Concert Memories

Have you ever seen Avenged Sevenfold live? If so, let us know about your favorite memories from the shows!
If you haven't seen them live, tell us what you hope for in a show put on by the boys.

---

I've seen the boys live 18 times and counting. As for favorite concert memories, it'd definitely have to be a show where a friend and I (who were a bit too giddy) were right up against the barricade. Matt was talking and my friend nudged me and yelled, "I dare you to tell him that you can see up his nose!" Me, not one to back down on dares, screamed as loud as I could, "Hey, Matt! I can see up your nose!"

He heard me, but made me repeat myself three times before he got the full message. His response? A long story about the weird things that have happened to him on tour followed by, "And just for the record, I can see down your shirt."

It was hilarious. During the show, Matt would catch my eye and hold his finger up under his nose as to cover it from me seeing up it. Afterwards, he threw me the setlist and I got two of Zacky's picks.

It was a great show, and now apparently it's a nice inside joke between the fans on tumblr because someone got the whole exchange on tape!

I seen them live for the first time last November. My favorite memories was the stage caught on fire. Arin quickly got up from the drum kit and ran towards Brian which caused everyone to laugh. Matt looked at Arin and said, "Just run like that huh?" It was hallarious especially when Matt said "We haven't even gotten into the song and the stage is done on fire, we're doing great tonight!" It was really good. And Johnny kept eyeing me up and down and flirtaious winking with me. It was the best night ever!

I saw them live for the first time April 27th, 2011 in Rockford, Illinois. I had been DYING to see them live for the longest time and after Jimmy passed away I thought I would never get the opportunity because I thought they were going to break up. When I found out about this show and that I was able to go (I didn't even know 100% if I would make it until 24 hours before the actual show), words couldn't explain the happiness I felt. I felt that I could've died happy then.

I saw the guys two more times after that: At Uproar in San Diego on October 9th, 2011 (another show where I didn't know I'd be able to make it until two days prior) Another great time there although I was in the seats for this one and not in the pit.

Then there was December 17th, 2011. This show I had known about for a while and knew I'd be able to make it because I was going to already be on leave so nothing Navy related would've kept me from this show. I gave up 2 days of being at home though, but it was worth it. For my birthday I had bought myself a VIP package for this show just to have early entry into the venue. I drove 115 miles from San Diego to Ontario, California, sat outside in chilly drizzly weather for almost four hours and got on the barricade directly in front of Zacky. This was a special show because it was close to their home, and it was the last show of their Buried Alive tour, and pretty much their last show ever for touring with "Nightmare"

I think my favorite concert moment was from the April show where I waited outside the venue for about three hours and for the majority of that time there was a guy dressed up as waldo. Right before the guys were gonna play "God Hates Us" Matt was talking, then goes "WALDO!!! There is a guy up here dressed as Waldo. WE FOUND YOU MOTHER FUCKER!!!!" All three of the shows were amazing, and I can't wait to see them live again. Although this time I'm hoping that my job can actually get me on tour with them because I work for a company that designs, builds, and transports lighting stuff for concerts and stuff, and A7X have a contract with our company, so we do their lighting. That would make my life complete, because next on my list is to meet at least one of the guys because I have to tell them how much they mean to me...

I've seen them a total of two times - the first being on their Uproar Tour and then the second being at the Buried Alive Tour.

the first, oh man, I was hysterical because I had (at least, if I recall correctly, since I had been a fan a few months before Jimmy's passing) just gotten into them, and I pretty much begged my Uncle to take me to one of their concerts. I was amazed at what I saw since I hadn't seen anything of theirs live before. They put on the best show I've ever seen in my life! I (unluckily) had my BlackBerry and didn't think to bring a camera instead so I basically recorded everything on my phone (from sounds to videos to pictures), and I got a blurb of Matt talking about Jimmy before they swooped into So Far Away... It had me in tears before, and especially when they played the song because it was their first tour without Jimmy and everybody had their lighters or cell phones raised... It was gorgeous. I couldn't... There really isn't a way to describe it. I can't think of any good adjectives right now, my mind is so fjsbxjhxk. The concert experience was amazing.

As for the Buried Alive Tour (which, omg, they allowed us to record Buried Alive and send it in for a music video, WHAT), it was amazing because not only did I meet my best friend (who, coincidentally, went to a show before me on the Uproar Tour), but I saw Asking Alexandria for the first time. A7X had a fabulous opening, I about scared everybody away from me, Matt's commentary had me in stitches... Ugh, and the pictures I got from it! It was just... The best. Best concert I've ever been to.
soft skeletons. soft skeletons.

I've seen them a total of 6 times.
Uproar 2010
Nightmare After Christmas
Rockfest 2011 (Cadott, WI)
Buried Alive (3 times)

And they never disappointed me. I got backstage at the last one I went to. It was totally fun watching them and they all waved to me.

Johnny always noticed me in the audience because I had a Rev iphone cover and a sign that I took to each concert. The sign got me backstage and I may use it again when they're on tour.

I have hundreds of pictures, and only one backstage but it was awesome.

I'd like to meet them someday.

The one and only time I ever saw them in concert was November of last year. The day AFTER Thanksgiving and apparently the guy driving their tour bus, his wife had made them a delicious feast. It was such an amazing concert. I wasn't close close, but I was close enough to know (rather yet, think) that Johnny could hear me. It was great seeing them that night, because they were all smiles. I, like a retarded fan girl on crack, kept yelling out Johnny's name (oh the sexual fantasies), and he would smile. It was great! A girl can dream, right?

I've seen Avenged Sevenfold in concert once. It wasn't when Jimmy was alive, due to the fact that I didn't even start listening to them until just a few days before he died. It was September 23, 2011, on the Uproar Tour. They opened with Nightmare, and when they came on, I spazzed out and ran away from my entire group of friends I was with. I pushed myself up against the barrier and screamed the lyrics. Syn was right up in front of me, and he looked at me a couple times throughout the concert, as I had screamed his name a lot. I was so happy to see them, but a bit sad that I never got backstage. It was an amazing day.

I've only seen them once; Uproar Tour on September 18, 2011, with Mike Portnoy. I've listened to them since 2008, so I was ecstatic. I was with my best friend, also, which was who got me into them in the first place. We had lawn tickets, sadly, due to the lack of money, but I wasn't complaining. However, when we got to the ampitheater, a ticket seller had us trade our tickets, plus five dollars, to move up into seats. We immediately took the offer and got to sit directly in the middle. And trust me we were excited we wouldn't have to sit in the grass. Anyway, we started to look at all the merch booths and bought some and then we made our way to the other half of the festival, where the Jagermeister stage was, and we saw the Vengeance University merch booth, so we ran over there and there was a sign saying that Zacky would do a meet and greet. Sadly, it was only for VIP. We ended up staying against the fence, though. We waited about an hour and being seven feet away from his was better than nothing. Once the concert started, though, it blew my mind. Not only was it Avenged, but it was also my first concert. I was jumping screaming at the top of my lungs, but then So Far Away began. I looked at my best friend and we both instantly started to tear up. M. Shadows stopped, like he did with every concert I'm sure, and had us lift our lights up. I didn't have a lighter, so I lifted my camera and he gave the speech about Jimmy and then the guitar solo began. My best friend and I instantly cried. I'm even getting chills right now writing this. It was by far the best experience of my life and still to this day I get chills when listening to any of the songs that they played.
I sadly have only gotten to one show, Uproar Festival 2010. Honestly I can't remember half the songs that were played or how they sounded. What I do remember is standing right against the barricade and Synyster Gates straight in front of me. I also recall all the girls around me commenting on how sexy Syn looked. All I could see was the sadness in his eyes. I really wanted to grab him and hug him until he was okay. I do give Syn props for being the only member that night not wearing sunglasses to cover his eyes.
