You Said You'd Never Leave Me

Chapter Five

The week flew by quickly and soon it was Friday night. Brian’s conquest Candy was throwing a party, and everyone was invited, including us, which surprised the hell out of me. I wasn’t too keen on going. She didn’t like me, and I didn’t like her, which was absolutely fine. I had planned to just curl up in bed and read a good book or watch a couple of horror films, but Mallory and Gracie told me to not be a boring old woman and come. I eventually gave in and well…now here I was standing in front of the mirror in my bedroom, fixing my hair while I waited for the girls to pick me up.

I thought back to Monday during music when Brian made that remark and frowned. I had mulled it over since then but was still completely confused by what he meant. Plus, I still didn’t know what his problem with me was. I hadn’t done a single thing for him to act this way. I wasn’t sure what to do anymore.

A honk pulled me out of my thoughts, I let out a groan, not wanting to go and be around people I didn’t like. Would it be too late to message Mallory and tell her I was sick, even though she was already here? Another honk rang out and I let out another groan. Obviously not.

Grabbing my phone, I switched the lights off and closed my door, making my way downstairs. It was too quiet in this house. Maybe tomorrow I’ll go to the rescue center and adopt a dog or cat or something. Give me some company. I set the house alarm and locked the front door behind me, before making my way to Mallory’s car. “Hey bitch, you’re looking hot!” She exclaimed as I got in the car. “That thigh slit though…are you trying to get some dick tonight from a certain someone?”

I scoffed. “Fuck no. Fucking tool,” I grumbled, leaning back in my seat.

Mallory and Gracie both looked at me. I rolled my eyes and sighed. “If you don’t start this car Mal, I’m getting out and going back to bed.”

“Okay, okay, jeez,” Mallory muttered, putting the car in drive. “You need to get laid.”

I shook my head. “No, I just need to find out why Brian acted like nothing but a complete douche bag toward me ever since I got here.”

“You’re not serious?” Gracie asked.

“Serious about what?” I asked.

Gracie sighed. “Serious about not knowing why Brian’s upset with you?”

I turned in my seat and raised an eyebrow at her. “Yes, I am serious and by the sounds of it, you know exactly what I’m talking about, so please spill the tea.”

Gracie held her hands up in surrender and shook her head. “It isn’t my place to say anything. I overhead Brian saying a few things to Jimmy the other day but that’s all I’m saying. Talk to Brian.”

Glaring at her, I turned back around and stared out the windscreen, folding my arms across my chest. “I don’t care what happens, I’m pulling Brian away tonight at the party and saying something to him.”

“Uh…I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Mallory spoke, awkwardly.

“Why’s that?” I asked.

She let out a sigh and looked at me quickly before turning her attention back to the road and opening her mouth. “Just promise me you won’t do anything stupid.”

I shook my head. “I won’t be doing anything stupid. All I want to know why he’s a fucking douche bag.”

Mallory groaned. “Fine, just make sure Candy isn’t around when you ask him. Trust me, you won’t like her reaction.”

Letting out a sarcastic chuckle, I shook my head and rolled my eyes. “What’s her deal? Her and Brian are obviously, together right? So why doesn’t she like to be seen with him at school? Better yet, why is she only around him when we’re all behind closed doors?”

“Okay, 1, Brian and Candy aren’t together. Brian doesn’t do relationships. Never has. Not after…anyways and 2, Candy, as you know, is part of the popular group, so to keep her reputation, she doesn’t hang out with Brian, unless it’s behind closed doors, due to her losing her credibility,” Gracie spoke, before swigging back a gulp of whatever it was from her flask.

I rolled my eyes. “She should be happy that a guy like that is showing interest in her. Be proud to show him off.”

Gracie passed me the flask and I took my own swig, savoring the liquid, I worked out to be Jack Daniels, as it fell down my throat.

“I don’t know about you Gracie but to me, it sounds like miss over here likes Brian more than she’s leading us to believe.”

Gracie smirked and squeezed my shoulder, smiling at me before taking another swig from her flask.

Soon enough we arrived at the party. Mallory pulled up to the curb and stared up at the house. “Here we are,” she muttered.

The thumping music replaced the sound of the engine as Mallory turned off the car. “Do we have to go inside?” I asked with a frown.

“Yes bitch, I am not leaving my man to get fucking mauled by those skanky whores inside. When they get drunk, those girls will try and sleep with anything that has two legs and a heartbeat. I’m the only one that gets to touch Jimmy’s dick. That dick is all mine.” Gracie muttered, glaring at two half naked girls standing outside the house. “My precious.”

“Gracie?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.

She shook her head and nodded. “Yes Allie?”

“You’re a freak.”

She grinned and wiggled her eyebrows. “Sure am.”

I shook my head and got out of the car. “C’mon girls, I need a fucking drink.”

“You’re telling me,” Mallory replied, locking her car.

We made our way into the house and straight away, I just wanted to turn around and race back out of the house and go home. Gracie must’ve known, because she grabbed my hand and gave it a slight tug. “C’mon,” she mouthed, pointing in the direction of the kitchen.

I let out a shaky breath and nodded, following her and Mallory to the kitchen. There we found Zacky and Jimmy, grabbing drinks. “Well, hello there ladies, you’re looking hot,” Jimmy with a grin, grabbing Gracie’s hand and twirling her around.

She giggled and grabbed his shirt, pulling him against her. “C’mon baby, let’s go dance,” she smirked.

Jimmy wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and smirked. “Lead the way gorgeous,” he muttered, giving her ass a light squeeze. “Bye guys.”

I watched them leave the room before turning my attention to Mallory, grabbing the drink from her outstretched hand. “Thanks.”

“You okay Allie?” Zacky asked, taking a sip of his drink.

I nodded. “I’ll be okay, I’m just going to go outside and grab a smoke. I’m feeling a little antsy and claustrophobic.”

He nodded and sent me a tiny smile, passing me one of his smokes. “Message me later, just in case you can’t find us,” Mallory said, with a smile.

I nodded and returned her smile before turning on my heel and making my way out to the large backyard. As I made my way around the pool, I took a seat and stuck the cigarette in my mouth, letting out a groan and cursing when I realized I didn’t have a lighter. I closed my eyes and held my head in my hands. Man, I just wish I didn’t let Mallory and Gracie guilt trip me into coming to this stupid party. Parties were not my scene.

I was so into my thoughts, that I didn’t even take note of the body that had taken a seat next to me. “Need a light?” A voice next to me asked.

I let out a squeal and clutched my chest, looking over at the asshole, rolling my eyes once I saw who it was. Brian sat there, staring at me, his silhouette lit up from the lights in the garden. I was surprised, he actually willingly came over to me and actually spoke to me without an attitude. I nodded and leaned closer to him as he flicked his lighter and held to my cigarette. I watched as the end turned orange and inhaled heavily, welcoming the toxins into my lungs. “Thanks,” I muttered, staring down at my shoes.

I had never felt so awkward in my life, but I knew I had to ask him as some point or another. I sculled the rest of my drink and slam it on the bench beside us, licking my lips. I took another drag of my smoke, inhaling and exhaling before staring right at Brian. “I have a question.”

Brian stared at me in silence, taking a drag of his own cigarette. “Do I want to know?” He asked, exhaling a weak cloud of smoke.

“Probably not, but I’m going to ask you anyways. Why? Because I just sculled a full cup of what I think was mostly Jacks and a tiny bit of coke, courtesy of your best friend. So why I have the liquid courage, Brian, what the fuck is your problem with me?”

“Yeah, you’re right. I don’t like your question.”

I stared at him and clenched my jaw. “So?”

Brian sighed and ran his free hand over his face. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me right now,” he muttered.

I looked at him and frowned. “What the hell are you on about?”

He scoffed and stared at me. “You don’t remember, do you?”

“Remember what Brian? I’m so fucking confused and you speaking in tongue is not fucking helping!”

Brian inhaled the last of his cigarette and threw it on the ground, stomping on it with the heel of his boot. He stood up and took a few steps.

“Brian are you going to tell me?” I exclaimed.

He turned around and stared at me with the most hateful look on his face. “You know what, don’t fucking worry about it,” he grumbled before turning on his heel and walking off.

“Brian!” I yelled.

“Fuck off!” He hollered back.

I stared at his retreating figure and sighed, realizing tears had started flowing down my face. I angrily wiped them away and stood up, throwing the burnt-out cigarette from my hand on the ground. Racing back into the house as fast as I could, I made my way back into the kitchen and poured myself a few shots of Jacks, throwing them back like they were water. I poured a shot of JD in a large red cup and grabbed the coke before deciding against my better judgement and throwing back that shot too. I wanted to get drunk and fast. Fuck the mixer, I’d just drink the bottle straight.

I wasn’t the biggest drinker in the world, so the alcohol was hitting me faster than I anticipated but I could give two shits right now. Grabbing the liter bottle of Jack Daniels off the counter, I tried to find a friendly face but after searching each room downstairs, I couldn’t find anyone. Not bothering to go upstairs, I left the house and stumbled my way out onto the street, not caring what happened to me.

Why did I think getting away from Denver would be better? My problems just followed me all the way here.

After stumbling around the road for what seemed like hours, I saw a lit-up playground. I stepped up onto the curb but ended up losing my footing and falling onto the grass. “For fuck sakes,” I grumbled, sitting up and wiping the dirt from my palms.

I untied the laces from my heels and slipped them off my feet, managing to tie the shoes together so I didn’t lose them, I threw them over my shoulder and lifted myself off the ground. I picked the bottle of jacks off the grass, doing a small dance, happy that it didn’t smash and took a large swig. I stumbled over to the swing set and sat down, pushing myself off the ground. Lying my head on the chain, I took another swig, silently cursing Brian for doing this to me.

Feeling my phone vibrate in my bra, I pulled it out, squinting at the brightness of the screen and answered the call. “Hellooooooooooo,” I asked.

“Allie, where the fuck are you?!” I heard a voice say on the other end.

“Whoooooo is thissss?” I asked sloppily.

“She’s fucking pissed,” I heard the voice say in the distance.

Abruptly I heard a new voice on the phone. “Allie, it’s Gracie, where are you?!”

“Gracieeeeee, baby girl, I’m in a park. Drinking. All because of Brian.”

“Allie, what park?!”

“Dunno, but I’m out of Jacks. I need more. Gracie I talk to you later. I got to find some more Jacks. Bubye.”

“Allie don’t you ha-.”

I hung up the phone and stood up, losing my footing once again. I fell on the sand and sighed, letting out a loud gasp. “Oopies,” I giggled, running my hands through the grainy dampness.

Suddenly I felt someone grab me around the waist and lift me up. “’cuse me but you don’t get to touch me,” I said tapping the tall stranger on the chest. “Oooohhh, your chest is hard. I like it.”

The guy sighed and leaned down, wrapping his arms around my knees and lifting me up over his shoulder. “Put me down!” I squealed, kicking my legs.

“Stop fucking kicking me,” he grumbled.

“Well, stop fucking kidnapping me you fucking loser.”

Muscles scoffed. “I’m not kidnapping you. If I was, I wouldn’t do it when you were in such a state. Plus I would’ve gagged you first.”

“I like being gagged,” I replied, giggling, running my hands over his back. “Fuck even your back is hot. Are we going back to your place?”

“No.”

I stayed quiet for a moment before realising who had grabbed me. I recognized the voice and the scatted tattoos on his arms. “Oh, my fucking god, it’s you. Put me the fuck down right now!” I sneered.

“You can barely fucking walk Allie so no I won’t put you down.”

“Brian, I swear to fucking god, if you don’t put me down right now, I will fucking scream bloody murder.”

“Alright fine,” he muttered, stopping in his tracks, leaning over and putting me on the ground.

I snatched my shoes from his hand and started walking off. “Where the fuck are you going?” He asked.

“Anywhere is better than being with you!” I snapped.

“Well for starters, Mallory and everyone is in the opposite direction.”

I stopped and looked around at my surroundings. Brian was right, and I hated him even more for it. I turned back around and saw the smug look on his face. “Take that fucking smug look off your face before I fucking slap it off your face bastard.”

Brian rolled his eyes and stared at me. “You really are a bitch, aren’t you?” He asked.

I stomped right up to him and pushed him. “You have no fucking idea Brian, you really don’t.”

“I have an idea,” he sneered.

“No you don’t. You think I’m a bitch now, you haven’t seen me as a bitch,” I snapped, pushing him once more. “Now you on the other hand, are an absolute dick!”

“Me, a dick?”

“Yes,” I screamed, pushing him once more.

“Oh please, elaborate for us all?”

“Ever since I arrived in Huntington Beach, you had absolutely no interest in wanting to know who I am,” I replied, hitting his chest.

Brian rolled his eyes and stared down at me, with a clenched jaw.

I stepped forward even closer, grabbing his shirt. “What the fuck have I done to you Brian, for you to make me feel like the worst person in the goddamn world? Huh?” I screamed, pushing him with all my might.

Brian lost his footing and fell against a car. “Stop fucking pushing me,” he snapped.

I glared at him, deciding to push his buttons even more. I could hear voices yelling mine and Brian’s names in the distance, but I disregarded it and kept my attention. “Or what Brian? What are you going to do? Hit a girl? Do it! I fucking dare you to!”

Brian righted himself and stepped closer to me. I lifted my hands and pushed him once again, waiting for him to do something but once again he just stood there. “C’mon Brian what are you gonna do?”

Suddenly Zacky, Matt and Jimmy came out of the darkness, with Mallory and Gracie in tow. The boys stepped forward, ready to break us apart. “Seriously Brian, tell me what the fuck your problem is?”

“Fine, I’m done. You want to know what my problem with you is?”

I nodded. “Yes, I fucking do!”
