My Second Heartbeat

Chapter Two: We Come Out At Night

Later that evening, I was staring at myself in the mirror in utter disbelief. Thinking back to earlier that day, I was convinced I fell asleep on that swinging bench outside and the whole encounter was a dream.

...I've always wanted to do that to a pretty girl...and you're just the girl to do it to….” Icould still hear his deep voice say the words. I held my hand up to my chest, still feeling where his lips pressed against my knuckles in a gentlemanly fashion. Sighing, and then blushing from the thought, I yanked my hand away and shook my head.

“Pull it together. He is just a boy. This isn't a date. I can maybe make some new friends here.” I sighed again. Looking over at the clothes I had unpacked.

I literally have NOTHING to wear tonight..,” thinking to myself. Just then, it was like a light bulb went off in my head as I spotted just what to wear.

I slipped on my black lacey hiphugger panties and matching push up bra (as I was not as chestically blessed), admiring myself in the mirror. My skin was smooth and had a fading, light tan. Next, I put on my ripped fishnet stockings and then my faded jean short shorts with fringe. I then put on my favorite Pantera cut off tee. I even made a cut in the collar to make a deep v-cut so I could show off my boobs. To finish the outfit, I put my black Doc Martens and choker necklace on. Checking the clock and realizing it was already getting late, I panicked. I hurriedly put some light makeup on and sprayed myself with some nice perfume. Taking a deep breath, I checked myself over in the mirror.

This will have to do..." I thought to myself as I headed out my bedroom door and found my mom unpacking in the living room.

" Mom, can I borrow the car tonight? I finished unpacking my room and I wanted to get out and explore a little.” I asked with a sweet smile.

My mom looked me over and hesitated. " I don't know..."

“Please, mom? I promise I will be good and won't be out too late.” I then gave her the puppy dog eyes that she could not resist.

“Oh, alright. BUT, you better be home by midnight and I mean it. Or no car for a week!" She said as she pulled the keys out of her pocket.

" Yay! I will! I promise!" I said excitedly. I ran over, grabbed the keys and kissed my mom's cheek. “Be back later!" I went out the door and practically ran to the car.

|•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••|

I managed to make my way to Johnny's Bar and surprisingly, it was only a couple blocks away. I parked the car, took a deep breath and headed toward the door. I pulled open the heavy, red, padded door and was instantly hit with the smell of stale cigarettes and booze. I looked around and saw a lot of people standing around with drinks in hand talking loudly to each other, some were playing pool, and some just looked sad and lonely at the bar.

I walked in, trying to remain calm and act confidently. I looked over at the bar and saw a medium height , very tan and beautiful woman bartending. She was eyeing me with a very stern look on her face. I gulped and started to worry. I was 17 after all and in a bar. The woman then waved me over to her.

Nervously, I headed to the bar towards her. “You called me over?" I practically shouted over the loud music and conversation.

“Yeah, I did." She shouted back. “Are you old enough to be in here?” She eyed me suspiciously and waited for my answer.

I bit my lip and reluctantly started to answer. “Actually, I-" Just then, a warm arm wrapped around my shoulders and squeezed gently.

" Actually, Aunt Crissy, she's with us." I looked up and saw that Matt had his arm around me. I blushed and looked back at Crissy. " Yeah, I did come here to meet them"

She stared us both down. “Okay," she filled a glass with coke and leaned in close to hand it to me, “but since you're underage, I can't be serving you alcohol when we're this busy. Hope you understand.”

I nodded my head. " Absolutely, ma’am. I can't tonight anyway since I drove here.”

She looked impressed. "Smart girl! And you can call me Crissy, hun. What's your name?” She smiled sweetly at me.

" Aurora, but you can call me Rori for short.” I smiled back at her.

" Pleasure meeting you, Aurora! Now, go have fun y'all. I have customers to tend to. Oh! And you, Brian and Jimmy better behave, Matt. I mean it.” Her face was stern again.

Matt smiled matter of factly and saluted Crissy. " Yes ma'am.” He directed me in the opposite direction. “We're in the booth over here next to the pool table."

I smiled up at him, he was so tall that he practically towered me. “I get the feeling that you are nothing but trouble.” I said teasingly.

I could see a fire in his eyes as he whispered close to me, “Rori, you really have no idea... especially when you are looking like that..." And then he flashed this devilish smile that made my heart skip a beat.

We reached the booth and pool table to see four teenage boys. Two we're playing pool and the other two were in the booth heckling the other two. One of the boys at the pool table was very tall and skinny. He was wearing a kimono and glasses with his bleached hair spiked up in a crazy fashion. The other boy was Brian and he was muscular and shorter in comparison. He had his black hair pushed back and his ears were pierced a couple times. One boy in the booth had bright green eyes, snake bites and spiked up black hair. The other boy was obviously shorter and had longer black hair with this big soul patch. They were all wearing black with various band shirts.

“Guys, this is Aurora. She's new here and you guys better behave yourselves.” Matt warned them.
They all turned and stared at me. Brian had already met me, but the other three’s mouths dropped.

Snakebites jumped up and came over to me. “I'm Zacky. It is very nice to meet you, Aurora." He looked me over and fidgeted with one of his piercings.

“Nice to meet you too, Zacky!" I smiled at him nervously.

Kimono was next to greet me. “Greetings, Aurora! I'm Jimmy! Glad you could join us!" He exclaimed. Next thing I know he is grabbing me into a bear hug and picking me up in his arms.

“Oh, oh wow. Can you, uh, please put me down, Jimmy? It's nice to meet you too.”

“Knock it off, Jimmy. You're gonna scare her off. Sorry about that, Rori. He's just overly affectionate.” Matt said apologetically as Jimmy set me down.

" It's okay, I'm good. Just caught me off guard is all." I chuckled a bit.

“Short shit, aren't you going to say hi to the pretty lady?” Matt teased the guy with the soul patch.

Soul patch stood up and he really lived up to his nickname. He looked shorter than me. “Holy shit! You really are short!" I exclaimed and immediately covered my mouth and turned bright red. " I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to be so rude."

The other guys erupted with laughter and he just looked at me a moment. Finally he said, “It's okay, Aurora. I'm used to it because of the guys. No worries. I'm Johnny. It's great to meet you.” He offered a gentle smile and I couldn't help but smile back.

“Matt's been talking about you for hours and I'm beginning to see why, Rori…” Zacky said with a wicked grin that made me blush hard.

Matt growled under his breath and stepped between us, staring Zacky down. “Can you please stop?”

Zacky held up his hands. " We're cool, Matt. I was just teasing. We good?"

“We're good. Now, can we get a drink?” Matt looked to me for an answer.

" Um, I'm driving home. So, no more than one drink. I'll have a jack and coke, please.” I said with a shy smile.

Matt raised an eyebrow at me. “Really?"

“Yeah?" I said confused.

“Can you get anymore perfect?" Matt said with a huge dimpled smile.

“I guess you'll have to find out, Matthew." I said teasingly as I sauntered over the bar.

Matt chased me and swatted my ass. My face turned bright red. “MATTHEW!" Crissy yelled.

“Aunt Crissy, we were just playing. Calm down.” Matt pleaded.

" Matthew, you treat women with respect. I know your parents raised you better and I sure as hell didn't raise you that way either. You will respect women in this bar or you and your friends are not welcome. Do you understand?” Crissy whispered angrily.

" Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry.” Matt said politely.

Crissy cleared her throat and gestured towards me. Matt turned sheepishly and said, “Aurora, I'm sorry I smacked your ass. It was rude and I hope you can forgive me.”

" Of course. You're such a sweetie. Crissy, you're doing a good job with him.” I said as I hugged his arm.

" Good. And thank you, love. He's definitely a tough one to raise. That's why it takes the 3 of us to do it. The bar traffic has slowed a bit. Can I get you some drinks?”

" 6 Jack and cokes for me and my friends.” Matt said nonchalantly.

Crissy raised an eyebrow as she began pouring the drinks. We thanked her and carefully carried the drinks back to the booth.

“Sanders, heard you got yelled at. Smacking this fine girl's ass. How dare you?” Brian said mockingly.

Matt rolled his eyes. “Shut up and drink or I'll drink yours."

We all laughed and began sipping our Jack and cokes. Letting the alcohol warm our bellies and as the night went on, we were constantly cracking on each other and having a good time. I even beat Matt at pool, but I'm convinced that he let me win. Before we knew it, it was almost midnight and I had to leave.

“Ah shit, it's almost midnight!" I said as I looked at the clock.

" And?” Brian said as he took another drink.

“I have to go. My mom set a curfew and if I'm not home in time, she won't let me borrow the car. Ya feel me?” I snapped back.

They all nodded that they understood. Matt and I scooched out of the booth and I said my goodbyes to the boys.

“Let me walk you to your car, Rori." Matt said as he put his hand on my back to lead me to the exit.

As we got outside and walked across the parking lot, I kept looking at him. He looked down at me and chuckled. “Yes?"

I smiled up at him. “I was just thinking. You know how you asked me earlier if I could be anymore perfect?”

Matt smiled to himself. " Yeah?”

“Well, I was thinking the same about you. It was like you read my mind. You literally are so sweet, charming, and sexy as all hell. And normally, I wouldn't have the balls to say these things, but you make me so comfortable. How is this even possible?” We stopped at my car and I fidgeted with the car keys, staring at my feet.

Matt lifted my chin up with his index finger and thumb and looked me deep in the eyes. “Aurora, I don't say this lightly. When I saw you earlier, I had this feeling in my gut. And then I heard you singing Metallica and I swear, I fell in love with you. And the more I get to know you, the harder it feels like I'm falling.” Matt said softly, he watched my face for a reaction. I could feel my cheeks turning red and my heart was racing.

I smiled up at him. “How do you read my mind?" I whispered. Matt flashed his dimpled smile that I love so much, leaned down and kissed me softly.

He pulled away slowly. “When can I see you again, Rori? I don't want this night to end..."

I wrapped my arms around him. "Tomorrow if you want. I would love to see you." I bit my bottom lip and I saw the spark in Matt's eyes.

" It's a date then." He kissed me one more time and hugged me tight.

I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear the entire ride home. “I'm beginning to love it here..."
