Eternal Blossom

Waffles

“So, what are you going to do for Aiya’s,” Rayne began during breakfast at Yona’s the next morning.

“Cousin’s wedding! Stop, Ray. I haven’t even asked if he will go with me,” she glared over at Rayne as she interrupted before looking up at Brian with a sweet smile. “Please?”

“Su-ure,” he answered slowly looking between the two women. Finally looking into Aiyana’s eyes, he smiled, “just tell me when and where.”

“Oklahoma, next month,” she said quickly before taking a bite of her waffle.

“Woah, you’re going back to the reservation with a white guy, Blossom,” her father asked from her other side, nudging her with his forearm.

“If he’ll still go after that comment, yes,” she said to her father with a laugh.

“I don’t see why not,” Brian grinned with a shrug. Besides, it could be nice to get away for a little while just the two of them, he thought to himself.

Rayne’s eyebrows were almost meeting her hair line, and she nudged Zack’s knee with her own as she spoke so only he could hear her, “Wanna go with me and see the shit unfold?”

Zack looked at his girlfriend quizzically, but ended up nodding when she winked at him. If she was going, he was more than willing to be her plus one. He’d really fallen for this spontaneous and fun loving beauty in the amount of time they’d been together, he realized.

Matt wandered into the kitchen to grab a plate of waffles and bacon in a pair of lounge pants, running his hand through his long hair as he stretched. Rayne looked up at him and smiled before looking over at Aiyana who was too busy giggling with Brian to notice that Matt had walked in.

“So, Matthew,” Rayne said cooly, “What cha doin’ next weekend?”

“Nothing that I’m aware of, why,” Matt asked with his back to her as he loaded his plate.

“Because we need to plan something for Aiyana’s birthday,” she rushed out as she stood with her empty plate, intent on getting out of the way if Aiyana came after her.

“You ginger bitch,” Aiyana glared at her over the table, and dropped her silverware to take chase.

Matt reached out and caught her around the waist as they came flying around the kitchen, effectively allowing Rayne to escape, who stopped in the living room doorway to make a face at her.

“Why are you so dead set on killing her, Aiya? It’s too early for this shit,” Matt grumbled in her ear before letting her go. He’d done his job in giving Rayne a head start, it wasn’t his fault she hadn’t taken advantage of it.

As soon as Rayne saw him let her cousin go, she spun around and took off again, letting out a high pitched squeal as she did so. The guys all watched from the table, laughing at the two of them.

“She’s not a fan of her birthday,” Yona warned them all with a chuckle, “something about it always being a horrible day. You’d be wise to steer clear of it.”

With that, he stood and carried his plate to the sink since he was done eating. Someone had to stop Aiyana from getting ahold of Rayne, and if he knew his girls, he knew right where Rayne was leading her. Making his way across the kitchen, he laughed to himself as he closed a door.

“We should do something for her,” Matt told Brian and Zacky as he poured syrup on his waffles.

“Did you not just hear the wise old man warn us from that,” Brian asked with a chuckle.

“No, come on, she’ll love it! We throw her a party Avenged style, and nothing will go wrong,” Zacky chimed in, excited to throw a party.

“You have a Halloween party to throw a week after that,” Brian retorted with a raised eyebrow at Zacky as he continued, “how about you worry about that and I’ll worry about her birthday not going horribly?”

Suddenly there was a loud bang on the other side of the door, and Yona doubled over in laughter. Opening the door, he looked down to see Rayne laying on the floor, obviously the one who ran into the door.

“How many times do I have to tell you girls not to run in my damn house,” he laughed.

Aiyana was too busy laughing to pounce, all worries about a birthday disaster completely off her mind now. Stepping over her friend, she walked into the kitchen and high fived her dad.

“You know Blossom, I didn’t care which one of you ran into that door,” he smirked at her.

With an eye roll aimed at her father, Aiyana leaned over and extended a hand to Rayne to help her up. The other woman slapped her hand out of the way and got to her feet, not impressed by the sudden mood change.

“Cunt muffin, I’m not trying to dislocate your shoulder this early in the morning,” Rayne said with a smile.

“You don’t weigh that much, babe,” Zacky called over to her, holding out her coffee to lure her back to the table.

Brian paled at their words, knowing that Aiyana still hadn’t told the guys anything about her disorder, and didn’t want them to know. Rayne ducked her head, realizing her slip up when
Zacky called out to her, and walked to the table guiltily to sit beside him with her coffee.

Matt, taking in all of the words and reactions looked over at Aiyana who was glaring at Rayne’s back.

“Is your shoulder not healed? I thought it was all better after that Lance thing,” he asked her, a bite of waffles stuffed into his mouth immediately thereafter.

“It’s healed alright,” Yona answered for her, patting her on top of her head as he passed for more coffee.

“Then I don’t see the problem,” Zacky shrugged.

“The problem is she has Ehlers-Danlos,” Yona said so they could hear him from the coffee pot, knowing his daughter wouldn’t want to divulge the information.

Brian stood up and walked over to his girlfriend, walking with her back into the living room where they curled up on the couch together, and he did his best to distract her while her father explained her disorder to their friends.

As they passed through to the back yard so that Brian could smoke, Aiyana found herself caught in a hug by a very large male body. She knew who it was instantly, and she closed her eyes, not ready for the pity party that she knew was about to be thrown.

“Why didn’t you tell us,” Matt asked as he stepped back and Zack hugged her next, and much more gently.

“Because she doesn’t like to be treated any differently. She thinks you guys are going to act like she’s a porcelain doll now,” Rayne said with an eye roll as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

Brian continued on his way outside to smoke, and Aiyana watched him go, wishing at that moment that she still smoked too.

“Well, she IS breakable,” Zack exclaimed back to his girlfriend, stepping back from Aiyana and putting his hands in his pockets like a kid in a china shop.

“So are you, babe,” Rayne smiled over at him, being overly sweet with her words.

“No I’m not. I’m not one of those toys that you press the bottom of their platform and they collapse. She is,” he said in defense.

Laughing, Aiyana turned around, and was about to inform him just how broken she would make him if he didn’t cut it out when Matt spoke up from beside her.

“Nah, man. She may be breakable, but I’m telling you, she’s tougher than you think,” he said with a nod to the other man and a wink.

“How would you know,” Zacky began, pausing a moment as the light bulb went off before finishing, “ooooooooh!”

Aiyana’s cheeks turned bright red as she remembered just why he would know that, and she quickly ducked outside to Brian. Walking over to him, she placed her forehead on his chest and groaned loudly in irritation at the guys still in the kitchen.

Brian chuckled and kissed the back of her head before taking another drag off his cigarette. Aiyana reached her hands into his front pockets, looking for his cigarettes. After what Matt had said, she was going to have one, she’d decided.

“Stop that, and use your own pockets, even if they’re too shallow,” he chuckled.

Wrapping her hands around his lighter and pack, she stood back up victoriously brandishing his Marlboro’s and pulled a long white cancer stick from the pack. Brian just looked at her with an eyebrow arched high in question as she lit it and then put his pack back into his pocket, slipping his lighter into her delectable cleavage.

“Alright, so one, that’s my lighter,” he said, holding a hand out for it back, “and two, I thought you quit smoking a year ago.”

“I did, but Matt just let everyone in that kitchen know that I can take a pounding and not break,” she replied as she exhaled the cloud of white smoke.

Brian laughed loudly, and pulled her back to him so that their pelvis’ were touching as he spoke, his long tattooed fingertips dipping into her cleavage after his lighter “don’t worry about it, babe. They already knew.”

“My dad didn’t,” she stated matter-of-factly, and took another drag.

Brian tried not to laugh, and took a drag off his own cigarette, his lips twisting into a huge smirk.

“He does now,” he said quickly before a snicker slid from his lips, his fingers sliding out of her shirt with his lighter.

Aiyana groaned and moved out of his grasp so she could lean back against the house with Brian, finishing her cigarette in silence. There were some things a father just shouldn’t know, she thought to herself.

“Let’s head back home, and ditch the others” Brian grinned, wiggling his eyebrows as he passed her, entering the house, “I need to retest your breakability.”

Comedians. She was surrounded by fucking comedians. Aiyana groaned and followed him, hanging her head until she stepped into the kitchen. Once inside, she wrapped her arms around her father and hugged him tightly.

“Bye, daddy. I’ll see you at the wedding,” she told him, kissing his cheek lightly.

“That you will, My Little Blossom,” he smiled at her, kissing her cheek as he hugged her close. “Don’t let him break you, or I’ll kick his ass.”

Notes
