I decided not to go over to Matt’s where I knew everyone else was, simply because Zacky was there and I didn’t want to face him right now, so instead, I decided on movies and junk food which my baby loved and wear nothing but my grey silk robe. I was in the middle of watching Grave Encounters at around 7pm when my phone lit up beside me and ‘Val’ flashed on the screen.
“Hello soon-to-be Mrs Sanders,” I said, trying to sound happy
“Hey momma, let me guess, you’re not here because of Zacky and Gena, right?” She sighed “They just got here and Matt and Brian are trying to calm down Jimmy, he’s going nuts because he’s back with her… he knows your upset, is he right?” By the time she stopped talking I was already crying again.
“Yeah, that’s why I’m not there and he is right,” I sniffed
“Well Jimmy just stormed through the house and out the front door, Matt, where is he going?” I heard her ask after moving the phone away a little, I heard him mumble something back “He’s on his way over to your house, he’ll be there soon, try and keep him calm?”
“Of course, He can’t stay mad around me, especially when I’m ‘adorable’ and pregnant,” I laughed
“You’re still coming dress shopping tomorrow, right?”
“Of course,” I said, smiling as I remembered I was about to become related to my best friend.
“We’ll pick you up at 11, see you then, love you,” She chirped
“Love you too,” I said before hanging up the phone, just as I sat it down beside me the front door burst open and slammed shut a second later.
“Bella?!” I heard Jimmy shout
“In here!” I called out, the same as Zacky had when I got home.
“There you are,” He breathed, running across the room and sitting beside me “I missed you at Matt’s,” He said, sticking out his bottom lip
“Why am I worrying about raising this baby right? I’ve already got a kid,” I smiled, messing up his already messy hair.
“I’m staying with you until dick-wad gets home,” He said matter of factly
“Dick-wad?” I asked with a laugh
“Yeah, Zacky,”
“Ahhh,” I nodded.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I snuggled into his side and we continued to watch the movie. As one of the guys on screen was walking into a room where a woman turned and her face mutated and she screamed, I jumped and screamed too, hiding my face in Jimmy’s neck.
“Easy Bella, I don’t want you going into early labour now,” Jimmy laughed
“Maybe we shouldn’t watch the rest of this,” I suggested, turning it off with the remote “I want to take a bath,” I told him
“Alright, come on,” He said, standing and holding out his hand for me to pull me up.
We walked upstairs and into the master bathroom, since it was the bathroom with the biggest bath, I sat on the lid of the toilet while Jimmy fetched me my towels and let the water fill the bath. 10 minutes later the bath was filled with water and plenty of bubbles. I stood and turned my back to Jimmy once he agreed to stay in the bathroom with me and climbed into the hot water, sinking down until it reached my chin, keeping my hair dry in a messy bun on the top of my head, the only thing poking out of the water and bubbles was the top of my bump.
“Y’know, I think it’s going to be a boy, he’s going to look a lot like you, but like Zacky at the same time, he’s gonna be freakin’ crazy like his uncle Jimmy and if he ever has any baby sisters… well, he’ll be just like Uncle Matt,” Jimmy said with a massive smile on his face as he kneeled at the side of the bath, rubbing my stomach. I jolted forward a little when something moved “What was that?” Jimmy asked suspiciously with a smile still on his face and his eyebrows raised.
“I think the baby just kicked,” I smiled, tears filling my eyes.
“Did you just kick little guy?” Jimmy asked my stomach, his hands still on it. There it was again, the baby was kicking “Holy shit!”
After making the baby kick a few more times the water started to get cold and I was turning into a prune. Jimmy left the room to get me something to sleep in while I climbed out and dried myself off, I dressed in a red over-sized rugby t-shirt and a pair of white boxer shorts.
When I waddled my pregnant ass downstairs I found Jimmy sat on the sofa watching Jacobs Ladder – no surprise there. I sat beside him in the same position as before and we watched the film in a comfortable silence before Jimmy spoke.
“So, what exactly happened with you and Zacky?” He asked, not taking his eyes off of the TV
“I came home, found him with Gena, she showed me the photo online of Zacky and I kissing at Lamaze class, I went ape shit when I found out they were together after everything she did and he got mad at me and just… left, I don’t know what I’m going to do, if they’re back together, I won’t be living here, and we’ve already started the nursery…” I sighed
“I’ll kill him if he ever makes you cry again,” he said simply.
A few hours and Dirty Dancing later I was falling asleep in Jimmy’s arms when the door flew open and in walked a sober Zacky, which was surprising.
“Hey dude, the baby’s kicking,” Jimmy told him with a smile on his face.
Zacky ran across the room, trying to get out of his jacket my thrashing around and shaking it off his arm before tossing it across the room and pressing his hands to my stomach as he kneeled in front of me.
“Not right now,” I laughed “But we would love to see you do that again,”
