” He said
“Speaking of your dad I have to talk to him about something. Do you know where he might be?” I asked
“I think I heard him playing some riff in the basement.” He said
I gave him two thumbs up and kissed his cheek.
“Zacky!” I called down the stairs.
“Babe I’m in the music room!” He called back
I walked down the stairs and checked the washing machine and it needed switched but I’d do the later. I opened the first door on the left and walked into the music room.
“Hey baby how was your day at the Haner’s?” He asked
“Good. Jimmy wants burgers for dinner is that okay?” I asked
“Actually that sounds amazing.” He said
“I told him.” I said
“Told him what?” He asked
“About Uncle Jimmy.” I said
“Oh did he ask?” He asked
“Yeah so I told him the story of who his real dad was and some other stuff he asked.” I said
“Cool. So am I still dad or and I Zack?” He asked
I sat down on his lap.
“You’re still dad. He looked at me and told me that a dad isn’t the one who created the life but he’s the one who raised the child.” I said
“We have a good son.” He said
“I have something to tell you.” I said
“What is it?” He asked wrapping his arms around my waist
. I pulled the test out of my hoodie pocket and held it out. He took it and looked at it.
“You’re pregnant?” He asked
His green eyes were happy as he smiled looking at the test.
“Babe we’re going to have another baby.” I said
He set the test down on the desk and held me close.
“Do we know how far along you are?” He asked
“No but I’ll make a doctor’s appointment while I make dinner.” I said
He smiled and kissed me on the lips.
“Hopefully this time when you go into labor I’ll be home.” He smiled
“A wife can only help.” I smiled
“I hope this one is a boy.” He said I smiled.
“Me too, I’m going to start dinner.” I said
He nodded and smacked my ass when I got up. I trudged up the stairs and walked into the kitchen.
“Jimmy is mom home?” I heard one of the girls ask
“Kitchen.” He said
“Hey mom.” She said walking into the kitchen
“Yes Blaze?” I asked
“Zayleigh said she isn’t feeling good so I told her I’d come get you.” She said
“Tell her I’ll be up in a minute.” I said She nodded and ran upstairs.
“Jimmy.” I said
“Yessum.” He asked
“Can you please get the beef patties out of the freezer and put them on the grill?” I asked
“The grill outside or the one attached to the counter?” He asked
“Inside.” I said
“Yes ma’am I can.” He said getting up
. I walked upstairs and into the girl’s room.
“Mommy I don’t feel good.” Zayleigh whined
She was laying on her bed covered up with her fleece comforter. I walked over and kissed her forehead. “Baby you’re burning up.” I said
She moaned.
“Blaze stay out of your sisters face because I don’t need both of you sick. Zay I’ll bring you up some soup and crackers and some medicine before we eat dinner. Okay?” I asked
“Okay mommy.” She said
I walked back downstairs Blaze hot on my trail.
I started dinner and made my appointment, it was in two days which would be Saturday and it’s at noon. “Blaze go get your daddy while I take your sister food.” I said
Blaze ended up with Zack’s eye color, skin color and, hair color.
“Zay I brought you some chicken noodle soup, some crackers, three bottles of water and your medicine.” I said
She nodded and sat up enough to eat. I left and walked downstairs where everyone was waiting on me to start eating.
“You guys didn’t have to wait.” I said
“We felt like it.” Jimmy said
“The appointment is Saturday at noon.” I said
Zack nodded and took a bite of his burger.
“Appointment for what?” Blaze asked
“Well you guys are going to get a baby brother or sister.” I said
“Your pregnant?” Blaze smiled
“Yes.” I said
“Yay! I love babies they are so cute.” She said
“And you better not have one until your thirty.” Jimmy said
Zack laughed and Blaze pouted but smiled at her dad and brother.
“So Zay have a fever so I’m going to take her to the doctor’s tomorrow.” I said
“Okay. Brian and Matt said they needed me for something so I have to go over there.” Zack said
“Have fun.” I rolled my eyes
“Uncle Matt and Val got into the other day in the school building.” Jimmy said
Val was one of the teachers at Huntington High School.
“About what?” I asked
“Kayla I think.” He said
“Perfect.” I said
We finished out family dinner and Blaze and Jimmy did the dishes.
“I’m sleepy so I’m going to go to bed.” Blaze said
We nodded and she hugged Zack and I goodnight and trudged up the stairs. Ava and Jack came over and they all did their homework and left because Jimmy fell asleep. Zack and I went upstairs to our room and cuddled with each other until sleep consumed us.
