Nothing Else Matters

Mr. Perfect don't exist, my little friend

How I missed the chaotic times right before a concert is about to start! I hold Presley’s hand as we walk around backstage. I grip his hand tighter as he tries to pull away. Backstage, at this time, is basically a war zone. There is no way I’m letting loose a six year old; they won’t care who his father and grandfather are.

“Daddy!” Presley yells as he rips his hand from mine and quickly runs to his father; dodging crew members as he does. Rolling my eyes as a smirk dances on my lips, I jog over to my son and his father just in time to see Michael picking Presley up.

“Kid you got to stop doing this or you’ll get hurt; trust me.” I chuckle as I get to them. “Lucky for you most of these men know how I was growing up so they're used to crazy six year olds running amuck around here.”

“And you just know your mother was a crazy little girl, growing up.” Michael laughs earning an eye roll from me. “But she’s right, be safe okay?”

“Yes, Daddy.” Presley says in a small voice, earning a frown from me. I’ve always been the one to stray away from punishment and the like. I hate seeing my blue eyed boy sad.

“Hey, smile Pres.” I tell him. “You get to see Daddy and Grandpa play tonight; that’s exciting right?”

“Yay!” He immediately perked up. Sure he’s seen soundchecks and rehearsal done for both Metallica and Volbeat but this is the first time he’s seen both of them in action in front of crowds. “Can I stay up for all of Grandpa’s set!? Pretty please.” Those blue eyes of his almost makes it impossible to say no to his begging; definitely something he gets from Michael.

“You crazy? You really think I’m going to let a six year old stay up til midnight?” I ask him as I get close enough so we’re eye to eye almost. He just nods his head smiling. “Even your Grandpa wasn’t crazy enough to do that. You get an 1 and a half of Grandpa’s set before we’re going to bed.” He starts to pout and I immediately start kissing all over his face, earning laughs to escape. “There is only one Poulsen that can get his way with pouting like that and sadly baby boy, that isn’t you.”

“Five minutes, Michael.” Jon, Volbeat’s drummer, tells us before walking away.

“Give Daddy a kiss and wish him luck, it’s time for him to go to work.”

“Good Luck Daddy!” Presley says before quickly kissing Michael. “Are you guys going to play Mommy’s song?”

Michael looks up at me and smirks before looking at his son, smiling. “We’ll see. Be good for Mommy okay?” The blonde haired boy nods his head as his father hands him over to me.

“Break a leg, Mike.” I tell him as our son snuggles up against me. He just offers a smile before walking off with his bandmates.

“Mommy, can I sit next to the stage to watch Daddy?” Presley asks me. I look up and see Michael talking to Darren before I return my gaze to Presley. “Sure baby, just stay close to Uncle Darren, okay?” I put him down and he instantly runs over and wraps his arms around Darren’s legs. I can’t help but to laugh; my son is adorable.

I look up from my son just to see Michael staring at me before the music started. I offer him a smile before he runs off onto the stage playing the intro to The Devil’s Bleeding Crown.

“He’s always going to love you, you know that?” A voice behind me asks. I turn around and see Matt standing there with two beers in his hands. He offers me which I gladly take. “He looks at you like you’re the only person in the world yet he broke it off with you; I don’t get it.”

“The breakup was mutual, Matt.” I reply before taking a sip of my beer. “There is nothing to get.”

“I should just kick his ass for principal.” Matt laughs, earning an eye roll from me. “I did say if he hurts you that I would kick his ass.”

“I’m not hurt, Matt.” I assure him. “There will be no ass kicking on this tour, you hear me?”

He just chuckles before placing an arm around my shoulders, “I can’t promise you anything, Layla. Can’t promise you anything…”
