*Zacky’s POV*

“Mr. Baker?” The doctor asked. I’d been sitting outside of the emergency operating room they’d put Brian in for what felt like an eternity.
“Yes, that’s me. How is my friend? Is he going to survive?” I asked, unsure if I even wanted to know the answer.
“Mr. Baker, your friend is going to be just fine. He’s in a stable condition now, but he is very lucky. He’ll have to take it easy for a while after we stitch him up, but eventually things will go back to normal for him. We have him on heavy medication, so it’s not likely he’ll be waking up anytime soon.” The doctor informed. I was so happy to hear that my best friend was going to be okay. This wasn’t just anybody, this was Brian. One of, if not my very best friend. Everything was going to be okay. Bella is dead, Mia is going to give birth soon, and we’re both engaged to two amazing girls. It seems like for every bad thing that’s happened, there are three good things to make up for it. But Matty was still on the run. I have no clue where he is, or what he plans on doing next. All this worrying had made me hungry. I went back downstairs to the lobby to get myself a snack from the vending machines. I put a dollar in and bought myself some chocolate covered pretzels. I decided since Brian was probably going to be asleep all night that it was now or never to tell Mia.

Yeah..ok so listen. Matty somehow knew about our plans to kill Bella and he found out and found her body and completely flipped out. And he may or may not have shot Brian...-Z

HE SHOT BRIAN?! OMFG. IS HE OK? IS HE ALIVE?!-M

Calm down, he’s gonna be fine. I just talked to the doctor and he’s gonna have to take it easy for a while, but things will go back to normal pretty soon.

I wanna see him.-M

No. I’m sorry, but it’s not safe. I have no clue where Matty is or what his future plans are. I want you and Lucy to stay in the house where it’s safe. Lock the doors. Just wait until I get home and I can answer any question you have.-Z

The doctor says Brian will be asleep for a while, so I figure now’s a good time to get home to the girls. They’re probably both worried sick.

I get home around nine fifteen and the second I open the door I’m bombarded with questions from both Mia and Lucy. I take them both into the living room and sit them down.
“Alright. Ask away.” I request.
“How’s Brian?” Mia asked, concerned.
“He’s going to be fine, I told you. Try not to worry too much about him. They finished stitching him up a while ago.”
“Didn’t wanna think about that, but thanks for that image.” Mia said.
“How’re you?” Lucy asked. I smile and pull her into my lap, pecking her cheek.
“I’m here, aren’t I? I’m fine, Brian’s gonna be fine, everything is just finee.” I insist. I cradle Lucy in my arms as we all let our thoughts fill silence.
“I’ve got a question, how the fuck did Matty find out about your plans?” Mia asked.
“I honestly don’t know. I personally thought we did a decent job of keeping it secret. Where is Matty anyway?” I asked.
“He was here.” Mia answered.
“Yeah,” Lucy added, “We even had a little talk..”
“What did he say to you?” Mia and I asked at the same time. Lucy looked at me with scared eyes.
“Please don’t be mad at me..” She pleaded quietly. I put her face to mine and our noses touched. I stared deep into her eyes and pecked her lips.
“I’ve never been mad at you before, so why would I be mad now?” I asked. She crossed her arms and wouldn’t make eye contact with me. Why not? I was beginning to worry.
“Babe..?” I asked after she still didn’t say anything. She turned to look at me once and then she just lost it. She burst into tears and buried her face into my chest. I mouthed to Mia “what happened?” but she shrugged. She knew as much as I did.
“What did Matty say to you?” I asked.
“It-It’s not about what M-matty said to me, it’s about w-what I said to Matty.” She said, stuttering from trying to hold in her crying. Mia and I exchanged a very confused look.
“Well than what did you say to Matty?” I asked.
“I...I told him it was you.” She finally confessed. I was still confused.
“Told him it was me who killed Bella?” I asked.
“No, no! Told him it was your idea to do so. I’m so sorry, Zacky. Please don’t hate me.” She trailed, starting to face away from me. I scoffed and pulled her into my arms.
“You know I love you, right? I could never hate you.” I answered. I wasn’t exactly jumping for joy that she’d told Matty it was my idea, but atleast Matty hadn’t gotten to her and she was safe. That’s all that mattered to me.
“So if Matty’s not here, than where is he?” I asked.
“Probably looking for you, let’s be honest.” Mia said. I shot her a look.
“Thanks, Mia. That makes us both feel awesome.” Lucy said sarcastically.
“Before we all freak out, let’s just find Matty and talk things out.” Mia suggested. Lucy and I both rolled our eyes.
“Talk things out? ‘Oh, hey Matty! By the way, earlier today we killed your girlfriend, please don’t kill me I’m sorry!’ Come on, Mia. I know Matty. He’s not one to talk things out.” I explained.
“Okay, okay. I see your point. We atleast have to figure out where he disappeared to.” Mia said. This time Lucy and I agreed. We have to find Matty, before he finds me..
