Eternal Blossom

Pockets and Pot

Aiyana watched as Matt left the bathroom, and stared at the empty doorway for a few minutes from under the spray of the shower until she forced herself to start showering again.

She showered slowly, enjoying the warm water’s embrace because that was the only warm embrace she figured she was going to enjoy that night.

As she finally got out of the shower about 30 minutes later, she wrapped a towel around herself, thinking about what happened. Was he with Kristy those days she hadn’t heard from him? Why was he talking to his ex while he was supposed to be enjoying his time with her? Did Matt still have feelings for his ex? Why didn’t she stop him and tell him that she didn’t want him to go because she liked him and liked spending time with him?

She scoffed at her own runaway mental train as she ran a brush through her hair. She at least knew why she didn’t speak up. She wanted him to stay of his own volition and not because he felt compelled by her words to do so.

Finally making her way to her bedroom, she paused in the hallway and turned around when she heard a wolf whistle behind her, a smile pulling at her lips. He had stayed! He wanted to be there!

As soon as her eyes met brown instead of hazel though, the smile fell from her face.

“I didn’t cook you dinner, and I’m still not planning on it, Gates.” She spun on her heel and stalked to her room to put some clothes on.

Gates chuckled to himself at her reaction. Her walking out of the bathroom in the towel had made his heart start to race. He was glad that Matt had let him in as he left. They’d stood on the front porch talking about why the two had run into one another. Matt had decided to clear his head so he could think about what he really wanted, and was heading home. Brian had realized that his stage persona wasn’t winning him any bonus points, and was there to apologize for the way he’d been acting.

Brian enjoyed her company, and the kiss between them had been nagging at him in that butterfly in the stomach kind of way. He had to know what that was about, but he should have known that Aiyana wouldn’t fall into his arms just because of his womanizer charm.

He’d decided to make amends and had brought dinner to her in the form of Jack In The Box cheeseburgers, fries, and Dr. Pepper. A little bird had told him that it was one of Aiyana’s favorite’s.

When she came back down the hallway, he smiled at her after taking in her fuzzy black sleep pants and grey tank top. She looked comfortable and the glasses that she had traded her contacts out for gave her a naughty librarian look that had his mind reeling with scenarios.

“I brought you dinner, actually. I figured I’d come clear the air,” he said to her sheepishly.

Arching an eyebrow at him, she saw the Jack In The Box on her coffee table, and a smile began to tug at one corner of her mouth. She wasn’t too sure what to think at that moment with his comment, but she was now willing to hear him out.

Aiyana sat down on the couch and pointed at one of the cups. “Is that what I think it is?”

He laughed and handed it to her, “Dr. Pepper. I know your weakness for the disgusting stuff.”

The smile took over as she thanked him for the cup and took a long sip. Dancing a little in her seat, she finally put the cup down and turned to look at him.

“So, why were you acting like a super douche,” she asked.

“Wow. Um. Way to cut to the chase, Aiyana,” he stated as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I guess I thought I’d get what I wanted if I gave you the ‘ol Synyster Gates charm.”

When she didn’t respond beyond a confused look on her face, he cleared his throat and tried again, “You’re a beautiful woman, Aiyana. And, that kiss was something else. I kinda wanted more.”

Her face fell into comprehension before she laughed, and slapped at his knee. “Wait, wait, wait. You mean that shit actually works on women?!” She continued to laugh, tears sliding down her face. God it felt good to laugh after such an emotional roller coaster of a day.

Brian finally began to laugh a little too, resting his hand over hers that was still on his knee.
“You’d be surprised just how well it works.” As she stopped laughing, he smiled at her, and ran his hand over hers softly. “On women that aren’t you, I guess,” he added as an afterthought.

She liked that he could laugh at himself, and acknowledge when he had messed up. Maybe the guy she’d spent time with at La Choza was still under there somewhere, she thought to herself.

They looked at each other for a moment before Aiyana cleared her throat and pulled her hand out from under Brian’s to grab for the bags of food.

“Alright, so is it dinner and a movie? You brought my favorite food, so it’s your choice for the movie.” She placed the bags between them and grabbed the remote that had been under the bags before handing it to him.

Brian looked at her, a little surprised that she was so easy to forgive him after how mad she had been earlier that day. He gave her his infamous smirk, and took the remote from her hand.

“Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” he said as he watched her face for the reaction she would give. He knew people either loved the movie or hated it. It had always been one of his personal favorites.

She just shrugged and opened the bags with a quick, “If that’s what you want to watch, and it’s on Netflix or something. I don’t own it.”

He gaped at her, “Damn, woman! And here I thought you were cool!” He spoke in a high pitched, playful voice.

She laughed and looked up at him from where she had begun taking the food out. “I love Depp, and the movie itself is pretty good. My problem is it always makes me feel a little stoned. Of course, that may be because I’ve only ever watched it while stoned.” She winked at him, and held out both burgers to him so he could pick the one he wanted first.

Brian picked one and grabbed a container of fries. “Now I’m wishing I’d brought some pot,” he chuckled.

“I have some. Do you prefer it in a bowl or rolled?” She opened up the burger left and took a bite after making the statement.

His smirk was back in place, “Rolled, since you’re offering.”

She swallowed and gestured at him with a fry. “I’ll share, but if you hog it, I’ll kick your ass,
Gates,” she told him with a big grin.

He leaned over and took a bite of the fry she had been gesturing with, which in turn made her laugh before feeding him the rest of it. They ate the rest of their meal, talking about what they’d been up to since they last saw each other.

Once done, she began to gather the trash. He stood up and took it from her once it was done, and turned towards the kitchen, assuming he’d find the trash can once he got there.

Aiyana followed him to the kitchen to grab her medication, and took it before pulling over a stool to climb onto so she could get her pot from on top of the fridge.

Gates watched this all, laughing softly. “So, tell me why you put stuff up there if you’re too short to reach it.” He saw her take her meds, but didn’t think much of it in comparison to her climbing things to get to a little cannabis.

She looked down at him from her perch, holding the tin can she kept her weed in above her head in victory. “Well, because I have little cousins that come to visit unexpectedly. I don’t want them to get ahold of my pot.” She climbed back down, accepting his hand that he held out to aid in her descent.

She took off for the living room, and sat on the couch with the tin in her lap. Brian sat beside her and quickly found Fear and Loathing on Starz once he signed in through his own account since she didn’t have it.

He watched her roll it, and then look around for something to light it with. Smiling, he pulled his lighter out of his pocket and handed it to her.

“I guess having a smoker around comes in handy,” she sighed as she exhaled the first drag. “Mine is all the way back in the bedroom.”

He accepted the joint and took a drag himself, holding his free hand out for his lighter. He’d been around smokers too long, and knew that the most stolen item was a good lighter.

She smiled and forked it over after pulling it back out from where she’d hidden it in her cleavage. He chuckled when she pulled it out, and raised an eyebrow.

“Speaking of items hid in great tits,” he winked at her before taking another hit. “What is it with you women? Can’t you put things in pockets where they belong? I mean, not that I’m complaining, as it gave me a great view, but I constantly see women pulling things out of their cleavage.”

She laughed, and covered her chest with one hand as she accepted the joint back. She hadn’t thought of it that way before, but he had a point. Thinking about it as she took a puff, she finally turned to him and dropped the hand previously covering her chest to her lap as she finally felt her muscles begin to relax under the influence of the sweet Mary Jane.

“I guess it’s because our pockets are tiny and ineffectual. “ When she was met only with a comically arched eyebrow, she continued, nodding along to her own point. “I’m serious! Think about it. Women have these tiny little pockets sewn into their pants while men have huge, deep caverns they can store things in. Shit, even toddler clothing has bigger pockets than women’s jeans!”

His eyes went back to her cleavage when her hand dropped before raising to her face as he thought about what she was saying. “I guess I wouldn’t know. I’ve never worn women’s jeans.”

“Well come on. I’ll show you.” She stood up and took another drag before handing him back the joint.

He took it, and felt her hand latch onto his other one as she drug him down the hallway to her bedroom. Arching an eyebrow as they rounded the corner into the room, he took in her bedroom before turning his attention back to the woman pulling him behind her.

She let his hand go at the foot of her bed , walking to the closet, and she returned to him with a pair of her jeans. Once in front of him again, she held the jeans out to him and motioned for him to trade her the joint for the jeans.

He looked from them to her, and chuckled before speaking in a fake overly deep, manly voice, “This isn’t what I thought you meant when you said you were going to get me into your pants.”

She laughed and shook her head. He couldn’t help but enjoy the sound of her musical laughter. It made him smile to know that he was the one to cause it. Taking one last drag, he traded her and stuck his hand into the front pocket, surprised when only the first 2 joints of his fingers disappeared before he was met with the end of the pocket.

“Well. I guess that does explain it, then,” he told her before putting the jeans on the bed and holding his own pocket open. “Want to feel how deep mine are,” he asked her with a wiggle of his eyebrows.

She called his bluff, and stuck her hand in all the way up to the wrist, squeezing his thigh as she looked him in the eye.

His eyes widened when her hand squeezed his thigh, but he recovered quickly as he wiggled his hips a little. “Oh, baby,” he exclaimed playfully.

Her hand squeezed again and they both doubled over in laughter.
