Chapter Fifty-Eight
"Look man, just listen to what we have to say." Zacky pleaded. Matty was quick to respond.
"Why the fuck should I listen to anything you two have to say? You just killed the love of my life! How would you feel if I killed Lucy, Zacky? Or if I killed Mia, huh Brian? So go ahead. Try to explain yourselves. Cause I sure would love to hear this."
Zacky and I looked at each other. Our faces were full of regret and guilt. We were scrambling our brains for something, anything to say. "That's what I thought. Who's idea was this? What the hell was your logic behind this?" He asked. I thought back. Zacky had been the first one to suggest the idea, but I was the one who'd really ran with it and formulated a plan. I wasn't about to let my brother go down. Even if he had suggested it first.
"It was my idea." I said simply, hoping the fear wasn't detectable in my voice. Zacky slapped my left arm.
"Dude?!" He exclaimed, obviously wondering why I'd taken the blame. We both knew what Matty was capable of, we went to High School with him...It was cool to watch him fight, just not with us.
"Which one of you two was it?" Matty asked, growing impaitent.
"I just told you. It was me." I said. Matty just looked at me and..smiled. The fakest smile I'd ever seen. Fear was pulsing all throughout my body. Why would he smile?
"Brian, Brian, Brian." Matty said, stepping closer to me. I wanted to back away, but I knew if I did that he'd know I was afraid, and I was. An angry Matty is not a good Matty. He stepped closer and closer, and alined his mouth with my ear. He whispered one word:
"Vengeance."
And everything went black.
