Baby Don't Cry

We fell apart, let's make a new start.

The very next morning I woke up to a horrible headache.

As I opened my eyes, I saw Jimmy's face in front of mine. I felt his arms tightly around me and I thought back at the previous night and getting drunk with him. He had turned out to be a really great guy but to think of it, maybe I shouldn't have slept in the same bed with him. I mean, nothing had happened and I was glad because of that, but, you know... What if it was going to be really awkward once he woke up?

Jimmy woke up only a few minutes later and he let out a groan as he pulled his arms away from me, burying his face in his hands.

”Holy shit,” he mumbled, ”I feel really fucking horrible.”

”Me too,” I mumbled and laid on my back, looking up at the white ceiling.

”Did we have sex?”

”Nope,” I told him.

”Damn,” he mumbled and yawned, ”Are you hungry?”

”Well, yeah...”

”Come on. Let's get you something to eat, flower girl,” he said as he sat up.

He pulled me up and grabbed my hand before leading me into the kitchen which had become a very familiar place to me by that time.

I sat down as Jimmy went to the fridge and groaned once again.

”There's nothing to eat expect for last night's fancy food,” he told me.

”I see a banana. I could just eat that,” I mumbled as my eyes focused on some fruits that were on the table.

”Please don't,” he said, ”It's such a turn on when a girl eats penis-shaped food and I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable by having a boner.”

”Uh, okay,” I mumbled.

Jimmy looked back into the fridge before pulling out a bowl of some salad. He placed it on a table in front of me and then handed me a plate.

”I hate salad,” he told me, ”But that was the best thing I could find.”

”This is fine,” I told him before I started eating.

Jimmy and I sat in the kitchen for at least an hour before Michelle, Brian's wife, walked in.

”Morning,” she said and went to take a bottle of water from the fridge, ”I didn't know you had a girl over, Jimmy.”

”She's my flower girl,” Jimmy told her.

”I'm Brian's old friend,” I said with a nod.

”Oh, yeah, I remember now,” she said, ”How did you and Brian meet? And how long has it been?”

I got a bit uncomfortable, not really knowing if Michelle knew that Brian and I had a past together.

”We met about ten years ago,” I told her, ”We were neighbours.”

”Ah, okay. Didn't you live near the beach?”

”Uh, yeah,” I nodded, ”I still do. When Brian's parents decided to move away, we... We never stayed in touch.”

Michelle, Jimmy and I chatted for a moment but at some point I decided to leave. Since Jimmy didn't have a ride home, I promised to help him and drove him home.

I stopped the car in front of a big house and let him get out of the car.

”Thanks for the ride, flower girl,” he said with a grin as he leaned in to kiss my cheek. I blushed and nodded, biting my lip.

”It was nice to meet you,” I told him as he opened the door and got out. He waved goodbye and I watched as he walked into his house.

When I got home, all I wanted to do was to take a long shower and relax in bed after that. But as I walked in, I found my mom looking very pissed in the kitchen. She had apparently been waiting for me.

”Where have you been, Sophia?” she exclaimed, crossing her arms over her chest.

”At a friend's wedding,” I told her, ”Why? What's wrong?”

”I've tried to call you at least ten times. We've all been very worried of you!”

”Mom, I'm 25,” I mumbled, ”I don't think I need to tell you about everything that I do.”

”As long as you live in my house, you're going to keep me updated,” she said.

”Fine, okay. I'm sorry,” I apologized with a nod, ”Can I go to my room now?”

”Yes.”

”Thank you,” I mumbled.

The thing was, that I it didn't bother me that I lived with my parents, even though I was 25 already. I mean, of course it would've been nice to have my own apartment but I just didn't have the money. And I absolutely loved the house we lived in because it had so many amazing memories with it. I didn't think I ever wanted to move out of it because it was by the beach and my most precious memory of my teenager years had taken place at the beach with Brian.

A few days went by after the wedding as I didn't hear anything from Brian. I was sure that he had forgotten about me, but I most definitely hadn't forgotten about him. In fact, he had been running through my dreams and mind for days and I just couldn't get my thoughts off him. At work, I could barely focus on working because all I could think about was Brian, and how I was dying to see him. I guess I had developed a little crush on him.

A week after the wedding, Jimmy walked into the flower shop. I was in the middle of a phone conversation with a customer and told Jimmy to wait a moment.

While I talked, I watched as Jimmy looked at and smelled the flowers, and looked rather disgusted. Obviously he wasn't a big fan of flowers. I couldn't help but giggle every now and then.

When I finally ended the call and looked at Jimmy, I noticed a grin on his face.

”Isn't your boss here? Are you all alone?” he asked me and leaned against the counter.

”I'm all alone,” I told him with a nod, ”So, what are you doing here?”

”We're having a party tonight,” he told me, ”All of the guys will be there. No girls.”

”Uh huh?”

”I came to invite you,” he said.

”I thought there weren't going to be any girls?”

”But I want you to be there. And Brian, too,” he said, ”He hasn't stopped talking about you. Michelle is really fucking annoyed by that.”

”Really?”

”Really. Which is why you should come. Come on, flower girl, it'll be fun,” he said, ”Please?”

”Fine, okay. But I don't want to cause any drama,” I mumbled. He nodded.

”Can I have your number? I'll text you more information about the night.”

”Okay, okay.”

As I was driving to Jimmy's place where the party was being held, I promised myself I wasn't going to drink any alcohol. I didn't want there to be any drama and if I was completely sober, nothing would happen.

I arrived, parked my car and went to ring the doorbell. A moment later Jimmy opened the door and pulled me into a tight hug. He led me into his big living room and I saw Matt, Zacky, Johnny and Brian sitting on couches with beers in their hands. I sat down on a couch next to Matt as the guys said heys and what's ups to me.

It didn't take long for the guys to get drunk, and because I wasn't going to drink anything, I wandered around Jimmy's big house and was amazed by all of the cool things he had. I found a big studio room and he had his own little movie theater and I could only wonder how much money he had.

”What are you doing here?”

Brian's voice coming from behind me scared me and my heart skipped a beat. I turned around and saw him leaning against the doorway with a smile on his face and a beer in his hand.

”Why does Jimmy have a movie theater inside of his house?” I asked him.

”I don't know. He puts his money to the stupidest things,” Brian said with a laugh.

I smiled and looked at Brian for a moment.

”Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked me.

”I don't know,” I said quietly, ”I guess... I guess I like looking at you. I missed your face.”

”Sophia... Can I be honest with you?”

”Uh huh?”

”When I saw you for the first time after coming back here, I realized that we never got to finish what we had back then. And... And I would give anything to have it back. But I just got married,” he said quietly as he took a step closer to me.

I held my breath for a moment as I looked straight into his eyes, not really knowing what to think of it all.

”Do you truly love your wife?” I whispered.

”Yes,” he nodded, ”I really, truly do love her. But I feel attracted to you, Soph. I always have.”

”I wish you wouldn't have told me that,” I admitted quietly.

He slowly lifted his hand up and touched my cheek with his fingers. I shivered and bit my lip as he touched me carefully.

”I think... I think we should go back to the living room,” I whispered and swallowed hard.

”Can I kiss you?” he whispered as he looked at my lips.

I wanted him to, I really did but it wouldn't have been right. He had just gotten married and it wasn't fair.

”I don't think that's a very good idea,” I whispered and put my hand against his chest, feeling his heartbeat through his shirt.

And my god, it made me want to press my cheek against his warm chest and let him hold me forever.

”Please, Sophia. Just one kiss. It won't have to change anything,” he whispered.

”But it will. It'll change everything. Don't you understand? I'm going to fall in love with you and that's not what we want, not right now,” I said quietly.

He nodded and sighed, putting his hand down.

And then the moment was over, just like that.

You made me cry!:(:(:(
I loved the story, right from the first chapter. Sofia and Brian's first time, them separating, Brian marrying Michelle, Jimmy having feelings for Sophia, Sophia falling for Brian, Brian getting a divorce and marrying Sophia, the couple losing their child, and finally separating.

Loved it! But ending was really sad:(
