Keeping us Safe

Friday came by quick, quicker than I thought. I woke up to my alarm, I threw on my black and blue scrubs and made my way out to my car.
"Have a good day at work." Jimmy said as he saw me scurrying to my car as we was walking Prince.
I smiled and waved at him before taking off towards the Clinic, when I walked in I looked around.
"Hello gorgeous!" Caleb yelled hugging me
"Hey." I smiled
"You better love me big time." She said
"Why?" I asked
"Marty wasn't going to let you be a tech because you're overqualified and we didn't need another vet. I had a nice talk with him." She smiled
"I owe you." I said
"Yes you do." She laughed.
I smiled at her and she linked her arm with mine.
"Let me show you around." She said
"I like this place because it was animals that walk around." I said
She smiled
"This cats name is Oliver, someone just dropped him off here after he got hit by a car. We had to remove his right eye and he was in a cast. But he's very sweet." She said
I was about to say something when I saw the cutest kitten.
"Who is this baby?" I asked picking her up
She was a brown tabby cat.
"She was in a carrier outside the doors when I got here, I brought her in. She's only two months old." She said
"Does she have a name?" I asked
She shook her head.
"She looks like a Charlie." I smiled
"I like it. Hi Charlie." She said petting her.
The work day went pretty well, I met everyone and I think they like me. The highlight of my day was Charlie, she's so precious.
"So I'm going to follow you home, you're going to get your stuff and then follow me home." Caleb said as we closed down
I nodded and Charlie came running to me.
"Bye baby girl." I said kissing her nose
"Charlie really likes you Grace." She said
I smiled and got into my car, she followed to my house.
"You can come in, it'll take me a minute to find it." I said
She nodded and we went in, I walked to my room and started digging through my closet.
"I love your house!" She yelled
"Thank you!" I yelled back
I smiled and found my costume and put it in a book bag along with clothes for before the party and the day after, my phone charger and makeup along with hair stuff. I zipped my bag and walked downstairs. Caleb was standing by my TV looking at the American Flag case that holds the flag from Lucan's casket from the funeral.
"He's beautiful." She said looking at Lucan's picture
"I miss him." I said
"The dog tags you wear, they're his aren't they?" She asked
"Yeah, this was his house." I said
"What's his name?" She asked focused on the picture of him and me posing sillily on the Great Wall of China.
"Lucan." I smiled
"Your wrist tattoo. I noticed that today. This is your brother." She said
"Yeah, the best big brother." I said
"He seems like it. I wish I could have met him." She said looking at me
"You would have loved him. I've got so many stories, he was a lot like Jimmy." I said
"Oh gosh. I'm going to have to hear some of those. Let's get headed to my house. You cool with sleeping in the guest bedroom?" She asked
"Yes." I laughed
"Let's go." She smiled doing a dance.
I locked the door behind us and followed her to her house. When we pulled in Matt stood outside waiting.
"Hi Mattie." I said throwing my arms around his neck
"Missed you kiddo. How was work girls?" He asked
We walked in and the house was beautiful.
"Work was good. We got a new kitten today, she's about two months." Caleb said
"Someone just leave her there?" Matt asked
"Yeah. Grace named her Charlie." She said
Matt smiled at me
"Are you going to bring her home too?" Matt asked
"Too as in as well. Do you have a cat?" I asked
"We have three cats and a dog. All from the vet’s office." Matt said
"Awh. What kind of dog?" I asked
"Yellow lab, her name is Bella. Our cats are Jack, Austin and Bear." Caleb said
"Bear?" I asked
"He's one of those large cats. He's not fat he's just abnormally large." Matt said
I nodded and then I think Bear came out of the other room
"That's him." Matt said
I walked over and knelt down, he walked over to me and I picked him up.
"Wow he likes you better than me." Caleb said
Bear cuddled into my hair.
"He's so big." I said
"He normally doesn't like to be held. Are you the cat whisperer?" Matt asked
"Now you know my secret." I said
He smiled and Caleb showed me the guest bedroom. I carried Bear around the house.
"He'll probably sleep with you up here. He's cuddly at night." She said
"Thanks for letting me stay." I said
"No problem. You look dead baby g." She said
"I'm a little over tired." I said
"Go to sleep. You hungry?" She asked
"No, not really. I think I'll get some sleep, long day tomorrow." I said
She nodded and walked out of the room closing the door. I set Bear on the bed and pulled my scrubs off, I changed into a black sports bra and red basketball shorts. I laid down and Bear came over to me and laid by my chest. I squeezed the dog tags and kissed the cats head.
"Night Lucan." I said
Caleb came and woke me up the next morning, I felt weight on my chest. I opened my eyes and Bear was laying on top of me.
"He's weird. You aren't naked are you?" She asked
I looked up at her and he had on a green sports bra and black basketball shorts.
"No I'm wearing what you are." I said "Am I allowed downstairs like this?" I asked
"Duh." She said
"Can you get your monster off of me?" I asked
She laughed and picked Bear up placing him on the floor. She pulled me out of bed and dragged me downstairs.
"I woke it." Caleb said when we reached downstairs
Matt laughed and I heard laughter from another room.
"Who else is here?" I asked
"Brian." She said
I snarled my lip.
"Matt told me about what he did." She said
I nodded.
"Is he always like that?" I asked
She nodded and pulled me away
"He's actually pretty lonely, I've been trying to find someone to hook him up with for a little bit to get him on his feet." She said
"Oh." I said
"He's been single for a long time. He was single when I met Matt a few years ago. He's had a few girls that he just slept with but that's it." She said
I nodded.
"Want breakfast?" She asked
"Can I help cook it?" I asked
"If you'd like." She said
I smiled, and she walked me to the kitchen.
"Ow ow." Brian said as we entered the kitchen
"Shut up porcupine." I said
He glared at me
"I wouldn't glare at the one making your breakfast." Caleb said
Brian just looked away
"Brian you just need to calm down." Matt said
"I'm calm." He said
Caleb pulled me into the kitchen and we started making breakfast.
"So are you going to help up finish decorating?" She asked
"I love to decorate." I smiled
She smiled at me
"You're going to meet my older brother and little sister today." She said
"Do they have names?" I asked
"Nothing as cool as the name Lucan. My brother is Vincent and my sister is Monica." She said
"That's Lucan's middle." I said
"Vincent?" She asked
I nodded
"Lucan Vincent Shepard is a pretty bad ass name." She said
I smiled
"Caleb Elizabeth Richmond, Vincent Allen, Monica Renee." She said
"I love your middle name. Mines Harmony." I said
"Grace Harmony?" She asked
"Something like that." I smirked
I didn't want people to know my real first name. She smiled at me and we finished breakfast, we sat down to eat with Brian across from me.
"So Grace are you ready to get absolutely smashed?" Brian asked
"As long as someone keeps you away from me." I said
"Jimmy will do that." Matt said
I smiled
When breakfast was over I changed into a green t-Shirt and a pair of shorts. Caleb and I decorated the living room very halloweenish and the boys did the front yard, it was weaning close to the time for the party to start and I was in the guest room just getting out of the shower when I heard yelling. I threw on my old clothes and rushed downstairs
"Brian!" Caleb was yelling
He just looked up at her
"Just go get the booze." Matt said
"I don't want to get up." Brian said
"You have to fucking get up to go home and change anyways!" Caleb whined
"Why don't you get the booze?" He asked her
"It's my house, it's my party. You said you'd do it weeks ago!" She yelled
"I've changed my mind." He said
Their cat Jack started meowing at her feet
"Its okay baby boy, mommy is here." She said picking him up
"You like that cat more than Matt. What happens when Matt leaves you?" Brian asked
What the fuck was his issue?
"Boys are temporary, cats are forever." She smiled "Now go get the damn alcohol." She said
He shrugged
"BRIAN I WILL PENETRATE YOUR ANAL CAVITY WITH A HEDGE TRIMMER IF YOU DONT GET YOU ASS UP AND GO BUY ALCOHOL!" She yelled stomping her foot
I held in my laughter as Brian skedaddled out the door
"Quite a show." I smiled
She stuck her tongue out at me
"Boys are temporary, cats are forever?" Matt asked
"Matt you know I love you." She said
He kissed her forehead and walked away.
"I forgot to ask. How much skin does your costume show?" She asked
"A lot." I said
"Yay." She said clapping her hands
I just gave her a look.
"I want Jimmy drooling." She laughed when I knew my face was tomato red.
"Oh angry bear I'm home!" Brian said walking into the house empty handed but his costume in hand
"Gates." Caleb growled
I lifted a skeptical eyebrow at him
"I sent you out for one fucking simple thing, you love to drink why can't you just buy the damn shit! I don't have fucking time for this!" Caleb squealed
Brian just stood there
"Porcupine where's it at, I can tell by that shit eating grin." I said
"I don't know what you're talking about new girl." He said
I squinted my eyes at him
"What's with all the booze on the porch!? Those a precious and need to be inside." Johnny yelled from behind Brian.
I just gave Brian a look, Caleb walked up to him and slapped him in the back of the head, his hand shot up to the impact area and rubbed it.
"Ouch bitch." He said
Johnny walked in carrying some boozes.
"Thanks Christ." Matt said
"Syn causing you problems?" Jimmy asked hitting Brian on the way in the house.
He was carrying a bag and I could see the fluorescent orange through it, I smiled over at Caleb.
"Where is Vengeance?" Matt asked
"He's picking up Allyson." Johnny said
I just looked around
"Allyson is his girlfriend." Caleb said
I nodded at her and Jimmy came over and hugged me
"How is my favorite Grace?" He asked
"Alright. Excited." I said
"You'll have a lot of fun." He said
"So let's get rolling, people will be here soon." Caleb said
"I love the decoration." Jimmy said
"Thanks. Grace helped out at lot." She said
I smiled at her and Jimmy, Johnny disappeared with the guys and they changed into their costumes.
"We'll help you Matt with your makeup." Caleb said
"WHO SWITCHED THIS? THIS ISN'T FUNNY!" Johnny screamed from the basement.
I looked at Caleb and she started laughing, Johnny came up dressed as Dopey; one of the seven dwarfs. I slapped my hand to my mouth and laughed.
"Caleb did you do this?" He asked her tapping his foot
"Nooooo. I don't know who could have done that." She laughed
"I hate you." He said
"Wait for it." She said
"Caleb Elizabeth!" Zacky screeched coming into the house as Grumpy.
I pursed my lips trying to stifle my laughter, it didn't work so well. A girl walked in behind him, I was guessing that it was Allyson. She was dressed as Snow White, she looked good.
"There is my other dwarf!" She shouted upon seeing Johnny.
"Lick my nads Allyson." Johnny said
"How about no." She smiled
I laughed
"Well hello beautifuls." She said walking over to Caleb and me
"Allyson Tate." She said to me
"Grace Shepard." I smiled
She pulled me into a hug and then hugged Caleb.
We helped Matt with his makeup and then Caleb and I went upstairs to change. I let my hair stay wavy and I did a blue and black smoky eye with a red lip as my makeup. I stripped down and looked over at Caleb who was doing some bow on the top of her head with her hair. She did a really cool red and black makeup, and lip. She was being Harley Quinn. I pulled up the tight mini skirt, I clicked the handcuffs closed on it and looked Caleb. She was pulling in a red and black corset and having trouble with it.
"Hep, hep." She said
I walked over and helped her pull it over her hips.
"Don't tie it to tight gots to protect the merchandise." She said patting her stomach
"You and Matt get married next month right?" I asked
"In two weeks we changed it so I wouldn't be big time showing in my wedding dress." She said
I smiled and loosely tied the corset. I pulled on my top that stop right below my bust line.
"That belly ring does not go." She said
"I brought a pretty handcuff one to change it into." I said
"I see. This costume is sexy as fuck. Jim is going to be drooling." She said
I changed my belly ring.
"I'll meet you down stairs." She said as she finished with her costume.
Her bottoms were a short skirt that was red and black and basically a tutu. Her shoes were knee high red heeled boots. I sat down and pulled on my shoes, they were glossy black strappy six inch heels. I pulled my police hat on my head and looked in the mirror. I left the sun glasses up here and put my air-soft gun in the holster on my hip.
"Grace come on!" Caleb shouted
I left her bedroom and looked down the stairs, her and all the guys were waiting on me, I walked down and winked at Jimmy as his jaw dropped
"Damn." Brian said
I pushed Jimmy's jaw up and walked to Caleb.
"Would you like a shot if tequila my dear?" She asked
"She's not a drinker give her a beer." Brian said
"Listen here Haner. You don't know who I am so don't talk down to me about things." I said
Caleb handed me the shot of pure tequila and I downed it.
"I've been drinking since I was fifteen." I said with a stern glare.
The party went on and I was a bit tipsy when someone came up a grabbed my hips, I didn't care who it was.
"Grace." Caleb said walking up to me
"Hi!" I yelled
"With me." She said
I nodded and she pulled my hand and pulled me away, I looked back and I had been dancing with Brian.
"You saved me!" I yelled
"How aren't you smashed?" She asked
"I told you, I've been drinking since I was fifteen." I said
"Here drink for me." She smiled handing me a shot of Jack.
I took it and smiled at her.
"How well do those handcuffs work?" She asked
"They're real police cuffs, the keys are in my bag." I said
"Can you handcuff Jimmy to something? He's being overly drunk." She asked
I nodded
"How do I get him upstairs? I'll cuff him to the bed." I said
"It won't be hard to get his drunk ass upstairs." She said
I nodded taking another shot and then pushing my way through the crowd of people. I found Jimmy dancing with a girl dressed as a nurse. Her costume looked like mine but it was a nurse one clearly. Jealousy consumed me, I walked over to him and grabbed his hand.
"Heyyyyyy." He said
"Want to come upstairs with me?" I asked
The girl in the nurse glared at me
"Fuck yes." He said
I pulled his hand and we went upstairs, I opened the guest bedroom door and he yanked me in closing the door. I pushed him down onto the bed and he pulled me on top of him.
"Use your handcuffs." He smiled
I bit my lip and got off of him and walked over to my bag and got the key, I undid them from my skirt and walked over to him, I weaved the cuffs through the headboard and cuffed him.
"I'll see you later." I laughed sticking the key in my bra.
"What?!" He squealed
"Calm down and I'll come get you in a little bit." I winked
He struggled at the cuffs
"They're real police cuffs Jim." I said as I closed the door.
"He's restrained." I said to Caleb
"I wanted you to meet my brother but he's to hammered right now. Tomorrow then." She said
I smiled.
I walked away and I partied hard.
