A Shot In The Dark
Band Practice and Great Ideas
Chapter 3: Shiloh’s POV
After I changed I walked hand in hand with Zacky down the stairs. When we walked into the living room, there sat Matt, Val, the man named Jimmy, whom Zacky had to practically man-handle away from me earlier, and two men that I had yet to meet.
Zacky squeezed my hand gently before letting it go and walking over to one of the straight back chairs, next to Matt who had Val on his lap. I stood there awkwardly when Val smirked at me and moved her eyes from Zacky to Me. Zacky caught her movement and smiled slightly, “You can sit on my lap Shi, promise I won’t bite.”
I followed his request, feeling all eyes on me and suddenly, I wasn’t as outgoing or cocky as I had been the night before. I looked nervously at Val as I made my way over to Zacky, he noticed my awkwardness and gently took my hand, causing me to look into his eyes. “Shi, it’s okay, sit down babe.”
I nodded and sat down on his lap, instantly being engulfed in a hug, “Awwwww, they’re so cute!” Jimmy loudly whispered to a guy who had short spikey hair and brown chocolate eyes.
I saw the man hold back a laugh but he ended up smirking, “Yeah they do. She’s awfully quiet though.” He looked over at Matt, “This is the chick you were bitching about keeping you up all night from across the hall?”
My eyes went huge as I gasped at Matt, “MATTHEW,” Val chastised her boyfriend who just shrugged and smiled sheepishly.
I buried my face into Zacky’s chest and he stroked my hair gently, “Don’t worry baby-doll, I’ll get em back for you.” He whispered before clearing his throat, “Guys, this is Shiloh. Shiloh, that’s Jimmy, who you met a little bit ago. Brian,” he nodded at the brown eyed guy, “and Johnny. Or short shit as we usually call him.” He nodded to the mohawked guy who hadn’t really made a sound since I walked in until now.
“Nice to meet you, sorry for these three assholes,” he nodded to his right and then at Matt.
I smiled and nodded, “It’s okay, sorry normally I’m not this shy.”
“You shouldn’t be shy!” Jimmy enthused, “Besides, I’ve already seen you practically naked.”
I groaned, “Yeah, yeah I know you have Jimmy.” I flashed him a grin and shook my head.
Zacky let out a breath that I hadn’t noticed he’d been holding, “So are we gonna practice or just fuck off?”
Brian shrugged, “Fuck if I care what we do, we’ll end up getting drunk and fucking off anyways.”
“We should try to get something done though,” Matt said thoughtfully.
“Actually; Brian’s right babe,” Val smiled and kissed Matt’s cheek. “You guys will get through one set and then stop to celebrate.” She giggled at all the offended looks she got from the guys, “You guys will be drunk by 5 pm.”
“I’d give it til 3,” Brian grinned.
“GUYS! LOOK AT THAT FUCKING DUCK!” Jimmy yelled staring out the window, his mouth gaping open. “IT’S A FUCKING STALLION! LET’S GO GET IT!”
“Oh no, not again,” Val giggled as Brian wrapped an arm around Jimmy’s waist when he tried to jump up and make a move towards the door.
“Not right now buddy, duty calls first,” Brian talked to Jimmy like he was an overly excited child.
“LET ME GO! THERE’S A FUCKING STALLION DUCK THAT NEEDS TO BE CHASED,” Jimmy wriggled trying to break the embrace.
“Well that’s fine if he wants to go get the duck, I’ll just fill in on his drumset,” Johnny joked but Jimmy froze and stared him down.
“You fucking touch my drum set then you’re toast, midget,” Jimmy crossed his arms.
I giggled and looked at Jimmy thoughtfully, “Then I guess you gotta stay put, eh?”
Jimmy sighed in defeat, “Fiiiiiine,” he whined. “Let’s get to it then,” he made his way towards a door that led to a descending stairwell.
Zacky squeezed my thigh, “Wanna watch us practice or you gotta get going?”
I smiled at him, “You want me to stay or are you itching to kick me out?”
Everyone tried to pretend they were following Jimmy but were eavesdropping on Zacky’s answer, except Val. She was openly staring at Zacky waiting for an answer. “I’m not itching to kick you out, just wasn’t sure if you had stuff to do today.”
I smiled, “I’m free today, usually only busy Monday through Friday.”
“That must be nice,” he smiled and brushed my bangs away from my face. He gently kissed me before grabbing my hand and leading me downstairs with everyone else.
A few hours later, true to their words, they had completed one set and stopped to celebrate. I glanced at the clock on the wall as they passed out the beers. 2:45 pm, Brian was right, I chuckled to myself.
“What you giggling at, girly?” Val asked handing me a beer.
“Brian was right, almost spot on,” I grinned widely and she chuckled herself.
“Well I’d be worried had they all denied his claim,” Val smiled. “So…you and Zacky look pretty cozy.”
I blushed slightly as Zacky caught my gaze and smiled at me as he talked to the guys. “Yeah, he’s a nice guy. Thank-you for setting us up, I think it has quite a bit of potential.”
Val clinked our bottles, “Cheers to that.” We both tipped our bottles up and took a long drink.
“GUYS! I have a great idea!” Jimmy exclaimed.
“What’s that Jimbo?” Matt asked him curiously.
“We should play beer pong, except in a different way!” Jimmy said happily.
“What would you change Jimmy?” Johnny asked intrigued by the idea.
“Cups woud have different liquors in them, they’d all be in the middle of us. Like a huge circle, and depending on the liquor or beer would depend if you had to do a truth or a dare,” Jimmy smiled clearly proud of his brilliant plan.
“That sounds like a shit ton of fun!” I exclaimed excitedly.
“But we’d need like 50 or so red-solo cups and like 4 diff kinds of liquor,” Brian pointed out.
“A hundred cups and 6 types of liquor,” Jimmy said matter-of-factly.
“Oh Lord, I feel a sleep over coming on,” Val chuckled.
“Alright, tell you what,” Zacky started. “Jimmy and Brian, go get the cups and liquor, take Johnny with you. Johnny, don’t break any bottles like you did that one time with the 40.”
“Oh. My. God. I’m never going to live that down am I? It happened like a year ago!” Johnny defended himself.
“Still makes a point, short-shit,” Matt cracked a dimpled smile at him.
“Fine,” Johnny huffed. “I won’t touch anything.”
“TO THE STORE!” Jimmy yelled and bounded up the stairs followed by a laughing Brian and Johnny.
“Val and I will be in charge of food and snacks,” Matt nodded towards us.
“We probably should go get more of Shiloh’s clothes, since the girls are staying another night,” Zacky noted.
I nodded at him, “Unless you have a pair of gym shorts and a t-shirt I could wear to bed, then I could just wear these home tomorrow.”
“That works too,” Zacky smirked at me.
“You guys be in charge of music?” Matt smiled at us.
“Heck yeah!” I smiled and looked at Zacky, “We can handle that.”
