Pack your stuff, Leave my keys, Get your shit, Gotta go

"I'm not like the others. I won't do that to you." Zack had heard that so many times. It was a never ending cycle with women it seemed. The ones that he let into his life anyway. It was hard finding someone that could take him and all his flaws, along with his mess of a past. He thought he had, when she hit him with something that he couldn't forgive her for.

"Get out." he said quietly as he let his head fall. Gena had started to speak when he cut her off. "I said get out." he said with a little louder tone this time. He raised his head up to look at her. Tears were begging to fall.

Gena looked at him with sorrowful eyes, but didn't say anything else, she turned with a sigh and walked up the stairs, slamming the bedroom door behind her. Zack stood there, letting out a sigh, allowing the tears to fall, before slamming his hands onto the marble countertop.

He had spent over 11 years with her; Married for almost two. He didn't expect this. In a sense he should have. She had gotten into doing live cam shows, trying to break into the porn industry. Zack never wanted to be married to a porn star. That much he was sure of. There was no telling how much money he had sank into her over the past several months, logging on under some screen name and cashing out so no one else would see her naked. That alone should have been a red flag, but cheating?... He shook the thoughts from his head as she made her way back downstairs with a suitcase.

She stopped at the entrance of the kitchen, looking over at him. He tried not to make eye contact and let her know that he had been crying. "I'll be back after the rest of my things." she said with a sniffle. He could tell that she had been crying, but didn't care. She had hurt herself. "I'm really sorry, Zack."

Zack didn't say anything or make any gestures, he just stared at the counter top. He heard her sigh once again, before making her way out. He heard the door close and the tears started again. He had been played for a fool and it hurt him more than the act of cheating in itself. He was good to her and he didn't understand why she would have a reason to stray. Maybe it's just who she was.

He looked at the clock on the stove. It was '6:45' in the evening and he didn't want to spend this night in the house alone thinking about what had happened. He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone unlocking the screen. The wallpaper was a picture of the two of them. He quickly picked another photo and changed it, before dialing his best friend.

"Hey man!" A voice filled his ears from the other line.

"Brian." He paused, fighting back more tears. "You wanna go get some drinks tonight?" he asked. His voice was breaking.

Brian didn't ask any questions because he felt his friend may not want to share what was going on. "Yeah, sure, man." he responded. "I'll meet you at Johnny's in a half hour?"

Zack nodded as if Brian could see him. "Yeah, man. I'll see you then."

He hung up the phone and made his way upstairs to change. He entered the bedroom, still seeing her stuff laying around. It angered him that she wasn't a very good housekeeper. If it was left up to him to decide, she wasn't a very good wife either. He scoffed at the mess, making his way over to the closet, changing his shirt.

He had finally stopped crying and anger had set it. He was repulsed by everything of hers. He hoped she would come get it out as soon as possible. He already had it in his mind to file for a divorce the next day.

The drive to Johnny's seemed like an eternity, even though it was only about fifteen or so minutes away. Maybe it was everything that was on his mind that made the trip seem miserable. He put the car in park, shutting off the engine. He sat there for a moment, gripping the steering wheel. He glared at the gold band that adorned his left ring finger. He chewed his lip, thinking about what that band should have meant, before slipping it off his hand and tossing it into the glove compartment, then getting out of the car.

His phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out, looking at the screen. Gena was calling. He shook his head, debating on answering it, before hitting 'reject' and sliding it back into his pocket, then heading into the bar.

It didn't take long for him to find Brian sitting at the bar. He already had shots lined up for the both of them. Brian was his best friend and he knew something was up. Something that needed Jack Daniels to cure.

"Hey, man." Brian said, looking over as Zack sat down at the bar.

"Hey." Zack mumbled, not wasting any time before throwing back one of the shots on the bar.

Brian took a drink of his beer. "You wanna talk about it?" he asked cautiously, as Zack threw back another shot, sitting the glass back down, before grabbing another.

"In a minute." he said, drinking the last shot. At this point, Brian knew something was up.

Zack didn't drink like that unless it was something bad or something he wanted to forget. He hadn't seen him drink like that since Jimmy had passed. Zack ordered up another round of shots, before turning to Brian. "I'm done with women." Zack stated.

Brian sat his beer down, looking at his friend. "What happened?" By this time he had noticed that Zack's wedding band was gone and he knew that Gena had pulled something stupid.

"I'm divorcing Gena." Zack stated, looking over at Brian. "She cheated on me."

Brian chuckled. "I should have known." he said, moving the bottle to his lips. Zack took another shot from the round he ordered.

"Yeah. Me too." he said, dryly. Brian shifted on the stool, ordering another beer.

"I don't think you need to be sitting here, drinking yourself into oblivion, that's for sure." Brian grabbed the beer that was sat on the bar and pushed it in front of his friend. "Get this in you."

Zack looked over at his friend. "I just wanna forget about it, man." he said, shaking his head, letting it drop. Brian nodded, patting him on the back.

"I know." he sympathized. "This just isn't the way to do it. You have to move on." Zack shook his head.

"I don't want to move on. I don't trust anyone and I don't think I ever can again." He said, pulling his beer to his lips. By this point, he was starting to feel the effect from the shots he had earlier, and he knew it was only going to get worse. Brian, gripped his shoulder.

"Well that's just too bad, because the honey over there in the corner has been looking at you for the past five minutes." Zack, looked over into the corner with a quick turn. "Could you be any more obvious?" Brian said, turning back toward the bar. Zack followed.

"Whatever, man. She's way out of my league. Not to mention she would probably cheat on me too." Brian laughed a little.

"Come on, man." he coached. "Go talk to her." Zack looked at him with a serious face. Zack shook his head. "I don't want to do this right now. I don't want to do this ever." He paused for a moment, thinking. "I let this person into my life and dedicate everything to her for years through so much on and off bullshit and finally marry her like she wanted for what?.. Just for her to fuck me over in the most horrible way possible. I would have never done that to her, Brian. I've had so many opportunities to do so and I wouldn't, because I fucking loved her." He said, getting up, taking his wallet out of his pocket, paying or the round. The tears were coming this time and he wasn't going to be able to stop them.

Brian's heart was breaking for his friend. He knew how much Zack and Gena had been through and all the things that she had done and the way she treated him. "You deserve better." he stated, bringing his beer to his lips again. Zack nodded. "You're probably right." he said taking another shot. "It's just not happening." He finished the rest of his beer, before getting to his feet. "I think I'm gonna head home.

Brian stood to his feet. "Let me give you a ride home. You're way too drunk." Zack was hesitant at first, taking his friend away from the bar, but then gave in. He just wanted to go home and let the liquor do it's thing so he could pass out and forget tonight ever happened.

I loved this chapter so much! The ending was perfect! I can’t wait for more

This is so cute and light so far and I'm really enjoying it! I just went through a nasty breakup myself, so Zack saying that all he wanted to do was move on and pack up Gena's shit was super relatable! I'm looking forward to seeing how Zack warms up to Charlotte!
