Gunslingers

Matt pulled the trigger, and I watched through the scope as it hit the target perfectly. I couldn't deny he was an amazing shot and a good friend thus far. Thank to him, the SEALs had actually welcomed me as one.

"That would be a kill shot, Shadz."

He nodded and reloaded the gun. Ever since he'd learned that we'd be working with Marines and in particular, Rae, we'd spent a lot of time at the range. I guess Sanders had some issues to work out.

The gun went off and once again, he made the kill shot. The man was dangerously good with any gun. He reloaded the gun again.

"IS this all you're doing today?" I asked, calculating the wind speed for him. Matt could do it himself, but he liked it verified for him.

"Yep. You can leave if you want, Zacky. I'm gonna be pissy all day."

I nodded and packed up my scope. The guy didn't need me just to confirm his fake confirmed kill shots. He just needed to work out the idea of working with Rae. Even I was having a difficult time wrapping my brain around the idea. Women in combat just seemed like a terrible idea.

I left Sanders to sulk with his high-powered weapon and headed to my room to pack for tour. We didn't have much to pack, but it would make me feel better than watching Matt slowly lose it.

I hummed the tune of "Unholy Confessions," the first song the five of us had played together. It'd get stuck in my head every now and then, and I was never sure how to feel about it. On the one had, it was catchy as hell; on the other, I wanted a different song in there.

Opening my door, I kept humming the tune. My voice wasn't like Matt's, that's why I'd stuck with guitar. But even then, Brian kicked my ass at it. He had magic fingers.

"Play it again, ZV. That was a dope melody," Brian said and sat next to me to watch my fingers work.

Johnny and Jimmy bobbed their heads along, and I could see them forming the beat. This is what I loved about these guys. We were able to come together and seemingly seamlessly form new songs. It was like we were meant to find each other.

"Where's the asshole?" Brian asked once I'd finished the new riff.

"Working through some personal issues." I didn't want to tell them too much about Sanders. He still was pissy around the pilots.

"So just jamming today." Johnny seemed to be floating on air. So did Jimmy, but I think that was just Jimmy.

"No, I'm here." Matt entered the courtyard and set down a tattered notepad. The man needed to invest in a laptop.

"What's up your ass?" Johnny put the strap of his base over his shoulder.

Matt sent him a look, and Johnny instantly shut up. Matt could kick all of our asses at the same time with one had tied behind his back.

"Okay, shutting up. Different topic-- I met a girl." A smile flashed across his face.

Brian and Jimmy smiled brightly and fist bumped their good friend. Even Matt grinned at that. We really were becoming quick friends.

"What's her name, Christ?" Brian pulled his own guitar over his head.

"Sarah."

Jimmy sat at his drum set. "Congrats, gnome. I'm so glad ZV called you that."

We all laughed and then waited for Johnny to start the song. It was a rapid fire beat and crazy fast tempo that pumped me up and amped up my heart rate.

Matt nodded his head. "We keep writing, talking, and planning but every thing's changing. We all know what to do but no one does it. Now this time has passed and full of regret!

"Two in my heart let me a while, I stand alone. When they get back, it won't be the same!"

The smile didn't leave my face as I played. I loved the guys.

A little ZV POV for y'all. So, someone is really excited to read my book! They talked to me all day about it.

OH! I'm also working on another book, but I'm going to test it out as fan fiction first.
