Chapter Thirty-Seven
"So what've you got planned for today?" I asked Mia as I braided her long hair. She sighed and answered,
"Nothing special. Just a boring doctor's appointment and then probably shopping later." I jumped up.
"A doctors appointment? I wanna come! I wanna get a look at my future niece or nephew." Mia smiled and shrugged.
"Alright, you can come. We should probably leave soon, it's in like an hour.

We arrived at the doctor's office right on time. Brian checked Mia in and then joined us in the waiting room. It was filled with sure to be disgusting toys and a TV that was turned to the Disney Channel.
"So exactly how far along are you?" I asked happily. Mia smiled and answered,
"Thriteen weeks." I couldn't help but smile.
"Are you excited?" I asked. She turned to Brian and then answered,
"While I wasn't exactly ecstatic at first, I'm not gonna lie, having this kid is gonna be pretty cool." We talked some more until the nurse emerged from a room.
"Mia Lazzari?" She asked. All three of us stood up and followed her into the doctor's office. The nurse checked her blood pressure and asked her lots of questions.
"What are some of your symptoms?" She asked, pen in hand, ready to write down the answers.
"Morning sickness, fatigue, moodiness, some cravings." The nurse nodded and asked,
"Have you been keeping a good diet?" Mia smiled and put her head down a bit. She answered,
"Not exactly. I'm not super healthy but it's not like I'm shoving sixteen twinkies down my throat a day." the nurse smiled and said,
"That's alright. As long as you're remembering your prenatial vitamins you should be alright." Mia nodded.
"Dr. Huntington will be with you shortly." The nurse said, standing up and walking out. Now the three of us were all alone.
"How exciting!" I gushed, causing Brian and Mia to laugh.
"If you're this excited now, you're gonna make an awesome aunt when she finally comes." Brian said.
"She?" I asked. "I thought you guys didn't know yet?"
"Well, we don't exactly." Mia said. "I feel like it'll be a boy, and he thinks it'll be a girl. So until we figure it out for sure, conversations about he/she will be very confusing." I was about to say something, when the doctor came in.
"Hello, Mia. Hello, Brian. Who's this?" He asked.
"This is the baby's future aunt/godmother." Mia clarified, smiling. I smiled and waved shyly.
"Alrighty. How've you been feeling?" He asked.
"Well, other than the awful morning sickness I'm pretty okay."
"And you've been taking your vitamins?" Mia nodded.
"Alright, why don't you step up on here, lay down and we'll see if we can get an image." Mia smiled and sat up on the table, then laid down. She lifted her shirt, exposing her growing baby bump. Brian looked at it and smiled. I could tell he was excited about becoming a father.The doctor squeezed some stuff onto her stomach and rubbed it in a little. He then took the device that we show me my future godkid and placed it on her lower stomach, searching for the baby. "Here's the head.." He said, zooming in a little. Brian squeezed Mia's hand and she smiled. "And if we listen, we can hear the heartbeat." The room became silent as a bum-bum-bum-bum filled the room. I saw tears forming in both Brian and Mia's eyes, and even my own. It was freaking beautiful."And here's the other head.." The doctor said, moving the device. We all had very confused looks on our faces. Brian spoke up,
"Uh, doc. Why does my kid have two heads?" He asked.
"Because you're having twins," The doctor answered with a smile.
"Twins?!" All three of us exclaimed.
"Why yes, identical twin-"
"Shhh!" Brian said, cutting him off from telling us the gender(s)(?) "We want it to be a surprise." He added. The doctor nodded and said,
"Well, I can assure you. There's two in there and they're both very healthy. Congradulations, Mr. and Mrs. Haner."
"Oh, we're not..." Mia trailed. She shook it off and then added, "Thank you." As the doctor dried off her stomach and she slid her shirt back down. We were escorted back to the waiting room after she'd planned her next appointment. We then left and headed for home.
"Hey-O!" Brian shouted as we let ourselves into Matty's. Jimmy, Johnny and Zacky were all there and playing poker with Matty.
"Soooo? How was it? Am I getting a neice or a nephew?" Jimmy asked excitedly. Brian laughed a little and answered,
"Yes, possibly both." Jimmy was confused.
"How can I be getting both? Lucy, are you pregnant now to?" He asked.
"God, no." I answered instantly. We gave him a minute to process and then he realized. He jumped up and down and exclaimed,
"YOU GUYS ARE HAVING TWINS?!"
