A Little Too Late
One
Dear James,
I know this is probably unexpected, but just know I am not the person that I put on the front of the envelope. My name is not Alicia Stone. That name belonged to my mother. My name is Jaycee Marie.
I'm writing to you because my mother has passed away. Right, you probably don't even remember her. You two dated in high school. Ringing a bell now? Anyway, she left me some things in her passing. One of which was your last known address and my birth certificate, which I sent a copy of. I'm your daughter. I was born sixteen, all or seventeen, years ago on July 17th.
A major bombshell, huh? At least, I like to think that it is. Anyway, I'm only writing you to let you know I exist. Do with that information what you will. If you're not interested in knowing me, I'll return the favor.
Your's truly,
Jaycee Marie Sullivan

Jimmy read the words carefully, over and over again. He was unable to wrap his head around what the letter said, even as he pulled out the notorized copy of the birth certificate. His first thought was that it was a wild fan wanting money. But, the more he thought about it, the less it made any sense. The letter wasn't even sent to his house. It was sent to his parent's. The girl also addressed him as James, when most fans knew he preferred Jimmy and that his stage name was 'The Rev'. Plus, she stared if he didn't want to know her, then she didn't want to know him. But, that could also be the trap. Make him think they know nothing about him when they really do.
Sighing to himself, he got up and grabbed a piece of paper. Was he really about to write this girl back? What if it all was just a trick?
Part of him knew he shouldn't, but another told him that if he didn't get to know her and she was actually his, then he would regret it. Fuck it, he thought to himself, here goes nothing.
