Know Me By Name

Power Part 2

1980

My back spasmed in pain as a vision flashed through my mind. I hadn’t had a vision of a soul in so many years. It pained me, like someone was forcing the vision into my brain.

My powers had been slow to return. A vision was a huge deal, the biggest deal. It meant the Guardian in me was returning. It may even mean God had realized my Fall was actually a mistake.

The vision showed me a soul I never thought I’d see need me. He was chasing an unattainable beast, a creature no one could catch. He was going mad with the hunt, a mad man on a mission. Seeing him in a frenzy like that pained me. The longer the vision continued, the more pain I was in. this was a soul I didn’t think I could save, and I was the original Guardian.

“Oh, Matthew, what are you doing?” My vision faded and was quickly replaced by anxiety. My love was on a witch hunt to find Lucifer, his mother.
****************************************************************************************
The vision stuck with me. The Matthew I knew would never hunt down his mother. What could have caused the switch? The Angel of Death was supposed to be a calming force in the world, but now my love was looking more like an avenging angel.

“James,” I said to the warlock. He was still pouring over his spell book. The warlock believed he could bring back Alek and my wings. “Is there a place where I can communicate with Heaven?”

The warlock stared at me. There was nothing but confusion written on his face. “Kaylee, what is going on?”

I sighed. “A vision came to me, James. I need to try to reach out to Heaven. It is vitally important.”

The warlock stared at me and nodded, standing up and guiding me to where he wanted us to go. The Roses had a lot of secret places they had discovered, created both by God and the devil. They had had years of time to find every place they had hidden. All over the earth there were places to reach Hell or Heaven or at the very least communicate with each place.

James took us into the forest directly behind the Rose mansion. This was basically the werewolf home territory. They rarely left unless a Council meeting was called. Even Brian spent most of his time in there.

He cleared a shrub to reveal a circle. The circle was surrounded by various candles all lit different shades. The brightest candle was blue, exactly like James’s eyes. It was clear the warlock used this place for ceremonies and the like.

“This is a sacred place, Kaylee.” James carefully stepped into the circle, eyes glowing. “We only communicate with Heaven if it’s absolutely necessary and could save lives. You’ll need to tell me what’s going on, my dear.”

“I had a vision, James. The vision could be vitally important to the way the world will continue on. I need to try to reach Heaven.”

The warlock’s eyes closed and opened even brighter than they had been. Though my explanation had been cryptic, the warlock was beginning his chant. All the words were archaic, long ago forgotten. The candles started to glow brighter and the fire spread.

The bright, white light of Heaven hit my sight. My eyes rolled into the back of my head as I called for Gabriel. The Messenger of God would be the best to hear my message. With all my strength, I summoned my ability to flash and briefly flashed into Heaven. Immediately, pain seared through my back and brain. The pain casted me out of Heaven and back into the circle with the warlock.

His chanting stopped. “Did it work?”

“I certainly hope so.”
