A Shot In The Dark

**Zacky’s POV**
I watched with concern as Val hurried Shi to the ladies room, “Padge you dick,” Tuck teased his friend.

“I didn’t mean too!” Padge smiled innocently.

“It’s alright, she’s just got a touch of morning sickness,” I said fidgeting a little in my seat as Brian clapped me on the shoulder.

“She’ll be alright V,” he nodded at me.

“You all should have seen the baby, it’s so tiny and cute!” Jimmy exclaimed taking the topic off of me.

“Did you take a picture Jim?” Matt asked clearly amused that our friend was so excited. I mean hell, I was excited too, but…there’s still so long to go until she’s due. I think the doctor said somewhere around November 11th? Right? Fuck you’re the worst dad ever. The appointment wasn’t even 2 hours ago.

“Earth to Zack,” Jaime said as he threw a chip at me.

“huh?” I asked shaking off the worry for now.

“When’s she due?” Tuck repeated the question as all of them stared at me expecting me to have the answer. Of all the times Jimmy had to get distracted and run off to the bar, I groaned inwardly looking over at my friend who was animatedly chatting with the bar tender.

“Uhm, I…I think they said somewhere around November 11th?” I cast a glance toward the bathroom door realizing the girls had been in there for quite a few minutes.

Matt followed my gaze, “Do you want me to go check on them?”

“I’m sure everything’s fine,” I tried to play it off.

“V, let’s go smoke,” Brian stood and patted my shoulder.

“Yeah, okay,” I jumped up and followed my friend outside.

“Dude, what the fuck’s going on?” Brian asked, clearly concerned as he lit up a smoke.

I took in the sunshine as we stood there and sighed, “I don’t even know. I’m just…scared.”

“About what?” he asked as he leaned against the metal railing on the outskirt of the outdoor seating range.

“It was so tiny Bri, so tiny, helpless, I’ve never been so scared in my life, I don’t even give two shits about breaking things up with Gina right here and now. What scares me to death is that something will happen to that beautiful little blimp that was on the screen,” I ran my fingers through my hair.

“V, breathe. You have what, 8 months left til the kid’s here? Everything will be okay, if it has any of Shiloh in it, it’ll be stubborn and fierce as hell,” Bri joked a little to get me to lighten up.

“You’re right, I just need to chill,” I replied. Thank god I have him, I’d be so fucked if I didn’t have one of my best friends by my side to talk me out of my head.

“You gonna smoke?” Bri asked as he put out his cig.

“No, I’m good, did you know it’s not good for the baby?” I asked him incredulously.

“Well, I mean, I’ve heard rumors, but is that a real thing?”

“Yeah! Like, you’re not supposed to smoke around a pregnant lady or the kid, also they’re like so limited on what they can take medicine wise,” I explained to him as we walked back into the restaurant.

“You don’t say,” he smirked at me then nodded at the table, “The girls are back.”

I all but ran back to Shiloh’s side, “Are you alright doll?”

She nodded as I gently caressed her cheek, “Just ready to eat and then go lay down.”

**Val’s POV**
When we walked into the hotel, it was obvious to the staff how relieved we were to be staying there, “Finally…sleep. And not just sleep, but decent sleep.” I sighed happily as I rested my head on Matt’s shoulder.

“I bet you girls are definitely ready for some sleep,” Brian said and I sneakily looked at Shi and Zack who were cuddled up best they could as we waited for the elevator.

“I know I am,” I grinned at him. “What about you back there mama?”

“I’m so ready for sleep, you have no idea Vallie,” Shiloh answered me and all the guys nodded along with us.

“You guys go ahead, we’ll take the next lift,” Tuck stated and the others in his band nodded.

“Thanks guys, we’ll meet up with you later on for dinner?” Zacky asked politely.

“Sounds like a plan, maybe find a club or bar to go to later on?” Moose asked everyone.

“Sounds like fun,” I replied and looked at Shi, “You up for helping me babysit tonight?”

“Yeah, that’ll be fun and work out so well,” she giggled knowing as well as I did that all the guys would be more than two handfuls could handle. We may need some backup; however, luckily Matthew and Brian typically listen pretty well when they’re drunk. Especially if I put on my mom voice, luckily, I didn’t think Zack would get too drunk in front of Shiloh just in case she needed something, but who the fuck knows with that boy. Also, Johnny and Jimmy are always a mess when drunk, Matt regularly has to carry Johnny and Brian usually piggy backs Jimmy up to bed.

We boarded the elevator and went up to the suite, luckily this place had a suite with 3 bedrooms, it means that the guys had to bunk up, but they were usually okay with it. While they do prefer their own beds, I knew Jimmy could bunk with Zacky and Shiloh pretty comfortably with the two beds in there. Although, when he was drunk, I’d probably put him on the couch. If he needs to get to the bathroom quick, he’s not above walking all over or climbing all over the people in his way. Maybe I should put him in the room with Johnny, those two fuckers usually cuddle up anyways.

“Babe,” Matt whispered in my ear, his arm snaked around my middle, “We’re here.”

“How are we doing room assignments?” Jimmy asked immediately crashing on the couch.

“That’s just what I was thinking about too,” I nodded at him.

“What if we put Zack and Shi in the bedroom with the attached bathroom?” Brian asked obviously more awake and smarter than I was.

“I think that’d work out best, any objections?” I asked the guys.

“Even if we did, we’d look like dicks Val,” Johnny laughed letting us know he was joking.

“That’s true short shit,” Matt nudged him, “So don’t be a dick.”

He held up his hands, “Hey! I wasn’t, I don’t care where I sleep, I could sleep on the balcony for all I care.”

Instantly I saw Jimmy’s face light up, “No Jimmy. That’s not a legitimate option.”

He pouted at me and crossed his arms, “You’re no fun.”

I giggled at our friend and shook my head, “Let’s take a look at the other rooms, see what we’re working with.”

Matt cut in, “There’s 2 queen beds in that one,” he pointed to the one on the right side of the room. “In that one there’s a king size bed,” he pointed to the other on the left side of the room next to Zacky and Shi’s room. “The couch also folds out and has a memory foam mattress.”

“I love when you do your homework,” I grinned at him and pecked his lips. “Alright, so, who wants where?”

“I’ll take the couch, Jimmy ends up finding his way into my bed when I sleep in the room with him,” Johnny chuckled teasingly.

“Fine, I’ll room with my Bri-bear!” Jimmy stuck his tongue out and went over and hung all over Brian. “That work for you darling?” He planted a big kiss on Brian’s cheek.

Brian laughed and hugged his friend, “Yeah that works, I’ll room with Jimmy in the 2 Queen room.”

“Alright, Johnny are you sure you’re alright with the couch?” I asked cautiously, sometimes with these boys they test my patience by saying they’re alright with something then two days later they’re at each other’s throats.

“Yeah, I’m good, plus I get to hear sex noises all night, it’ll be great,” he winked at me and Shi.

“You’re such a perv,” Matt laughed and chucked a box of Kleenex at his friend.

“Thanks,” Johnny lifted the box and winked. Everyone laughed shaking their heads.

“Alright y’all, be up around 9?” I asked them knowing most of them would be up before then, but hopefully they’d let me sleep that full 6 hours.

“Sounds good, see y’all then,” Brian said and we all went to our rooms.
