Leaving Here Not Coming Back

School Day

http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=47209786 Marina's Eye

The next morning, Marina's eyes snapped open, internally knowing it was time to get ready for school.

She sat up, hissing at the pain that was deep in her pelvis. Having grown used to this over the years; also with the knowledge that she was indeed infertile, she got out of bed and slowly made her way to the bathroom where she showered, dried off and got dressed before putting on what makeup she had and brushing her hair.

Marina silently went down stairs and headed to the kitchen. She passed by her naked, passed out father on the couch and made him the required breakfast; pancakes, eggs, sausage and a beer.

She ate her standard two pancakes and one sausage before grabbing her back pack. She left the house and began her walk to school, limping slightly.

Her long slender fingers fingers toyed with the cross at her neck; after a night like last, she always wore it. As if her not fighting was a sin, and that she would be forgiven. The cold metal at her throat soothed her like so many others, but it gave her hope as well. Hope that someday, she would be away from her father. No matter what, no matter who, if the opportunity presented itself, she'd take it.

As the large brick building cam into her sight, she made herself stop limping and approached the school. Walking through the corner better known as 'smokers corner' she held her breath always hating the smell of cigarettes.

After ignoring some shoves as she made her way up the long path that lead to the front entrance she made her usual detour around to the back of the school; where the music rooms were. One of the doors doesn't lock, and it leads to a forgotten closet full of boxes, guitars and dust. Going in that way and out the closet door she walked through the hall warily; her eyes darting around as she made her way to her locker. She unlocked it and opened it, putting her bag in it and getting out what she'd need. Marina's arms stung from the recent wounds and her pelvis felt heavy and almost numb. She ignored this as she headed to her first class early; like always.

When she arrived in her geometry class she took her seat in the back like normal. She is a sophomore but takes higher grade level courses most of the time. Her English is for seniors, her science class for juniors, her language is for seniors as well. To avoid her father, she often studied, things just sink in. “Good morning Stow.” Her teacher, Mrs. Kenny said flatly. “Good morning ma'am.” Marina replied softly before getting out her folder. Mrs. Kenny, like the rest of Marina's teachers, didn't really like her. She did like the fact that a sophomore was taking her class and passing with a 97, but that was it. Marina knew this, and when asked she would help someone talking as little as possible.

That was the only time anyone was nice to her; when they got something out of it. When the class had finished learning their new lesson, Marina could see that Chris looked so confused. Chris was the closest thing she had to a friend. He never made fun of her and even joked with her briefly. So she considered this safe. She stood and walked over to him with her pencil, standing in front of his desk. He looked up at her. “Want help?” She offered quietly. He nodded and let her sit beside him. After working with him for a few minuets she was satisfied with his work so she complemented him before returning to her seat.

After a few more classes, it was time for lunch. Marina got her standard PB and J and sat on the floor by the bathroom; the only place she wouldn't be made fun of. She got the PB and J because it was free, unlike the pizza most of the other students had. She took two bites when she felt her head hit the floor, her lunch flying across the floor. “Even the bathroom is too good for you bitch!” Becca growled before delivering one more kick to Marina's side before she and her cronies clicked away. Teachers saw, but turned a blind eye. With a painful deep breath, Marina sat up then looked at her sandwich and frowned. She opened her folder that was in her pile of things and pulled out a necklace. But this wasn't just some necklace, this was the last thing her mother gave her before she got into drugs. Her memories of her mother during the time of this necklace almost made her smile. Now her mother is almost never around, and if she is it's to grab some beer from the fridge. She never wore this necklace because she knew someone would take it, they take everything from her.

But they never touch her cross necklace, Marina wonders why but would rather not worry about it. She ran her thumb over it a few times before returning it to the folder and gathering her things; standing up as the bell rang. She walked through the crowd avoiding people that almost ran into her as if she wasn't there. Suddenly she was shoved, her shoulder smacking a locker loudly; her locker. “Hey Stow, I saw you talking to my boyfriend in geometry; your gonna get it.” Sonya sneered, yanking the locker open and jamming Marina's tiny body inside; slamming it and twisting the lock.

For two class periods, she stood in the tiny space quietly. She didn't bang on the door, she knew that it wouldn't help. It was then that Chris walked by. There was no one to see this so she banged on the locker, making him jump and run up to it. She told him the combo and he opened it, letting her out. “Thank you.” She stretched her arms and hissed slightly at the tearing pain. He nodded and went on walking. Marina got her backpack, knowing someone would be at her locker after school, before heading to her language class; French.

Her grandmother had taught her Spanish from the time she was about five before she passed away when Marina was 12. She'd learned to be fluent in the language. So she wanted something she'd actually have to earn the credit for. “Why are you late?” Her teacher Mr. Piatt ordered when she came in. She looked at Sonya who was also in this class. “I lost track of time.” A few chuckles from the class. “Don't let it happen again.” Marina nodded and took her seat. At the end of the school day, Marina shouldered her bag and practically ran out of her Health class. She headed straight for the door and out it. Little did she know the lacrosse and volleyball teams were outside.

Sonya and Trina.

Notes

What will happen to Marina? Will she get away for once? What do Trina and Sonya have in store?
