She came into the kitchen and saw and grabbed my arms to help me over the spilled milk and my water breaking puddle.
“Misty can you and McKenna look after Jimmy and Alice?” Cassandra asked them helping me into the living room
“Yeah, go have you some babies.” McKenna said
I smiled and another pain shot through me.
“Get her to the hospital.” Misty said
“Mama! Mama! What’s wrong Mama!” I heard Jimmy yell coming down the stairs. “Jimmy, baby Mama’s fine. You’re going to have you little brothers or sisters soon.” I said
“Yay!” He squealed jumping into Misty’s arms
“Let’s go Brice.” Cassandra said leading me out to the car.
She pulled put her phone and handed it to me.
“It’s calling Zack.” She said
I nodded and listened to the calling tone.
“Hey Cassandra.” He answered I heard a Smosh video in the background. Really? “Zacky.” I said
“Hey baby girl what’s going on?” He asked
I heard the video pause. Another contraction pain shot through me
“Baby?” He asked
“Babe I’m in labor.” I laughed
“Why are you laughing?” He asked a little panicked
“Because this is the second time that I’ve had to call you to tell you I was having a baby.” I said
“Yeah. I’m going to go see if I can leave. I’ll call Cassandra back. Be strong.” He said
I hung up.
“Hang in there B.” She said
It stung a little when she called me B because that’s what Jimmy used to call me, but she doesn’t know that so I kept quiet. The drive to the hospital was so much longer in my mind than it really was.
“Mama having a baby!” Cassandra yelled
“You know what to do Cassandra, you are a nurse here.” Someone said
“I’m not here to be her nurse god damn it! I’m here as family!” She yelled holding me up
Some guy pulled a wheelchair behind me and took Cassandra and me to a room. It had been a few hours and I was pacing through the room.
“Stop pacing it’s not going to make the babies come any faster.” Cassandra said “Have you heard back from Zacky?” I asked
“No sweetie I haven’t.” She said I groaned and the door to my room opened up.
I looked to see Brent Haner and Matt Baker.
“Hey Brent. Who are you?” Cassandra asked
“I’m Matt Baker, Zacky’s younger brother.” Matt said
“Ohh.” She said
I walked up and hugged Matt.
“Hey cutie. How are you feeling?” He asked
“I want my husband.” I whined
“He’s on a flight back here Brice, but it might be long.” He said
I groaned and another contraction rolled past.
It had felt like days.
“How many hours has it been?” I groaned
“As of right now fifty.” Matt said
“Fifty?” I cried
“Yeah baby doll fifty.” He said kissing my sweaty forehead.
The nurse came in with a needle on a cart.
“What the hell is that?” I whined
“The epidural.” She said
“No way José.” I said
“Brice do you want this to be less painfull?” Matt asked
“Yes but not with that thing.” I said “I’ll do this naturally again.” I said
The nurse sighed and rolled her eyes when the doctor came in.
“No epidural?” He asked
“No.” I said
“Okay it should be happening really soon. You’re not the father are you?” He asked Matt
“Uhm no. I’m the brother in law.” He said
“Sorry.” He said leaving the room
“Where the fuck is Vengeance?” I growled through another contraction.
“I don’t know Brice, maybe he got caught up at the airport.” Matt said
“Or died in a plane crash.” Cassandra said Then she slapped her hand over her mouth.
“Cassandra don’t put that thought in her head.” Brent said
“I didn’t mean it! I’m just so tired everything is slipping out of my mouth.” She said The thought sunk in and I could of happened. I laid in the bed silently thinking until a contraction ripped through me.
“Get these babies out now.” I said The doctor came in.
“Are you ready Brice?” H asked
I nodded, Cassandra and Brent both hitched up one of my legs and Matt came to my side by the bed. He was my Baker right now.
“Push Brice.” Cassandra said I took in a big breath and pushed.
“There’s the shoulders.” Brent said
I’m surprised he wasn’t disgusted by what it might look like down there. I pushed again and heard crying.
“It’s a girl.” The doctor said handing the baby to a nurse to clean off.
I had a daughter.
“One more baby Brice.” Matt said
“I’m too tired.” I said laying my head on the pillow.
“Nope, you’re having this last baby.” Matt said propping me back up.
“Come on Brice push.” The doctor said
I pushed really hard and I heard a cry. Thank god I was fucking done.
“Another girl!” He said
Two girls, Zacky’s going to be happy. The nurse handed me my babies, I looked down at their tiny faces. One had blue eyes like most babies are born with maybe they’d become like Zacky’s green orbs. The other one had dark brown eyes just like mine.
“They were both seven pounds and three ounces but blue eyes is nineteen inches and brown eyes is seventeen inches” The nurse said
“What names did you and Zacky pick out?” Matt asked me
“I’ve got brown eye’s certificate.” The nurse said
“Zayleigh Marie Baker. Z-a-y-l-e-i-g-h.” I said spelling it out
“That’s pretty.” Cassandra said
“For blue eyes?” The nurse asked
“Blaze Austyn Baker. B-l-a-z-e A-u-s-t-y-n.” I said spelling it out.
“That one has Zacky written all over it.” Matt said
“Austyn and Marie are two of my three middle names.” I said
“I knew that one.” Cassandra smiled.
Another nurse brought in two little crib things and labeled them with the names, and took the babies and placed them in the correct thing.
“Brent, Matt, Cassandra scoot your boots. She needs her rest.” The doctor said after I signed the birth certificate
I laid down and soon fell asleep.
I woke up to some whispering in my hospital room, something about papers. I opened my eyes a little and saw Zacky smiling at the babies.
“Zayleigh Marie and Blaze Austyn. I have two daughters” He whispered
“Hi baby.” I said
“You’re awake.” He said coming over and sitting in the bed with me.
I nodded and kissed him, he got back up and handed Zayleigh to me and picked up Blaze and came back over and laid down with me.
“I wasn’t serious about the name Blaze.” He whispered rocking her
“Yes you were I could see it in your eyes.” I said
He smiled and nodded. The door opened and Brian and Cassandra came in with Jimmy.
“Come here Jimmy.” Zacky said
Jimmy came over and sat in between us and looked at the babies, I heard a click and looked up to see Brian taking a picture.
“The Bakers.” He said
‘Slash Sullivan.’ I mouthed to him.
“Jimmy with is your baby sister Blaze.” Zacky said
“And this is your baby sister Zayleigh.” I said
“I promise you Dada and Mama that when we’re older I’ll watch out for them just like Uncle Brian and Auntie McKenna.” He said
