Mommy Dearest
Chapter 1
Erin’s P.O.V
To say that I hadn’t been at my fair share of record labels would be a lie, working as whatever a label needed was really my job along with my best friend Hannah’s, we had always been ones to be where there music was, it was our calling but today was a big day, we were both assigned to Capitol Records.. not only that but Avenged Sevenfold. I was early and waiting for Hannah, she was on her way but L.A. traffic what can I say… I was setting things up when one of the band members walked in.
“Excuse me that’s my guitar, who are you?” He barked at me and I just brought my hands back a bit away from what I was doing.
“I am sorry I was getting things ready, I am Erin Williams, I am one of the new studio workers” I said putting my hand out to shake his, I knew he was, Zacky Vengeance, but I was being professional.
“You probably should have said that before touching things, so what are you and your partner? Interns, yup gotta be interns” He said and I could tell he was really out of it.
“I have been working in studios for years, I am more than qualified and I don’t appreciate you treating someone who is making sure everything is ready and making your spoiled life a little easier, I am usually nice but thank you for being one of those band members that has a stick up their ass” I grab my paperwork and push it into his chest so he can read and head back out making sure that I greeted the rest of the band as they came in. Hannah arrived twenty minutes later smiling widely and the moment she saw me she knew something was going on.
“What… did you do?” She asked getting me to crack a smile as we walked toward the studio full of members of the band.
“Well… I had a run in with Zack… and he snapped so I did too… kinda told him he has a stick up his ass” I said giving a slight giggle.
“Oh E! You are the craziest lass I know, my goodness, cmon where is the professional woman who is discreet, he may have things to say but you know you have your position down packed” She said sincerely and I smiled walking with her into the room hearing the guys booming in laughter at random things they were talking about. Hannah and I had both went in front of them saying our names and letting them know what we were here to do and help with, through the first half of the day Zack would glare at me if I came anywhere near him but as Hannah said.. I needed to be discreet, I needed to show him that I was here to work.. it only sucked he was my favorite member of the band.
Third Person P.O.V
Zack was hard at work, he was trying to adjust to the two new girls that were working in their studio, he would glance over at Erin and Hannah as they did their work and sat behind all the guys thinking maybe once Erin would look at him but she did all in her power to keep her eyes off. Brian was working on some backing vocals and Erin was listening in as Matt and Hannah were speaking to each other about the work getting to know one another.
“Hey Brian ya know if you go down one more octave it might match the back perfectly and give it a more eyrie vibe” Erin said to him and he smile and gave a thumbs up recording it to hear it back and smiled getting excited by the fact that it worked so well with the song.
“That was genius, I am gonna practice this more, head over to Vengeance and let him know about the change!” Brian hugged Erin and she walked over to where Zack was waiting for him to finish what he was doing, he took the headphones off slowly and looked up at her.
“Brian wanted me to let you know that the backing vocals for the song on his end are an octave lower, sorry to disturb your work” Erin said calmly handing the marked music score, she turned away and started heading towards her bag knowing the day was about done and Zack took a moment looking it over and walked to her.
“I apologize for earlier and I appreciate the heads up” He was really cautious of how he spoke and she just grabbed her stuff and smiled politely.
“Just doing my job, I will see you tomorrow Zack” She said and was quick to say goodbye to all the guys and let Hannah know that she was going to head home for the day.
Zack’s P.O.V
It was late, I had stayed long after the guys trying to go over more and more of my parts but after a bit I realized that I needed to get home, when I did get home my mom was asleep in her guest room, it was her night to watch Tennessee for me. When I got into the room he was lying there awake.
“Look at you, must’ve been waiting up for daddy” I speak softly picking him up and taking him into my arms rocking him gently in the chair by his crib just trying to soothe him. After a few moments I heard him quiet down and just relax into my shoulder, I looked over at the nightstand and stared at Meaghan’s photo… the tears welled up in my eyes, I placed Tennessee back in his crib before I went to the other room losing it a bit, I grabbed a drink and took it down as I cried.
“I can’t do this alone… how in the hell could this happen…” That was all my thoughts consisted of.. I would never be able to love again and I sure as hell wasn’t sure how to even raise this boy on my own.
