Gunslingers

Zach smiled at me as we entered the shooting range. It was a goofy-looking smile, and it was pestering me. I turned to face my spotter, crossing my arms over my chest.

"V, what's with the creepy smile?" I took a bucket of bullets from the gun range attendant.

He snickered. "Nice scratches, Shadows. You get laid or something?"

Shit, I forgot Rae left scratches on my neck last night. She really did like it rough and that thought brought a smile to my face. "Yeah, V, I did. Can we shoot now?"

He nodded, the weird smile still on his face. He bobbed his head and got his own block of bullets. I wasn't the only one that needed to stay in top form. Who knew when he'd need to shoot?

"Do I get any details?" Zach asked, loading bullets into his sidearm. "Cause those scratches look like it was good sex!"

I rolled my eyes and loaded my gun. "Let me get my first rounds in."

Zach nodded and we both aimed. Nothing felt better than aiming my rifle, except sex. That felt pretty damn good.

"She said that?" Zach shoved the last of his shells into his bucket and followed me to the weight room. "Does she have a sister, perchance?"

"I don't know, Baker."

He sighed. "Are you gonna fuck again?"

I laughed. "Well, you know I make her want to scream..." I trailed off as a melody played in my head. "Grab your guitar and find the fly boys, I have a song."

"What? WHAT!" Zach called after me. Confusion was apparent in his voice.

"Meet me in the courtyard with electrics. I'm getting a drum set!" I jogged away, not waiting to hear his answer.

Dan kept a drum set in his room for some unknown reason, and I really needed it. The song was playing through my head. I could hear every note. Plus, Dan would be happy I was playing nice with the pilots. Literally every SEAL knew how I felt about pilots.

"DAN!" I yelled, banging on his door. "Open up, Danny Boy!"

I heard someone approach the door and a groggy, shirtless Dan opened the door. "What in the fuck do you want, Sanders? I finally am getting sleep after planning all night. So what the fuck do you need?"

"Um... your drum set."

Dan shook his head. "Did I hit my head? You don't even play drums. What's going on, Matthew?" He folded his arms across his chest.

I scratched my eyebrow. "Look, you know I write songs and a beat is stuck in my head. I need them, okay?"

"Who's playing them?"

"Some Navy pilot named Jimmy," I said.

"James Sullivan? He's insane! Why is he using my drums?"

Oh, this was taking too long. "For a song!"

He raised an eyebrow. "Take it, Sanders. Just don't let that crazy fuck break anything."

The Navy pilots stared at me as they entered the courtyard. Jimmy twirled his drumstick in one hand and stared me down with his blue, blue eyes. Why did all these guys have such breathtaking eyes?

"What are we doing here?" Brian asked, pulling a pick from his pocket. "And where'd you get the drum set?"

Jimmy ran over to the set and played a crazy set on it. I watched in awe as he played the drums to "Sweet Child O' Mine." He was amazing; it kind of left me in awe.

"Set acme from my CO, and you guys are here to help me with a song I just can't get out of my head," I said and motioned for his guitar.

Brian reluctantly handed it to me and watched as I strummed out the tune that was racing through my head. Zacky nodded and joined in, adding layers to it. Brian took the guitar back just as Jimmy kicked in with the beat, and Johnny started the bass line. It was like they could read my mind.

I smiled. "Caught up in this madness, too blind to see. Woke animal feelings in me. Took over my sense and I lost control. I'll taste your blood tonight." I smiled again thinking of last night with my hot Marine. "You know I make you wanna scream. You know I make you wanna run from me, baby. But now it's too late you've wasted all your time."

We got through all my lyrics, and Brian had added this totally wicked solo to it. Hell, we didn't sound terrible. Maybe this would be fun to do between tours. We all lived on the base so that would be easier.

"Dude, we sounded awesome!" Johnny fist bumped Jimmy. "We should keep doing this." He sounded so excited.

Baker nodded enthusiastically. "Agreed. Those were awesome lyrics, Sanders. And Brian! That solo. I bow to the guitar god."

Brian flashed a cocky grin. "We did sound pretty good. But... I don't work with Spec Ops. You guys are a bunch of assholes who get all the perks."

Zacky and I burst into laughter, and I looked Brian up and down. "Dude, no one even knows what a SEAL is. We say that, and girls think we're with the zoo."

"Oh... well then." Brian looked at his feet. "Let's do this."

"Alright!" Jimmy stood up and pulled us into a group hug This guy was actually starting to grow on me.

Enjoy this update. I will not be able to update tomorrow as I'll be flying all day and then at a concert. But don't worry, I'll be able to update most every day after that.
