I've watched an old friend who was like the Grandfather I never knew (mine died before I was born and I'm not close with my Papa/Dad's father) waste away. But I only ever heard the coughing and saw his skin detoriate as it got worse. He moved out of the shared house I lived in and then a few weeks later, we got a letter in the mail with his old key, stating that he'd passed away. Broke my fucking heart.
