Cold State Line

Still in Court

I hated her. This stupid woman really thought she could waltz into my dad's town and ruin my life? I had owned her; I had made her mine, and she still wanted to destroy me like this? Who the fuck did this bitch think she was? Every god damn word out of her mouth was a lie. She had nothing on me.

"Clay, I need you to calm down before we go into that room." Dad put a hand on my shoulder. "You have to appear like you're in control."

My eyes met my father's. "I am in control. I am always in control."

He pulled me aside, away from the others. "Do not pull that bullshit with me, Clay. You and I both know that you are not in control right now. You haven't been in control when it comes to that conniving bitch. We need to poke holes in her god damn case. You are not going to jail, and you will not take me down with you."

I nodded, understanding what he meant. Haylee was trying to destroy my family, and I would be damned if I let her do that. If she really thought that my family would stand by and let her say this shit, she had another think coming.

And if that dark, gloomy asshole she was fucking wanted to stand by her, I would make sure he would burn too. I grabbed my father's arm. "I don't want to just poke holes in her case, Dad. I want to bury them both. They want to besmirch my name and reputation, I will show them they don't fuck with us."

Dad nodded, a small smile growing on his face. I got my intelligence from him. We both knew whatever evidence Haylee claimed to have could easily be thrown out. The judge we had was a friend of my mother's. Haylee had no chance in hell.

I made sure she could see me as I walked into the court room, smirking the entire time. Haylee wouldn't meet my eyes; I'm sure she knew what she was doing was a mistake. She knew what she was doing was wrong. Haylee didn't know what to do without me.

"Please be seated," the judge said, "Today, we are going to delve into the most recent issue regarding Miss Lewis and Mr. Anderson. From what I understand, the police will also be reporting on the issue."

My smirk dropped a little. The police were not in our family's pocket. They hated my dad because he normally sided against them. Some of them even dared to call him corrupt. My father was the furthest thing from corrupt. He just knew that pockets ran deeper than any thing the police could dig up.

Haylee peered over at me. I could tell she was nervous. I always had that effect on her. That woman would die without me. This was going to be a fucking cake walk. She was never going to be the same again...

Although, I had already made sure of that with those scars of hers.

Notes

Update. My Wi-Fi dropped out. Me thinks Clay is gonna do something fucking stupid. What are y'all thinking?
